I'm out by of the wrestling loop apparently. What did Aries do? TW: Sexual Abuse, Rape Prolific serial rapist. When Speaking Out happened in 2020, several (As in more than four) women across the country shared the same story of what Aries did to them. He had a method he'd follow: he'd invite a young woman to come out "Drinking with the boys" after a show and have them agree to give him a "ride to his hotel" afterward, stay out with them late until they were the last two there or so and then he'd ask if he could just crash on their floor/couch since it'd take forever to check in as it was too late. They'd oblige, he'd sleep on their couch/floor and she'd fall asleep in her bed. A few hours later she'd wake up to Aries on top of them forcing them to have sex. It'd be sickening enough if he did it to just one, but the fact that multiple women in wholly unconnected scenes and regions had the exact same story is revolting and damning. Genuinely didn't kno that. Wow. I knew he was a dick with an attitude problem, but that's just... Wow. f*** this dude.

At first I was ready to give him the benefit of the doubt since the allegations came on Reddit from someone who was not the original accuser (and then asked for people to bring her allegations about Jericho in what looked like a weird vendetta), but then Aries himself admitted to these.

I definitely think there's a conversation to be had as to why wrestlers are held to a far higher standard than just about any other form of entertainer or athlete. To be perfectly blunt, the majority of wrestlers who had their careers derailed by the Speaking Out movement would have barely skipped a beat if they had worked in any other form of entertainment or sporting arena, let alone be facing the prospect of never working in their chosen field again. Part of me wonders if the advent of social media, and the ease we're able to connect with wrestlers (even those at the top of the industry) gives wrestling fans more of a sense of ownership or a personal connection that most industries just don't have. Also the fact that most wrestlers represent themselves, whereas virtually every other entertainer or sportsperson tends to have agents and PR people that control the narrative around their clients probably lends itself to this as well. I certainly wouldn't tell anyone who they should and shouldn't support, but I definitely find it interesting to see who is persona-non-grata to wrestling fans, when you consider some of the people who are idolised and making a living in other industries. I think that's because a lot of these guys were only ever notable or famous because of the internet. And the internet is a fickle beast that loves outrage (not saying that the outrage isn't valid in these cases). It's a live by the sword, die by the sword situation. But really, there is no good or logical reason why some of these guys are cancelled forever and others who were accused (Riddle, Darby) have suffered no consequences. And further still why those who have admitted stuff or been convicted (Punk, Austin, Tyson), nobody really cares what they did. It's certainly an imperfect system all around.

"Surprise appearance" by one Velveteen Dream that happened a few nights ago at an indie show. The promotion responsible is currently being torn to shreds, and rightfully so.

Not a lot of fans, but the setup gives the impression it’s not exactly a rinky dink production. Also, according to Cagematch.net Jay Lethal was also on the card. lol "Velveteen Man." That sounds like the worst superhero ever. Also, how can he have some awareness of copyright/trademark infringement (hence changing his name), but think he can use his WWE produced entrance music?

Patrick really went on an "I'm Sorry" Podcast run and some dumb f*** promotion decided that'd it'd be a good idea to run him unadvertised on a card The reaction of disappointment from most of the fans was honestly satisfying, hope everyone asked for refunds.

Odds are good the promoter figures WWE won't come after them. Music is odd will hear people coming out ot their WWE/TNA/ROH themes on indie events. But down this way,and not sure how true this is,in 2019 word got out that WWE was going after promoters that used WWE owned promo shots of guys on their flyers. So now if say Battlezone books Robert Gibson it will be a picture of him from 2 years ago taken by some fan front row. Or when DCW was booking Tommy Dreamer a pile the pic on the flyer looked like Tommy was standing outside his home. And hearing Byron Wilcott is showing up at shows in LA and TX trying to get booked.

Special shoutouts to Van Vliet for ensuring this would happen due to his interview with Patrick. Among other accused sex offenders who got jobs (see: Riddle, Matthew). And Dynasty for making this a surprise appearance, so nobody had a choice on whether or not they wanted to see him. Both helped make the industry that much less safe for women. Good job jerks!

Yeah CVV giving these guys a platform to say shit whether true or not is giving them a platform they probably shouldn't have, and now these are the consequences, dumb f*** indies taking advantage and not even advertising a problematic wrestler who was accused of not just sexual assault allegations but with MINORS showed up to a wrestling event that dares to call itself a "Family Friendly" promotion Talk about being f***ing tone deaf man. This is as bad as that Indie who tried to sneak Joey Ryan onto a card and poster for a Mania Weekend show and everyone pulled out, and if they didn't tell the wrestlers he was booked either I'd legit never work for them again.

Other than being shot by his brother, what did Byron do? Jordynne Grace has accused him of raping her when she was under 18. A few other indie women have come out and made similar claims.

I stopped following/paying attention to CVV once he started giving a pretty big platform to Control Your Narrative. I didn't need that crap on my feeds.

I know Beyond Wrestling uses mainstream copyrighted music at live events (or at least they used to). But they cut any entrance doing that from their YouTube clips and other social media. It would be one thing if it was a fan video, but this isn’t a great way to fly under the radar when the clip they most want to draw attention to from their show has blatant copyright infringement.

I would love to hear the promotion try to describe what he did to even need a second chance in the first place.
