I doubt Tony was scared for his life due to Punk's fighting ability, he saw his MMA career. He probably was scared of Punk acting unhinged and lashing out around precariously placed monitors and production equipment (possibly throwing things). One of those falling on your head could do a lot of damage. He said others backstage were fearful which backs that up, they wouldn't be if only TK was in the line of fire. As stated above, I doubt Punk was physically intimidating Tony. I think it’s more like Punk got into Tony’s face with some colorful four letter adjectives. In other words-Tony couldn’t handle being yelled at. He had just finished attacking someone else. Even if it was the case he was angry, add the fact that Punks seemingly dropped Monitors on top of tony(even if it was during the brawl with JB or after lunging at tony doesnt matter) Its more than enough to assume someone will assault you.Even in the tamest scenario there is more than enough to fear being attacked

For real bro. Tony’s just a rich dude watching the theater company he created putting on a play. At no point should he in this situation EVER have someone get in his face, threaten him, or just even get loud and mean. Tony wouldn’t be expecting that and I can absolutely see why he’d be afraid for his safety.
Enough of this macho “he wasn’t afraid” shit like that’s not possible. I work in a field where I regularly have to have confrontations with drunks and belligerents, but the minute one of them approached me after work when I didn’t have cameras and a radio giving me backup, you’re damn right I was afraid for my safety.

This new thing where people are deciding Tony Khan probably wasn’t actually afraid is so lame. You don’t know what went on back there, so why not take the guy at his word? We already know that Punk choked Perry, so it such a leap to think that he did something that scared Khan? What are we doing here?

Look, I won't make fun of TK for being scared at what happened.
Assuming all reports are true(and I mean, there's literal footage so I doubt they're lying) I'd be scared too if an angry Phil was lunging and yelling at me.
Yeah, he's not big by wrestler standards and we all know how his pro fighting career went, but still a man lunging at you is pretty bad feeling. And also, imagine an angry CM Punk, and imagine that dude coming directly at you. He's an intense guy lol. So yeah I don't blame Tony at all.
I will, however, still make fun of him for a myriad of other reasons.

Time to change this thread title again after tonight's controversy?
Malicious as a booker? Probably not. Incompetent as a booker? I'm sure there's an argument you could make.

No. And it would have been absolutely fantastic if this thread stayed buried. Reviving it for this purpose is pointless while the other thread is going on but does not come off like it's in the best faith.

No. And it would have been absolutely fantastic if this thread stayed buried. Reviving it for this purpose is pointless while the other thread is going on but does not come off like it's in the best faith. I fail to see why not. Once again something dumb happens on his TV show. The buck, and the booking, stops with him. The fact that dumb stuff keeps happening on his watch makes me wonder does he even know what he doesn't know? What the world has been talking about happened on Saturday. It's now Tuesday. Who knows when the talent sat down and hashed out what was going to be said for tonight's TV show. But it's probably a number bigger than 60 minutes when Tony Khan could have said, and maybe should have said, "let's not, tonight, okay?" But either he didn't, or he couldn't, or the thought never occurred to him at all. And even if he didn't make the decision to step in creatively, or he couldn't, or didn't know that he could have, any answer that's the truth still doesn't make him look good as a booker. But maybe the fans will simply forget and reset the "what dumb stuff has happened on AEW TV now?" counter until the next time this happens. And it will, if recent memory is anything to go by. Let's be clear: there is also a difference between bad faith and blind faith.

I’m going to lock this thread because we already have a thread about the Juice promo and this was mostly about the Punk situation.
