Yeah, I can see why Khan would have been fearful. He was probably in a position to see the fight between Punk and Perry and then Punk went after him. Khan isn't a trained fighter. Punk might not be a good fighter, but he's still trained, so it's understandable that he'd be scared. He had already seen Punk get violent only seconds before.

This does not absolve Tony of his bitchness as he admitted to the live crowd that he was forced to fire Punk... He even said that the independent committee decided this not him. He doesn't get to play both sides and reap the benefits of both and wait until his hands are tied to stand up and pick a side. His side was always with Punk. I don't think the statement about committee recommendation was actually him playing both sides, I think it was legal ass-covering. The "I've never been afraid" tells me that he knew what he had to do, but because of the contracts and scale of the contracts, the statement was written out very lawyerly to make it clear that the disciplinary committee says he should fire him. It's a way to keep it from seeming like he unilaterally made the decision, doubly so because of his own presence and fear in the moment, which would leave more holes open for Punk to pursue legal action.

He's ascended out of Bitch-halla but has to do his penance in Bitch-gatory for a bit.

I have huge respect for him for going out and announcing it in front of a crowd he knew would be hostile. He could have easily left it as the backstage promo.
Now where's my Old Hollywood Toni Storm shirt, Khan? That's the only thing that will get him out of Bitchalla.

I have a bad feeling we’re gonna get more details about the punk/tony alone conflict that’ll make us feel kinda shitty for calling him names even if him letting this go on for a year and the treatment of the women’s division having made it a bit warranted
hopefully not but he had no reason to say he feared for his life if he didn’t really, tony is a weirdo but he isn’t a liar to my eyes

I won’t make judgement on whether or not Khan feared for his safety, but it’s an impossible situation to prove either way. Which is why he is okay in doing so, it allows him to fire Punk with cause.

He grew up in obscene wealth and luxury, I doubt exposure to violence and aggression was ever 'normalised' for him in the way that it would have been for many of us, so I don't doubt for a second that he even feared for his life with an angry pro wrestler approaching him having just attacked someone else. Even most of us who didn't come from that kind of background would probably be thinking 'this guy is gonna hurt me'. Regardless I respect him for making the call to turn Punk loose and then going out and taking the heat from the crowd, better late than never as the saying goes.

If it's a choice between "Tony is lying" and "Punk was violent", we have multiple cases of the latter. I know which side I land on

Tony isn't gonna sack somebody and then come out on tv and lie about the incident when there is apparently footage of it.
That would just be green light for Punk to sue for unfair dismisal and say 'check the tape'. TK isn't dumb. He not gonna say anything the footage won't support

Just read Tony thanked Punk when asked about the firing last night.

If he is still going to hangout and play dress up and desperate to be liked by his employees than he will forever be a bitch. Maybe his balls will finally drop after this incident and he will actually be a boss who runs a company that could make millions / billions. If he keeps acting like a money mark then he will forever be a bitch.

I mean, when a guy is as sue happy as CM Punk is, it’s way better to start the PR battle and come off like you’re regretful and appreciative so you look better than the dude whose going to likely try and throw everyone under the bus after having a lot of allowances.

If you go back to his statement, TK says he was fearful for the production staffs safety, not just his. This indicates that Punk was going pretty hog wild. And that's something you don't just claim about a guy you're a huge fan of and have looked the other way on previously.

He also wouldn’t let Paulinha sign for Bayern Munich despite being in Germany to complete the move. TK is getting tough!
