News and NotesVanity AffairWhen it comes to superstars who would be considered the most vain and egotistical, Shawn Michaels and Rick "The Model" Martel would undoubtedly be the two at the top of the list. Both Michaels and Martel are egotistical individuals who pride themselves on their good looks with each believing their God's gift to women. Therefore it seemed only inevitable that the two would eventually clash. Problems between the two first began on an episode of Prime Time Wrestling in June where Martel took on Bret "Hitman" Hart for the Intercontinental Championship. Martel had defeated Hart for the title once before and was confident he could do it again. Michaels though had other ideas. Late in the contest Martel would level Hart under the chin with his Arrogance atomizer while the ref's back was turned. Smelling victory Martel would apply his Boston Crab finisher that has notched him so many victories throughout his career. However right as the championship seemed to be in the Model's grasp, Michaels would then stroll down and jump into the ring and start pummeling Hart. As a result Martel was disqualified for outside interference. Martel was furious afterwards with him and Michaels going nose to nose before the self proclaimed Heartbreak Kid eventually left the ring, satisfied with himself as he had accomplished what he set out to do. At the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event in July Michaels was scheduled to get a title shot as well against Hart. However if Hart were to lose his title to Martel then Michaels would lose his opportunity. On top of that Michaels has never liked Martel much anyways so getting under his skin in the process made it even more satisfying for him. However Michaels would be unsuccessful in winning the championship as he was defeated by Hart in the first ever ladder match at Saturday's Night's Main Event. On top of not being champion he now has also made a new enemy in Martel. Recently while Michaels was having a match on WWF Wrestling Challenge, Martel would stroll down to ringside where he would catch the eye of Shawn's main squeeze "Sensational" Sherri. Martel would take off his sunglasses and give Sherri a wink. Sherri would then return the favor with a wink of her own with Martel then leaving with a big smile on his face. At Summerslam Michaels and Martel will go one on one in what has been called the battle of the pretty boys. On top of that at the behest of Sherri both men have agreed to a stipulation in which neither man can strike the other in the face so neither of their handsome looks will be ruined. Will Sherri stand by her man? Or will she leave with the Model? Either way it's obvious that someone will be broken at love. The Ugandan GiantNever before has there been a time where so many bizarre and violent newcomers have been debuting the WWF. From the wild Berzerker to the frightening Papa Shango to the unhinged Nailz, the WWF seems to be filled with dangerous rulebreakers who opponents risk having their career terminated whenever they get into the ring with them. Now there's another man on the scene who might be the most dangerous of them all in the cannibalistic Kamala from the jungles from Uganda. Managed by Harvey Wippleman, the Ugandan Giant is an out of control savage who has no understanding what so ever of wrestling or it's rules. The only man who seems to be able to at least somewhat control him is his handler Kim Chee. As soon as the bell rings Kamala ruthlessly attacks opponents without mercy, battering them kicks and chops before using his near 400 pound frame to flatten them with a big splash. Kamala has destroyed every opponent he's faced so far but perhaps at Summerslam he will meet his match when he goes one on one with the Undertaker. Undertaker who recently dispatched another wild man in the Berzerker, has garnered a reputation of being impervious to pain and pretty much impossible to stop. It should be a match of brutality when the two giants go head to head. Razor Ramon: Carving Up The CompetitionAnother new arrival in the WWF is Razor Ramon. Hailing from Miami, Florida; Ramon is a Cuban immigrant who apparently feels as though the streets of America are paved with gold. Possessing movie star good looks and often seen sporting stylish suits and gold chains around his neck, Razor is definitely a flashy individual. Ramon says he wants what he has coming to him, "the world and everything in it". In the short time he's been in the WWF, the ruthless Cuban has shown himself to be an unreasonable bully who will do whatever it takes to take what he wants. And at 6'7" and 280 pounds of solid muscle there isn't going to be much anyone can do to stop him. In the ring the tough street brawler is a very strong offensive wrestler who overwhelms opponents with heavy strikes and high impact power moves. However his most devastating