Whoopi Goldberg was pretty funny when she first started up. Ellen ditto. Pam Ann is a very funny woman, Sarah Silverman is pretty good. Couldn't stop laughing at Dawn French when she did her solo stand up tour. Jo Brand has her moments. Yeah, women can be funny. I just tend to find that female comedians use a lot more observational humor than men who use more punchlines. Also, aside from the american ones I've seen a fair few live, which is a hell of a lot funnier than watching it on tv. Laughter is very contagious. I think they can be funny. Dawn French. Where do I know that name from?

Unless they're doing gross humor, like Lisa Lampanelli or Sarah Silverman Yeah them are prolly the only ones, cept this one I saw on Comedy Central like a month ago, she was funny. I think they aint funny cause they always joke about the same stupid stuff no one wants to hear cept for like soccer moms or something...

I always thought that Wanda Sykes was hilarious. Totally agree. Too bad her shows weren't as funny.

I've always liked Sarah Silverman and Wanda Sikes. Wanda makes that stupid CBS "comedy" that that women who played Elaine on Seinfield is on funny. (Longest run-on sentence I'll hopefully ever do)

I generally agree that women aren't funny although Sarah Silverman has makes me crack up laughing.
Maria Bamford is more cute than funny to me but I still find her entertaining.
Lisa Lampenlli sucks, I hate her and I can't believe she's the female comedian Comedy Central has been pushing (seriously? what the smurf? They push this pig and Carlos Mencia... are they just against humor?) I couldn't even make it through five minutes of Lampenlli's act before concluding she's horrible and moving on.
Wanda Sykes sucks.
That one annoying lesbian comedian, the one who talks about being a kid and wearing a bathing suit... I hate her, she's annoying.
Ellen is a pretty good story teller and she's got a lot of talent but I'm just not into her style of comedy, however I certainly don't take anything away from her.
I thought Paula Poundstone was pretty funny, especially when she was drunk... although she was pretty hit or miss.
That one lesbian comedian... not the annoying one but the funny one... the one who talks about going to Dennys high is pretty entertaining.
Laura Knightlinger is pretty good.
You know I retract my statement... women can be pretty funny just there's a lot fewer female comedians that I guess it's pretty rare.

When did Campbell voice that opinion? John Belushi apparently felt the same way, excluding Gilda Radner. Gilda is VERY over rated thought she was pretty crappy. I agree there really isnt any good woman comedian's minus the ones that are REALLY filithy

She comes off as an enthusiastic theater geek and not much else.

Hey, I didn't say Gilda was funny, Belushi did.
The women on "The Office" are all quite funny. Not so much Karen, actually. The OG Dunder-Mifflin girls.

Damn, I love Gilda Radner. She's a better comic actress than she is a comedian, but still.

By the way, the funny Lesbian comedian who's not the annoying one I was thinking of was Sabrina Matthews, she's pretty good and her comedian central half hour special was great.

Yeah, Sabrian Matthews is great. "How much pot would I have to smoke in order to consider rice cakes a food item? Packing material pressed into a disk. Yummy!"

Before I read this, I was about to say if there is one thing I can take away from this thread, it's that no one can remember the names of lesbian comedians.

To be fair I had to google for about fifteen minutes to find her name. And the annoying lesbian comedian I was talking about is Elvira Kurt... she sucks, stay away from her at all costs.

But mostly i agree, I tire of Guy Bashing and Period Jokes.

and elaine was the unfunniest of the group, her only funny parts were when she was set up with jokes by jerry, or she was telling her sexual encounters with men....
