It comes off like Cody and the other Elite members were on other pages creatively. And when he left, Kenny sounded like he considered Cody a work friend but not someone he'd want to spend a whole lot of time hanging out with outside of work.
That doesn't mean they ever hated each other. And the Jacksons and Cody give each other love and shout-outs over social media after he went back to WWE. I'm sure everyone here's had people they liked working with and even considered friends in that setting, but didn't consider bosom buddies either. Just different social circles.

Lord help me if I ever get to the stage in life where I rely on some youtube druid with 2k followers to support my position, not because he makes my points better or more insightfully than I could, but because this is the only type of bottom feeder that will even agree with me. Check out DarkSydePhil next, he may have some enlightening takes on the subject. I know we’re memeing but it DSP gets involved in all this I’m bouncing Here out to all Narcissists with Slicked Back Hair called Phil.

Yeah, Kenny and the Bucks are very tight in general, though with Cody, his strongest bond with the other Elite is his work ethic and enterprising. When AEW came into being, they all had a major shift to the kinds of lives they lead, and they simply had less in common after. Tons of mutual respect, and there's still affection, but they weren't grinding in ROH and NJPW to sell shirts and promote themselves to make bank. They also just got a lot busier, so Being the Elite sketches having all four of them, five or six if Page or Cole could be present, got MUCH more difficult to have time for. That, plus just different booking tastes, has always seemed like the issue, though none of that got Cody to leave. His relationship with Tony Khan (again, not due to bad blood) is much more relevant to that.

And, just as an aside, I think it is just as likely that Punk's imminent debut (likely for more money than what Cody was being offered) was the reason for his AEW departure as any animosity with the Elite. Cody's swan song promo took a direct shot at Punk, and seemed to imply that Cody was irritated that Punk talked about challenging the wrestling monopoly, and got credit for doing so, while sitting around doing nothing but being a codger on social media, while Cody actually did challenge the wrestling monopoly, but wasn't given as much credit. Cody and the Bucks, to this day, consistently praise and acknowledge one another on social media. Punk and Cody? Not so much. Speculation, sure, but if we're going to divert this conversation into the "point" being made that the Elite "drove Punk out of AEW just like they did Cody" I think that also has to be discussed. I mean, Kenny just recently said there's no beef between him and Cody, so... And just a week ago one of the Bucks did that big shout out for a bunch of people in AEW after All In, and one of the ones included was Cody with a thing about how they wouldn't have gotten there without him, and how people think they hate each other but it couldn't be further from the truth. Like, there's a reason these Cody claims are only ever from the most no-source "I have a podcast" dudes and twitter randos who know literally nothing about the situation and have zero credible claims to back up any of what they're saying.

I still think Tony made the right decision.
But I really wanna say that “CM Punk acted like a child and deserved to be fired for putting his hands on someone and physically intimidating his boss” and “The Elite/friends of the Elite provoked Punk by poking the bear by being a little douchy” are two separate things. One does not justify the other. In no world does “aww those damn flippy doos knew what Punk was like so they were just asking for it they f***ed around and found out” make any sort of sense and it not only absolves Punk of any wrongdoing, it puts Tony off the hook.
Tony allowed all of these to fester ever since moving Colt Cabana to ROH without talking to anyone about it, letting folks believe what they want, say what they want, take shots at each other, hell actually encouraging it with the “I don’t think everyone has to get along backstage” talk. He never put his foot down on anything, ala the bitch thread, tried be some Michael Scott type of boss, and hopefully now he sees that sometimes you need to tell everyone, from a CM Punk, to Jack Perry to Andrade, to Sammy Guverra to knock the shit off and act like an adult or there’s consequences.

I'm waiting for the anti-Elite/pro-Punk stan contingent to just straight up say that The Elite manipulated CM Punk via mind control and made him do all the things he did. I'm just waiting for them to pull that straw next. Might as well since the pro-Punk stan side has fully dived into conspiracy theory land.

Going to go all the way and say that the time between his last UFC fight and joining AEW he was imprisoned in an apartment-like cell with no knowledge of his captor or what he did wrong, only to be let free in time to join AEW but only after he was successfully hypnotized into doing their bidding as an act of elaborate revenge for something Punk wasn't even aware of that he did.

I maintain even before All In, Punk was damaged goods. He could only be matched up with certain people, can't really feud for a title after showing how gleefully he'll nuke all plans because someone made fun of his shoes, and can't even be trusted with a live microphone. Punk kept putting up barrier after barrier for booking him in anything and outside of Chicago, it's not like his crowd reactions were all that impressive to warrant such a limited use act.

The Bucks had a friend of theirs genetically engineer Larry to be able to drive Punk insane and plant suggestions in his head to make him paranoid and violent.

It should have never gotten this far...
No matter what side you are on it is an extremely ugly mark on AEW especially coming off what was the biggest wrestling show of all time and this is the continued headline...
Tony Khan is ultimately responsible for his business and the lack of awareness and preparation within it and Punk should have never been able to act and react as freely as he was in such a negative manner.
I wish we could stop with the generalization stuff of cults, stans, etc though as it just comes off as really antagonizing especially considering none of us fans (no matter what side your on) have a dog in this fight...and this is just in-fighting between one weirdly fragmented fanbase.
The vast majority of Punk fans understand that Punk is a total idiot for blowing one of the biggest returns of all time and going in these circles isn't going to help...
nor is making this thread or another one a CM Punk catch all thread to continue the fight.
Khan has the ROSEBUD infinite money cheat but it still sucks and will forever be a black eye on this company at such an early age...

Honestly, far from being a black eye, I’d say that in a wrestling business which has given us Vince McMahon letting Shawn Michaels lose his smile whenever he got a little cranky, Eric Bischoff giving Hulk Hogan creative control and taking leadership advice from his drinking buddies Hall and Nash, Dixie Carter letting her last image of Hulk Hogan in her promotion being her clinging to his leg begging him to stay, and Vince McMahon gift-wrapping his world title to Brock Lesnar to show up and deign to defend whenever he felt like it, this degree of accountability and house-cleaning is legitimately refreshing.

In my opinion it would be great if it felt genuine and preventative action was taken but it took him being forced before standing up for himself and his company...He said so himself.