maneuver of all is a reverse backdrop he calls, appropriately, the Razor's Edge in which he hoists an unfortunate opponent up in a standing crucifix position before dropping them down on the back of their head and neck. The self proclaimed bad guy of the WWF has been very much that so far and by the looks of will continue to be for a very long time. News and NotesWarrior or Savage: Who Has Sold Out?When it was announced that the Ultimate Warrior would be taking on "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WWF World Title at Summerslam, Ric Flair was furious. Flair felt he should be challenging for the title, claming he had been robbed in his previous three title matches with Savage due to bias officiating. However it now looks like Flair and his executive consultant Mr. Perfect have shifted to Plan B. On WWF Superstars while Warrior was being interviewed by Mean Gene Okerlund, Flair would interrupt. Warrior was shocked when Flair alerted him that Perfect had been in talks with Savage for him to be his manager at Summerslam. Flair would also that it wasn't a done deal yet and that if Warrior wanted to make his own offer Perfect was all ear. On the following week's Superstars Savage would be interviewed by Okerlund. This time Perfect would interrupt and claimed that during the week that he had been in talks with Warrior and had been given an offer that he could possibly not refuse. In the midst of all this drama Jimmy Hart issued a challenge for Warrior and Savage to face his Nasty Boys at the Summerslam Spectacular which took place only a week before Summerslam. Both Warrior and Savage would accept. However Savage and Warrior were clearly not on the same page with neither man trusting each other with both thinking the other had sold out to Perfect. The Nasty Boys would take advantage of their opponents bickering and control most of the match. Savage would make a comeback but during the melee the official was knocked unconscious after being squashed in the corner by Brian Knobbs. Jerry Sags would take advantage of the situation by leveling Savage with Hart's motorcycle helmet. Then Flair and Perfect ran down to ringside and viciously assaulted Warrior with a chair which would then result in the Nasty Boys scoring a count out victory. It appeared obvious that it was Savage who had sold out. However in an interview afterwards Savage denied being in cahoots with Perfect and stated that it was Warrior who had sold out and that the attack from Flair and Perfect was just to "make it look good" and get people off the scent. Mr. Perfect is the best strategist and tactician in the WWF and victory will be a virtual lock for whoever has him in their corner. But whose corner will he be in? Civil WarAt Summerslam a family could be possibly torn apart when Bret "Hitman" Hart defends his Intercontinental Championship against his brother in law, "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. Davey Boy, who is married to Bret's sister Diana, has been wanting an Intercontinental Championship for quite some time. However surely it surely wasn't under these circumstances. Davey Boy has stated that regardless of what happens that he's faithful that the family will be able to stay united. Hart on the other hand has been a bit more aggressive in interviews, claiming he will do what ever it takes to win regardless if his opponent is his brother in law. On top of all this, Summerslam is being held in Davey Boy's home country in England which will surely make him the crowd favorite despite the Hitman also being a very popular wrestler worldwide. Natural Disasters: Finally Claim The GoldThe Natural Disasters for quite some time were the perennial bridesmaids of the WWF tag team division. While many thought it was only a matter of time before the gargatuan pair became champions and while they were constantly number one contenders, any time they would get a title shot the Disasters would fall victim to bad luck. At the Royal Rumble they challenged the Legion of Doom for the championship. While the Disasters won the match it was only by count out and a championship in the WWF can only change hands by pinfall or submission. Therefore Legion of Doom kept their championship. At Saturday Night's Main Event: Mile High Madness the Disasters were scheduled for a rematch against LOD. However before the match they were double crossed by their own manager, Jimmy Hart, who lied and stated his team could not compete due to injury. As it turns out Hart had sold out to Money Incorperated, who then then took the Disasters place and defeated LOD to become the new champions. At Wrestlemania VIII the Disasters would get another title shot as well as a chance for revenge when they took on Money Incorporated. However right when it looked like they were going to finish off Irwin R. Schyster, the Million Dollar Man would pull his