Nobody who doesn't take themselves seriously loves Billy Madison and I'll die on that hill. Shit, I feel comfortable saying that for most Adam Sandler movies. That's kind of their point. Put a bunch of people in a room play one of his movies and they'll enjoy it even if it's formulaic. Keyword there being "most". Like, it's hard for me to imagine somebody taking serious issue with Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, or even Little Nicky, but Jack and Jill and That's My Boy are genuinely terrible. Oh 'Little Nicky' sucks. At the time it was seen, even among Sandman fans, at Sandler's fall off. It may not be as bad as "Jack and Jill," but it's a significant step down in quality.

I cannot stand Sandlers voices. Sorry guys, I get the appeal for others but I'll pass. I'd nominate Goonies. I HATE the Goonies. The Monster Squad 4 Life

I might personally opt for Batman 89? It’s a movie where I’m extremely aware of its flaws but it’s just so stylish and dumb and breezy and quotable I have a hard time picturing someone hating it. I know some people who hate Keaton Batman killing people, but that's A. more an issue in the second one like with the dynamite, and B. something that never bothered me because it's not like he's doing it as some first course of action, typically. When It came out I had a pile of issues with it. Hated Joker being the one that shot the Waynes in Crime Alley. Thought Keaton was great as Batman and horrible as Bruce Wayne. And felt it was a bit long. Now,and honestly I haven't watched it since whenever 89 hit Blu ray,I don't mind Joker being the killer and the length. But still think Keaton is not good as Bruce Wayne. It's odd I love Keaton and think he is good at drama and comedy.

I ran into that with Holy Grail where I knew most of the bits before I ever saw it. Worse I was watching it with people who insisted on quoting it as the movie played despite it being my first time watching. Y'know, I'm a peaceful person... but I'd slap someone who'd do that to me... I watch a lot of movies alone, by the way. Can't stand theater crowds, too many inconsiderate people these days. Yea I am similar. Before we start a movie she always asks "Ok is this one where if my phone rings I need to leave the room?" Also why lots of my movie watching happens late late at night. I know the chance of someoen interrupting us is low. OK thought of one, well one that everybody I have forced to watch it liked,The Brady Bunch Movie. Yea I know I know. Besides Blade Runner,TCM(74) and Rocky Horror TBBM is the film I have seen the most in my life. Was a period of over a year where if you came over to my home odds are it was playing.

I cannot stand Sandlers voices. Sorry guys, I get the appeal for others but I'll pass. I'd nominate Goonies. That is one of the 80s films that is loved. I am guessing cause it got reran on cable often back then,no clue cable didn't hit my area till the last month of 1990. I know more than a few people that hate any and all Sandler comedies. It is his voices and just personality they don't like.

I know it gets a bit of slack, maybe from a certain snobby point of view, but its a fun movie and its good when its on the telly on a Sunday evening to combat the Monday blues. Never liked it. I am sure in a theater it is an audio and visual spectacle. I just see it and think all this money spent and this is all we get. Amazing FX work, but acting and story are below average. And the plot holes... And I love science fiction. I love big dumb science fiction movies too. ID4 just does nothing for me.

Though they have tended to wear it out in recent years, I have only ever met one person who wasn’t a fan of A Christmas Story. I've always just found it kind of unpleasant.

I don’t know that I’ve ever heard a bad word about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), except for the people at the time who thought it was too violent.

Never got why people are obsessed with the Room. Not near the worst film ever. And it isnt even bad aenough to be entertaining.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory I can't stand this movie. That POS grandpa joe. Can't move or do anything but as soon as Charlie gets that ticket he's running around and dancing. Family can barely eat, but grandpa joe needs his weekly tobacco. Convinces Charlie to steal. I could go on and on but we all know he's terrible. The real villain in the movie is Grandpa Joe

The "Correct" answer is Shawshank.
I have zero desire to ever see Shawshank.

It's pretty much an unanswerable questiom. No matter how much something is loved, there are more people who either don't like it or are indifferent to it.
With that said, It's Caddyshack. Because no movie about golf should ever be as popular as Caddyshack is.

Kind of a dark horse choice, but Planes, Trains, & Automobiles.
People generally enjoy the comedy, like the two leads, and think the emotional beats land.

Back to the Future. Great concept, genuinely funny, less than two hours. Perfect.

Back to the Future. Great concept, genuinely funny, less than two hours. Perfect. I like the movie but even at its relatively short length I kind of feel like it's too long mostly due to the strange choice to have two full climaxes back-to-back.
