I don't like 'gross' comedians male or female, so Silverman is out.
Lampanelli sucks.
Ellen is more amusing than actually funny.
Elvira Kurt is funny for about ten minutes.
There was some Italian woman that made me chuckle once.
I thought Chelsea Handler was pretty funny.
AND she had great cans.

Whoopi Goldberg was pretty funny when she first started up. Ellen ditto. Pam Ann is a very funny woman, Sarah Silverman is pretty good. Couldn't stop laughing at Dawn French when she did her solo stand up tour. Jo Brand has her moments. Yeah, women can be funny. I just tend to find that female comedians use a lot more observational humor than men who use more punchlines. Also, aside from the american ones I've seen a fair few live, which is a hell of a lot funnier than watching it on tv. Laughter is very contagious. I think they can be funny. Dawn French. Where do I know that name from? French & Saunders She's married to Lenny Henry She is the 'Vicar of Dibley' She's in the Harry Potter film with Azkaban, as the portrait lady.

Wait... Maria Bamford isn't a lesbian. Is she? My first reaction to that was Spykes and my second is: You are a sexist jerk and not a REAL man.

Wait... Maria Bamford isn't a lesbian. Is she? She's married to a dude... so maybe? Whoopi is horrid, I don't even consider her a comedian.

I think Dawn French and her sometimes partner, Jennifer Saunders, are pretty funny. Also, Tracy Ullman. Dawn French in this Harry Potter spoof is hilarious: youtube.com/watch?v=FcBtZcu17nQ

When did Campbell voice that opinion? John Belushi apparently felt the same way, excluding Gilda Radner. Gilda is VERY over rated thought she was pretty crappy. I agree there really isnt any good woman comedian's minus the ones that are REALLY filithy This sounds mean, but Gilda's one of those people that's overrated because she died young. It's almost like people feel bad saying these people suck because they're dead.

Female comedians aren't really that funny in my experiences. Lisa Lamponelli is just Andrew Dice Clay with hooters and a more annoying voice. I just never found their humor that great, and if that makes me a sexist for not liking something someone does, then fine, f*** it.

There are certainly some (Sarah Silverman, Ellen DeGeneres, et. al.), but I just find that there are FAR less good female comedians than there are male. Maybe there's just less of them trying to be comedians, I don't know.
That said, plenty of them are good comedic actresses, and that's a damn fine skill to have (i.e. Gilda Radner).
Believe it or not, in her younger days, Joan Rivers was pretty funny.
Lisa Lampanelli sucks, by the way.

Yeah, for the most part it's true. Wanda Sykes and Ellen both have had there moments though but they really just bring me to the brink of hilarity.

I can't believe that in all of this no one (until now) has listed Carol Burnett or Lucille Ball listed as comedic actresses that are excellent.

No offense but I always found them both incredibly overrated. Infact I don't find much of anything funny from before the mid '70s and even that is stretching it.