partner out of the ring with the champions then cowardly retreating to the back to take a count out loss and save their championship. Once again the Disasters were victorious but had failed to win the championship due to a technicality. At Saturday Night's Main Event: Wrestlefest the Disasters would get another shot at Money Incorperated. Regardless of what happened this would likely be their last title shot. If they failed to win the titles once again it was going to be quite some time before they received another title opportunity. However this time the Earthquake and the Typhoon were not going to let this opportunity slip through their fingers. When IRS went to use his steel briefcase as a weapon while the ref was distracted, Typhoon would alertly avoid the blow by moving out of the way and instead the Million Dollar Man was walloped by his own partner. Not taking any chances of being robbed once again by shenanigans, Earthquake would quickly seize the moment as he dropped a massive elbow drop on the fallen Million Dollar Man and quickly covered him for a three count to give his team the championship to a massive ovation from the capacity crowd in Worchester. Now that they have the titles it could be a very long time before anyone is able take them away from the Natural Disasters as they now have the champions advantage meaning the only way somebody is going defeat them for the championship is by pinfall or submission. Which is something nobody has been able to do since Earthquake and Typhoon became a tag team. The only reason it took them so long to win the championship was due to teams like Money Incorperated taking advantage of the pinfall or submission title change rule and intentionally getting themselves counted out or disqualified. It wasn't because the Disasters were being soundly defeated in the ring. At Summerslam the Disasters will put their newly won titles on the line against the Beverly Brothers who scored a count out victory over Earthquake and Typhoon on Prime Time Wrestling before they won the championship from Money Incoperated. However if they want to become champions a count out victory will not do the trick. They will have to do it by either by pinfall or submission which makes their odds at Summerslam quite disastrous.

News and NotesMacho vs. Machismo: Savage Out For Revenge Against Man Who Cost Him The TitleUpon entering the WWF Razor Ramon made it clear right from the onset that he was setting his sights high and that he wanted to carve up the very top stars in the WWF. Whether it be the Undertaker or the Ultimate Warrior or "Macho Man" Randy Savage. On the September 6th episode of Wrestling Challenge Razor would show that he wasn't bluffing when he interrupted an interview Savage was having with Mean Gene Okerlund. Ramon stated that if Savage ever got the guts to face him in the ring that he would give him a lesson in machismo before then throwing his toothpick in Savage's face. Savage would then deck Ramon and knock him off the podium with a swarm of officials then coming out to prevent the altercation from escalating further. On the September 14th Prime Time Wrestling Savage would defend his World Wrestling Federation Championship against Ric Flair. Flair and his management team of Mr. Perfect and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan were banking on the Ultimate Warrior to accept their offer to join them and bring the WWF Championship back into their camp. When Warrior refused they would be forced into coming up with a different plan. After seeing Ramon's confrontation with Savage and knowing that he had a bone to pick with the Macho Man, Flair and his team would approach Razor with an offer that surely involved a large amount of cash to interfere and help him beat Savage for the championship. During the match Flair ruthlessly attacked Savage's leg that had been injured during his match with Warrior at Summerslam. Savage would make a comeback but after being distracted by Perfect was nailed from behind by Flair and knocked to the outside. Then Razor would strike as he came down to ringside and delivered a vicious chop block to Savage's injured leg. Back in the ring Flair would apply his vaunted figure four leglock. Savage would fight the pain as long as he could but eventually succumbed to unconsciousness as the referee counted his shoulders down for a three count to give Flair the championship. After the match Ramon would continue to attack Savage's leg, ramming it into the ring post several times before finally the Ultimate Warrior ran to the ring to chase him off and prevent any more damage from being done. Not only is Flair champion again but he now has made his group even stronger with the addition of Ramon. However Savage now a very powerful ally in his own right in Warrior, an alliance formed over respect as apposed to money like Flair and Ramon. With