Super Mario RPG (2023)

Deserving of its own thread as today Nintendo announced that Legend of The Seven Stars, Mario's first RPG game is getting Remastered remake that will be released in November. Mario, Mallow, Geno and more return.

Hyped beyond hyped, easily a top 5 all time game for me.

The art style looks so good! Gorgeous and fresh looking, but still faithful to the original game.

Finally...

Only took 27 years to bring back Mallow, Geno and the gang. Yeah, I know they were Square characters, but Nintendo had more than enough money to get them if they wanted.

Hopefully this means those characters will start appearing in other games as well.

Really hoping there are some new features to this. I love the game to death, but I've played the original so many times I can practically recite the dialogue in my sleep, so if it's just the exact same game with a new coat of paint I don't think it'll do much for me. That percentage meter in the battle screen is new, but I can't tell what it's actually for yet.

Might be a team combo, once you fill it up you can do a combined attack.

I haven't played this since it was new. However, it was a fantastic game from Square's golden era. If I had a Nintendo system I'd be super excited.

Tweaked the title because there's no way, in our definition of this stuff in gaming, this is merely a remaster.

I didn't see the leak so I was shocked to see it and I'd very much like to play it properly.

While I don't think it would need it, I wonder if they'll add any side thing in there like they did with the Mario & Luigi remake games they put out there. Maybe a secret Luigi side quest or something. Since back then RPG was one of the rare Mario games to not have Luigi in it (the only other ones of the time being the first two Land games before Wario took over that series).

Awesome looks very faithful to the original and by that looks like the exact same game with modern graphics.

Now the real question will be if the nerf hammer is coming down on the Bowser , Toad and I believe Mallow combo made the game obsurdly easy.

If I were nerfing anything it'd be Group Hug and the Lazy Shell. If anything Bowser and Mallow could stand to be buffed.

Mario, Geno and Toadstool were the go to team for most

Geno hit almost as strong as Bowser and better magic user while Toadstool was a better healer than Mallow.
