I'm very excited for this, and hope we get Karla Sofen in there somewhere, because the Thunderbolts without Moonstone just feels wrong.

Wouldn't be shocked if this one struggles a bit, being sandwiched right between Dune and the Hunger Games and the Ms. Marvel show itself not really seeming like it lit the world on fire as a lot of the other Marvel shows (personally I only watched the pilot and found it absolutely intolerable but that's neither here nor there), but I do hope it does well just because all of the Brie Larson hate-crush idiots are going to be especially insufferable if not.

Not in terms of the release date, but I think the story has so much to do, or so much that it could do, and I'm unsure whether it can come together meaningfully and successfully.
There's only been one Captain Marvel movie to date. Carol thinks she's Vers for 2/3s of the movie, so we the audience only know Carol as Carol for the final 1/3 of that movie, plus her appearance in Endgame. So on top of the movie fleshing out Carol's character as we left her at the end of her first movie, we have 25 years of off-Earth history that might be nice to know about, as well as the post-Infinity War pre-Endgame time when Carol finally made it back to Earth to address, because...
We don't know much about Monica Rambeau, either. We know that Maria died, and that aspect of loss is something that WandaVision tried to put over as a way for Monica to connect with Wanda. Unsuccessfully, I might add. Monica probably has a lot of resentment for Carol being off-planet for 30 years and not being around when Maria died. So, that potential character conflict on top of fleshing out Monica's character is a lot to add on top of all the Carol character stuff. If the movie even tries to deal with any of this.
Then there's the Kamala of it all. I've only watcher her D+ show once. It started well enough, the first two episodes were fun, and it had a lot of promise. But the show fell off a cliff, and hard, in terms of quality over the last four episodes. All the Noor Dimension/Clan Destin stuff? Awful. Is her bangle a Quantum Band? If so, is that how the stinger of the D+ show happened? But then, *how* did that happen? What led to that character having a Quantum Band as well? And for me, I still don't quite understand how Kamala became a fan of Carol...? Since Carol has only ever been on Earth for a cup of coffee, how has that been enough time for her to a fandom? What qualities has Carol demonstrated to the world that would make her an inspiration to Kamala?
And is this movie even going to do any world-building stuff with the Skrulls to connect with Secret Invasion?

I really dug WandaVision for the bulk of it but she was kind of always the worst part of the show.

Captain Marvel got lucky all those years ago being put out at the pinnacle of Endgame hype. People aren't going to give Brie that kind of money again. I liked Monica in Wandavision well enough though. Don't have a high opinion on the Ms. Marvel series (Kamala in general is a boring character)
I think this should have been a Disney+ show.

After the beginning of Endgame she could have hung around for a bit helping restore order before heading out to do the same for other planets. For people who lived through the Snap she could have become one of Earths most popular heroes.

Yes because it all about Brie. MCU fans are not whiny basement dwellers like the comics fans have become. They dont even know they are supposed to hate Brie because, what? She said once she wants movie reviews from people other than white men. That got then incels going but 99% of MCU fans either dont know or care.

I don't like Brie either, but not because I'm a basement dweller who reads comics. I just don't think she's a good actress.
You don't have to come up with a bazillion weird false narratives to dismiss someone you find to be a crappy actress.

The tagline for this film might as well be "Bodyswapping hijinks ensue"
I'm sold. More of this nonsense is what the MCU needs, not everything being a gigantic high stakes bit of nonsense.

Honestly looks like a blast. Marvel mixed with body swapping craziness sounds like a fun premise.

I always find it funny when folks insist that Captain Marvel made it to a billion solely off of Endgame hype. Meanwhile Ant-Man and the Wasp came out 2-3 months after Infinity War, in July (meaning summer blockbuster), stars an already established hero, and on top of all that, features a lead the internet tells me is much more popular than Brie Larson. Reminder, Ant-Man and the Wasp is the lowest grossing film in all of Phase 3, and rounds out the top (bottom?) ten lowest grossing films in the franchise.

Carol was simply hyped more and people assumed she would play a much bigger part in Endgame than she ultimately did. Scott Lang is far more important to the plot of Endgame than she is, but the post-credit of Ant-Man and The Wasp didn't make that apparent, instead he's seemingly just another victim of the snap, where as Carol's mid-credits sees her return from deep space and determined to get to the bottom of what happened to her good friend Fury and most of the universe. The film ends with the promise of a big showdown with Thanos...and what happened? She orbited the garden and stood by while Thor killed Thanos, then the next we see her she has a dorky haircut asking Peter to hand her something...then she has that showdown with Thanos and it's kind of a thing for...what, two minutes? People parted with a billion dollars because they bought into someone Marvel boosted as their next Iron Man only for them to squander her.