the Survivor Series, an event centered around tag team competition, only a few months away it looks like several dangerous alliances are being formed that could make the annual WWF Thanksgiving Tradition a very explosive situation. Boss Man Is BackBack in May the former convict Nailz burst onto the scene in the WWF by dishing out the most brutal beating in WWF history on his former prison guard the Big Boss Man. Boss Man would sustain a multitude of injuries from the attack that would force him to be sidelined. In his absence Nailz would continue to wreak havoc in the WWF destroying opponent after opponent, including top stars such as Virgil and Sgt. Slaughter. Apparently Slaughter is now considering retirement due to the injuries he suffered in his encounter with Nailz. On the September 19th episode of WWF Superstars Nailz was challenged by Slaughter's tag team partner, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan who said that he had enough of the crazed convict injuring his friends and was going to put a stop to it. Before the match could even get under way Nailz would attack Duggan from behind as he was getting his 2x4 out of the ring. Nailz would then begin assaulting Duggan with the nightstick he stole from Boss Man when suddenly familiar music began to play in the arena. It was the music of the Big Boss Man, making his return after four months. Boss Man would rush the ring with another nightstick and level Nailz several times with it, first to the body and then to the face with the former prisoner fleeing the ring and retreating to the locker room. In an interview the following week Boss Man would state that while Nailz beat him he couldn't stop him and that now that he was back he was going to make sure Nailz served nothing but hard times. It seems a one on one showdown between the law enforcement officer and the prisoner is only inevitable. However with the hatred both men have for on another one must wonder if the confinements of a wrestling ring will be able to contain the two from tearing each other apart. Myth or Reality?During his short time in the WWF Papa Shango has quickly become one of the most feared if not THE most feared man in the federation. Not only for his physical skills but also for the seeming supernatural abilities he seems to possess that has led some strange goings-on in the ring. After having spells cast on them, opponents of Shango have suffered injuries, been made to vomit, and even been set on fire. On the August 22nd WWF Superstars, young Scott Taylor had the misfortune of taking on Papa Shango. Outweighed by over one hundred pounds Taylor was clearly overmatched as the voodoo master made quick work of the youngster with a reverse shoulder breaker. However after the match Shango would continue to attack Taylor with his voodoo stick in an apparent attempt to send a message to the top WWF stars and what could be in store for them if they faced him. Officials would try to stop to the attack but were thrown out of the ring. WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret "Hitman Hart, who was near by getting ready for his match later in the program, had seen enough and ran to ring and finally able to stop the assault by holding onto Shango and prying the stick away from him while giving the officials enough time to pull Taylor out of the ring to safety. Mr. Perfect on commentary questioned why Hart would want to make an enemy of someone like Shango just one week before his big title defense against "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith at Summerslam. Sure enough later in the program during Hart's match, Shango would appear in the aisle way. Shango would go into a trance and then return to the dressing room. Hart would handily defeat his opponent while showing no worse for wear. However it was still easy to fear that Shango had put a curse on the Hitman that would perhaps show effect later down the road. At Summerslam Hart lost the Intercontinental Championship to the British Bulldog in a highly competitive match that could've went either way. Afterwards Shango would take credit for Hart losing the title, saying that he had put a curse on the Hitman. Hart on the other hand has said that Shango had nothing to do with it, saying that he got beat fair and square by a better man on that particular night while accepting defeat gracefully. Hart has also stated that Shango's so called curses are just mumbo jumbo nonsense and that he's looking forward to stepping into the ring with him to prove that Papa Shango is nothing but a big myth. However like Hart there was other previous opponents of Shango who were also sceptical of his so called powers and became major believers after less then pleasurable experiences in the squared circle. Will Hart be able to expose Shango as the fraud he claims that he is or will the so called myth become