Word is Super Jumps are way easier in this one, this one seems to have like twice the window of time you can do them. Very welcome news.

One thing if they wanted to pad the game out further, maybe add some more wishes to Star Road and have Mario help grant them, maybe getting some prizes for getting them.

So you apparently get the Signal Ring as early as the Mushroom Kingdom, meaning at absolutely no point can you miss out on a secret chest. That sort of ruins the fun to revisit some areas if it's just provided to you as early as possible.

The new version of Sad Song is the most Kingdom Hearts thing ever. You can hear it so desperately trying to turn into both Dearly Beloved and Traverse Town. I do believe Yoko Shimomura composed most of the songs in Mario RPG, and she did all the Kingdom Hearts faves too of course (also Street Fighter 2 lots of people don't know) but she does put in little fanservice stuff like a callback to Dearly Beloved in a Mario RPG remake all the time. Just played through the Mack/Claymorton fight.
Probably the most bizarre change is that they removed the trampoline after the Croco fight, so you have to take the long way back through Bandit's Way.
On the other hand, changing the Kerokero Cola to Croaka Cola is probably one of the best name changes they've done.

Actually the reason they removed the trampoline is that there's now a quick travel on the pause menu. Mallow mentions it offhandedly at that point. |

It’s been many years since I’ve done a full play through of Mario RPG, but after my first couple hours with the new one this very much feels like a “remake” in the sense that Link’s Awakening was a “remake”. It’s basically the same game with modern paint.
That’s not a complaint, it just puts them in a weird category that makes it hard to judge them on their own merit.

Checked out a couple playthroughs...
Only things I couldn't confirm was anyone selling the wallet after showing the toad you have his wallet.
Snifits 4 through 7...along with the unwanted Apprentice.
Dialogue such as when Mario doesn't accept the key from the Guard in Nimbusland.
They're all probably there...but haven't seen anyone show it yet.

Snifit thing is in, I assume the Nimbus Land bit is, my understanding is you can't sell the wallet anymore. I think I have officially found the name change that pisses me off the most:
Instead of "The Koopa Troop", they have to be called to be "Bowser's Minions" every single time now. It often results in awkward dialogue like here where Bowser's suddenly speaking in the 3rd person for some reason.

I'm still on the fence about getting this. On one hand, it's one of my favorite games of all time, but on the other hand, my original copy for SNES still works perfectly fine. And outside of the boss rematches and cosmetic changes, it really doesn't feel like there's enough differences to justify spending $60 on it. In any other situation, I'd be tempted to wait a few months and buy it after the price goes down, but this is a mainline Nintendo game, which means the price will probably never go down.
Anyone here who's already playing it, let me know: is it worth buying again if I already own the original?

Just beat the final bonus boss and that fight is pretty nuts. {Spoiler}That said it does feel like kind of an anticlimax that once you get the crystals out of the way Culex just becomes a damage sponge, since he doesn't hit hard enough to actually threaten the team anymore and him insta-killing individual people is nowhere near as deadly as him reducing everyone to 1 HP. |

To make it even easier, later on you get a Signal Ring that makes beeping sounds and such when you're under the chest. |

Something I question is that most of the chests are in the same locations as the original, except for one they for some reason moved to an area you're otherwise only at for a second and is a pain in the ass to return to. {Spoiler}It's the screen where you fight Bowyer. |
