"Surprise appearance" by one Velveteen Dream that happened a few nights ago at an indie show. The promotion responsible is currently being torn to shreds, and rightfully so. Special shoutouts to Van Vliet for ensuring this would happen due to his interview with Patrick. Among other accused sex offenders who got jobs (see: Riddle, Matthew). And Dynasty for making this a surprise appearance, so nobody had a choice on whether or not they wanted to see him. Both helped make the industry that much less safe for women. Good job jerks! Was Velveteen Dream's issues really a threat to women? Wasn't he accused of trying to pick up underage dudes?

He's also accused of setting up a camera in a bathroom at a party to record other NXT wrestlers in there. Dream seems liek he's a threat just kind of across the board.

Apparently Rita Chatterton was also a special referee at that show too, which makes this even stranger.

February seems like the month for it. JDX made his big surprise return unannounced two weekends ago after 15 months away and it felt so, so gross.

What did this JDX person do? He was doing a podcast where he was acting like Andrew tate and when called out he acted like he was being bullied. A bunch of women did not want him around after that. twitter.com/youthnIust/status/1616283646620729344?t=mRdIjTUgAyMGSUK6u8GpPA&s=19

I know the reputation of youTube comments, but I'm still shocked to see the amount of people defending Velveteen Dream on the Cultaholic video on the topic. People are basically unironically saying that him saying he's innocent, completely unopposed and unquestioned during an interview is all the evidence you need to disprove multiple accusations with actual proof backing them up.

One of my collaborators used the excuse of no charges filed as enough to let him come back. I kindly reminded him of the statistics of successful criminal sexual assault prosecution.

It feels like Dream and his supporters want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to deny that he did anything that bad while also using this whole "second chance" thing to push his return to wrestling. Either he's innocent and doesn't even need to be redeemed or he f***ed up and actually has to own up to it.

I’m really not informed on the matter. I remember posters on here breaking down the case and looking at it from both sides. I see ppl online defend him a lot. I will say, i watched the Van Pliat interview and it screamed sus to me throughout.
Anyway, not surprised some are willing to hire him. If i had to guess, he’ll burn out again. I think he’d have to work his ass off and keep his nose clean for a considerable amount of time to get any kind of legitimate traction in the industry,

Was Velveteen Dream's issues really a threat to women? Wasn't he accused of trying to pick up underage dudes? What relevance does this have I am kind of confused what you are asking here. The original comment was about women's safety in wrestling. This comment points out that Dream's issues were, while severe accusations, unrelated to women. The relevance of that is kind of self-apparent, isn't it? Of course, I don't agree necessarily. I think that inviting accused pests into wrestling locker rooms without scrutiny kind of brings the overall safety down across the board, moving the creep Overton Window over more and more, but they aren't wrong in that Dream isn't accused of anything directed at women directly as far as I am aware, so he's not really part of the same conversation as a Scurll, Riddle, etc, on women's safety.

Even if you think that he’s innocent/was set up/ taken out of context or whatever with the online stuff, the entire NXT locker room thought that this dude was a creep and he was caught blatantly trying to film them in the bathroom. Is that really a dude that you want in your locker room?

You shouldn't be shocked lol I still remember a few years ago, getting into an argument with people on YouTube over Riddle, when he was being accused at the time. I said that IN MY OWN OPINION he was garbage and was jumped on for it. One person actually told me I had no business hating him because "the case was settled". Tried to explain that opinions and emotions don't work that way, got called a homophobic slur. Then I noped out lol

Well, for one, I was mainly asking the guy why the 'he specifically went after kids and not women' was a point worth making at all regardless of whether it was accurate, like critiquing the specific phrasing of people's response mattered more than any promotion booking this prick. Also, he got caught pretty fast. We don't actually know what he is capable of. Really seems like a pointless quibble given what is being discussed here is my point Second of all, inviting any known abuser into your locker room is an indication that *no* vulnerable people are safe. Men can be victims of abuse and sexual assault too - like me for one - but safety of people in groups more likely to be assaulted like minorities of any kind, or women, are all clearly irrelevant to this promoter.