a painful reality? DeparturesLegion of Doom and Kerry Von Erich are all no longer with the WWF. Von Erich's last appearance was the September 3rd episode of Prime Time Wrestling where he was defeated by Shawn Michaels. Legion of Doom's last appearance was the September 12th episode of WWF Superstars where they were defeated by the Nasty Boys. RankingsSinglesRic Flair: WWF World Champion(5) 242, Charlotte, NC 1. News and NotesNew Champion: Hitman Downs FlairOn October 12th the wrestling world was turned on it's ear when Bret "Hitman" Hart defeated Ric Flair in Saskatoon, Saskathchewan, Canada to capture the WWF World Championship. Hart utilized his leg grapevine submission finisher, the sharpshooter, to secure the championship to a roaring ovation. It's been a long journey for the Hitman. Debuting in the WWF almost eight years ago exactly, Hart has fought and clawed his way to the top through heart, determination, and hard work. Hart's victory also makes him only the second man in WWF history to hold all three major championship's during his career. Hart has vowed to be the most fighting WWF Champion of all time and says he will give a shot to anyone who wants one. Hart has already made good on his claim as at the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event Ring of Terror PPV he will put his newly won championship on the line against Papa Shango. This bout had actually been signed before Hart won the championship, meaning he wouldn't have to put the title on the line. However the Hitman has decided to have the title at stake so he can continue to prove that he truly is the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be. Hounding The BulldogThere is no denying that Shawn Michaels isn't persistent. After Michaels failed in his bid to capture the Intercontinental Championship from Bret "Hitman" Hart, many figured that the Boy Toy would continue to slide down the ladder. However he's ended up doing the complete opposite. Over the last few months Michaels has been on an unbelievable hot streak. Through September and into October Michaels has had an impressive string of victories with wins over Kerry Von Erich, Jim Powers, Koko B. Ware, Virgil, and The Big Boss Man. As a result he has now worked his way back to number contender status. Except only this time he will now be challenging "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith. Smith won the championship in front of 80,000 of his fellow country men at Wembley Stadium when he defeated Hart, the same man Michaels had failed to capture the title from on numerous occasions. On the surface it would appear that the Bulldog would be the favorite against Michaels. Bulldog has a big advantage in power and while Michaels is a tremendous in ring technician, so is Davey Boy. Speed and agility favors Michaels although it's not as big of an advantage as you would think as the Bulldog also possesses tremendous quickness as well. However Michaels is wrestling with tremendous confidence right now which could also play factor. Also in Michaels corner will be "Sensational" Sherri who can easily swing any contest in her Boy Toy's favor. At Saturday Night's Main Event Ring of Terror Bulldog will put his title on the line against Michaels. Will Michaels let another opportunity slip through his fingers? Or will the Heartbreak Kid finally fulfill his potential and back up his massive ego with championship gold? Enforcing The RulesSgt. Slaughter recently retired from the squared circle due to injuries suffered in a match with Nailz. However as one door closes another opens. Over the last year or so in the WWF the rulebrook has been thrown out the window with men like the aforementioned Nailz, Papa Shango, and The Berzerker brutalizing countless wrestlers with officials having little control. WWF President Jack Tunney has decided to make a stand and has now appointed Slaughter as WWF Commissioner to enforce the rules and oversee the officiating. Always one adapt at giving out orders, the drill sergeant seems to be the perfect man for the job. Slaughter's influence has become apparent right away. During a recent tag match the Nasty Boys were disqualified when they repeatedly kept picking up an overmatched opponent on pinfall attempts so they could continue to punish him some more. In another match the Repo Man was disqualified when he was caught pulling El Matador's tights for leverage during a pinfall. Slaughter has also shown he will take matters into his own hands if an official misses a call. During match between Virgil and Blake Beverly after Blake had seemingly won the bout by pinfall after his brother Beau had interfered and tripped Virgil from the outside on a suplex attempt, Slaughter reversed the decision and rewarded the match to Virgil by disqualification. Slaughter has made it clear that the rules will be enforced. And that's an order!

