Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time. I love the scene where the main character is in a car, driving past a movie theater that is showing...Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time.

Nobody who doesn't take themselves seriously loves Billy Madison and I'll die on that hill. "Nobody who doesn't take themselves seriously" has turned me into the Woman Looking At Equations meme.

I've read through and have not yet seen The Princess Bride mentioned. Are there people who don't like The Princess Bride? I have actually never seen all of it. Seen pieces know all the lines that have been over-quoted for decades. Sadly I got a feeling it will end up like Monty Python and the holy grail. By the time I saw it I had had the film referenced and quoted to me so much I just didn't care for the film. I ran into that with Holy Grail where I knew most of the bits before I ever saw it. Worse I was watching it with people who insisted on quoting it as the movie played despite it being my first time watching.

Home Alone.
The old generation like it at the minimum out of nostalgia. The current generation like it at the minimum for the slapstick.
I've never met a person who dislikes Home Alone. My Grandmother that hated everything loved Home Alone.

Nobody who doesn't take themselves seriously loves Billy Madison and I'll die on that hill. Shit, I feel comfortable saying that for most Adam Sandler movies. That's kind of their point. Put a bunch of people in a room play one of his movies and they'll enjoy it even if it's formulaic. Keyword there being "most". Like, it's hard for me to imagine somebody taking serious issue with Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, or even Little Nicky, but Jack and Jill and That's My Boy are genuinely terrible.

For martial art movies, Enter the Dragon.

I might personally opt for Batman 89? It’s a movie where I’m extremely aware of its flaws but it’s just so stylish and dumb and breezy and quotable I have a hard time picturing someone hating it.

I know some people who hate Keaton Batman killing people, but that's A. more an issue in the second one like with the dynamite, and B. something that never bothered me because it's not like he's doing it as some first course of action, typically.

Put everything you've ever heard aside and just let the movie tell you the story. I live in a part of the world where anything I see has been talked about ad nauseum everywhere, so I've done my best to learn how to separate the two. I saw Princess Bride after a dozen people told me I have to see it and then went into great detail why, and the movie won me over.

Y'know, I'm a peaceful person... but I'd slap someone who'd do that to me... I watch a lot of movies alone, by the way. Can't stand theater crowds, too many inconsiderate people these days.

Of everything mentioned, I'm running with Princess Bride. I wouldn't consider any Disney/Pixar films because not everyone likes cartoons.

I cannot stand Sandlers voices. Sorry guys, I get the appeal for others but I'll pass.
I'd nominate Goonies.

I know it gets a bit of slack, maybe from a certain snobby point of view, but its a fun movie and its good when its on the telly on a Sunday evening to combat the Monday blues.

The Emperor's New Groove or Galaxy Quest? Two fantastic movies that have no right to be as good as they are.

Though they have tended to wear it out in recent years, I have only ever met one person who wasn’t a fan of A Christmas Story.
