I think they're used just fine IMO.
I saw some of that 6-man tag on Wednesday and yeah the Hardys aren't what they used to be.

I agree with Matt, it's frustrating how AEW uses the Hardys still

The Hardys had their E&C beloved farewell tour with the Broken Universe. That was it, the Broken character has diminishing returns each time it comes back and a WWE HoF and legends deal is probably what they should be aiming at once their contracts expire. I can think of worse fates than spending one's 50s as a wealthy stay at home dad. Especially when you consider how close both men have come to blowing away their future forever on multiple occasions. In other words both brothers should look at Sunny's fate and thank the future they have and not the one they could have had.

Matt thinks that he's much more important than he actually is. At this point in their careers neither of them can go and they should be solely putting people over.

Also, the Young Bucks helped Private Party more in a single night in 2019 than Matt has by working with them for literal years now. They have no rub to give now. When they lose I don't think wow that's a huge win for the other team I just think of course they lost, they can barely move, anyone who loses to them looks terrible. So Marq Quen hasn't been around in over a year now, but Whenever he is able to come back we need to get some sort of pay off/passing of the torch moment between the Hardys and PP to get them to that next level as a tag team. When Private Party got that win over Matt & Nick I would have bet money that they would have been tag champs within a year, but then...

Jeff's jail time totally derailed their run
also at this point in their career, while they are incredibly over they should be used to put over younger talent, especially since they have nothing left in the tank

I brought this up before Dynamite when the trios match was announced, I really don't see a place for The Hardy's in AEW anymore. They aren't bringing anything new to the table as characters, they're playing the greatest hits but the guitar is out of tune and the drummer struggles to keep up. They're legends of the sport, but it's just sad watching them in this role. I preferred HFO because atleast Matt was trying something different.
Honestly, I think they'd both be better off with WWE. WWE has more of a role for occasional legands appearances, and they have plenty to offer them to keep them busy when they aren't being used as on air talent. I'm sure Matt would be a great producer, Jeff is beloved by fans use him for personal appearances, autograph signings etc as long as he's got his head on straight. I just think they'd be a better fit to wind things up in WWE

Psht, Jeff's nothing, but there will always be room for Matt Hardy. Dude's had a dead career and completely resurrected it with a new character, like, four times now? Big Money Matt had potential, and it was clearly dedicated to getting young guys over, which is great. It didn't cohere into anything, which is on him (if you ask me, the whole group should have become Private Party). But let's not pretend AEW has been super generous with time and effort, either. Dude was doing his best work with Ethan Page on Dark.
The way AEW seems to work is, if you're an undercard wrestler, the way you get over is you're chosen by a star/booker who puts you in their faction or their enemy faction. Punk's handpicked enemies, The Firm, were bereft and adrift when he left the first time, and they were happy to use the Hardys to kill the group off, a process which ended up helping absolutely no one, and AEW has since invested zero effort into building anyone back up. Uh, and hey: putting over The Righteous, only to immediately have them squashed by one dude afterwards? Probably a little frustrating.
Say what you want about Matt, like many other veterans in AEW, he seems primarily motivated by getting the kids over. Looking at his comments, it reaaalllly seems like his frustration is focused on his recent inability to contribute to that.

Yeah Matt, I was pretty frustrated they let you continue a match where you got concussed too
I was also pretty frustrated that they booked Jeff at all, given the DUIs and shit

I'm sure Matt sees how Edge and Christian are getting booked and is probably envious of it. Jeff kinda washed that away getting into trouble right before they got the tag belts. The only thing I can think of that they could is is the TLC thing in AEW but Edge and Christian are mortal enemies. Have to agree unless they want to give the broken stuff another chapter.

That would just be dreadful at this point. They tried to do something with the Matt Hardy/Christian match last year and it was by far Christian's worst match in AEW. It felt like both Matt and Jeff got very nice little swan song matches in AEW with great moments...Matt in the initial Stadium Stampede and Jeff in that Darby/Jeff match on Dynamite...that they should have fully transitioned to mentoring Private Party at this point. Once Marq Quen is back, have them be built to finally win the tag titles or something.

The Hardys have to be realistic here. They’re both closing in on 50 years old, having wrestled pretty much non-stop since their mid-late teens (30+ years), a lot of which involved jumping off of high things and falling through things. This career of theirs has put them through the wringer, and they’ve got the scars, gait and police records to prove it. I’m not even sure they’re physically useful as enhancement guys at this point. They can look at Copeland and Cage all they like, the fact is they didn’t do as much the hardcore stuff after 2001 and also, and this is the important bit, they both spent YEARS out of the ring (Copeland about nine years, Cage six or seven), allowing their bodies to heal up to the point where they could do these comeback runs. You mentioned it briefly but besides the LOOONG stretch of time they took off... Edge and Christian also developed a style away from the Car Crash / Ladder stuff... that's kinda all Jeff had. He was the guy that jumped off things, through other things... he never developed a character beyond that. He was never a promo guy, unlike both Edge and Christian. Matt's been a little different but he was always "The other Hardy" despite actually having a few gimmicks that worked and in genera having better mic skills, he was never the star of the show like his brother.

They both have history in ROH Jeff's got history with NJPW the same way Jackie Gayda has history with WWE The crazy thing is you can just switch companies and not be completely wrong.