Slaughter becoming Commissioner five years early is an interesting twist. It was actually something they did in 92 as well. He wasn't called the commissioner but it was pretty much the same thing as he was a face authority figure who was enforcing the rules. It only lasted a few months and didn't go anywhere but in my rebooking it does eventually end up having a payoff.

News and NotesYokozuna: Fuji's Awesome New FindOver the last few years Mr. Fuji has been in a bit of rut from a success point. While the likes of Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Jimmy Hart have frequently managed champions, it's been nearly four years since the devious one has had a title holder. However his fortunes could be changing in a big way thanks to his newest acquisition the mighty Yokozuna. Yokozuna means grand champion which is the highest rank in sumo wrestling. And from the looks of things it seems like a strong possibility that it won't be long before this huge competitor has the highest rank in the WWF, that being the World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Champion. Tipping the scales at 505 pounds, the former sumo wrestler utilizes his tremendous bulk very well, crushing opponents with maneuvers such as the belly to suplex and the legdrop before putting them away with the Banzai Drop in which he climbs the second rope and comes down with all of his weight to flatten a unfortunate foe with a sit down splash. Yokozuna is also surprisingly quick and explosive for such a huge man which adds even more impact and force to his moves. Fuji is super confident in his Yokozuna, claiming that not only that he can't be beat but that nobody can knock him off his feet. No man has been able to prove Fuji wrong so far. However the deceitful manager might have to eat those words when his giant charge starts facing tougher competition. Comeback TrailWhen it comes to all time great champions in the history of the WWF one man that has to be close to the top of the list is Bob Backlund. Backlund, a former All American collegiate wrestler from Minnesota, held the WWF World Heavyweight Championship an incredible seventy months from February 1978 to December 1983. Only Bruno Sammartino held it longer. However for the second half of the 80's and onward long time fans have often asked "What happened to Bob Backlund?". After losing the championship in 1984 Backlund completely disappeared from the wrestling world. It's almost as if he fell off the face of the earth. After losing the title Backlund decided to return to his home in Princeton, Minnesota where he lived a quiet life with his family while running a construction business. However after over eight years on the shelf Backlund has got the itch to return to the squared circle and has decided to make a comeback to the WWF at the ripe old age of 43. Backlund has said that he has "unfinished business to take care of" and that "it's something he must do". Backlund has also stated that while he's been away he was still watching and keeping track of the WWF on TV and has been disgusted by the behavior of arrogant young wrestlers like Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon and how they treat others and is looking forward to getting them in the ring to "teach them a lesson in respect. It will be interesting to see how well Backlund fares. It appears he's still in great condition but after such a long time on the shelf he surely will have some ring rust. Also the competition in the WWF gets bigger and tougher every year and there's many skeptics that don't think Backlund will be able to hang with this stiffer opposition, most of whom are a decade or better his junior. However Backlund has proved doubters wrong in the past. In 1979 nobody thought he could defeat "Superstar" Billy Graham to win the WWF World Championship but he did. Can he do it again? Carrying On The TraditionOne of the most dangerous and unpredictable tag teams to hit in the scene in the WWF in quite some has arrived in The Headshrinkers. Hailing from the Isle of Samoa, The Headshrinkers consisting of Fatu and Samu are completely out of control in the ring and appear to be fearless, sometimes even leaping off the top rope all the way down to the arena floor outside to deliver a flying splash to do damage to an opponent. They are also managed by Afa who was one half of the legendary Wild Samoans. Afa and his partner Sika were one of the most feared teams in WWF history and held the Tag Team Championship three times. However it's being said that Fatu and Samu are even tougher then their predecessors. Along with possessing tremendous toughness they have also displayed very good tag team coordination and continuity. With all this going for them it could just be matter of time before this wild tandem successfully carries on the family tradition and become Tag Team Champions. That is certainly a 1992-ass Survivor Series card lol
Kinda weird seeing Bret and Shawn that low on the card, when they main evented irl, but your main event looks like a fun time. Plus, you've got Bret, Owen and Davey Boy teaming up (well, for now...) and that's pretty cool.
