You find yourself in a room full of strangers. You are given the task of picking a movie that a majority of these strangers will enjoy. If you fail, the room will explode. Every movie ever made at your disposal, you can only pick one. Which movie do you choose?
I'm going Die Hard. A movie that perfectly accomplishes what it sets out to do. Easy to follow story that’s told very well. Memorable dialogue and action sequences. Rootable, Everyman protagonists. And perhaps the greatest movie villain of all-time. I pick it and don’t think twice. Comfortable in knowing that I’ve chosen the ultimate crowd pleaser. And we’re all going to walk out of there, without a scratch, like John McClane, himself, was looking out for us.

For a movie that hinges on "What if your mom wanted to bang you? She's like, really hot, though!", Back to the Future has a very broad appeal.

Back to the Future and Toy Story -- I've never encountered anyone who dislikes those movies. Even my dad, who hated animated movies, had to admit Toy Story was good when he watched it.
