Good luck to him, it's a terrible condition.
When he said he couldn't push past the pain, did he mean the pain of the Golden Jets?

This makes me wish there was a letter writing campaign like with Hogan, except it's Get Well Kenny (and also it's not kayfabe). All us little Kennymaniacs hope he can come back to the ring better than ever. ;_;

Hopefully he takes all the time he needs. I don't think anybody would blame him for taking a long time off. Diverticulitis sidelined Brock freaking Lesnar, and it's been obvious that Kenny hasn't been wrestling at 100% for years.

Kenny's an integral piece of AEW to me, so this is a huge blow. I truly hope he gets better as soon as possible, and that he takes all the time he needs to heal up.

Before he retires or goes super part-time I hope he gets to main event a Wembley show.
Cody is gone. The Bucks doing it in a tag match seems unlikely. Kenny is the most likely of those 4 original guys to do it and Wembley shows would never have been possible without them starting everything off. He made his name (mainstream wise) main eventing the Tokyo Dome with Okada and main eventing Wembley would be a great way to cap off his career.

I’ve got it too and while this shit sucks, with a big change in diet, it can be manageable.
But, when it flares up, you can’t do anything. I’m sure that’s what Kenny is dealing with right now.
Hopefully they can adjust things and he can get to feeling better asap.

Yeah, it might be manageable with some changes, in which case he could be back pretty soon, or it might require what Lesnar got, which would make it a longer recovery. Whatever it is, I’m just glad they caught it, dude’s put his body through hell for the fans and should take whatever he needs to recoup.

So, I'll say this about Diverticulitis - there's been many, MANY advances in the treatment of it in the past five-six years, much more so than when Brock was treated for it, almost night and day. 2021 in particular saw a lot of new research made public that's really changed everything from patient comfort to regained ability, etc.
Based on this and Kenny getting it at age 40 MUCH younger than the average age for it, there's no reason to think that he won't make a complete 100% recovery to the Kenny we love without missing a step.
That's not to say Diverticulitis isn't incredibly serious and something to definitely be concerned about (and my thoughts and best wishes toward everyone in this thread currently battling or having recovered from it), but rather a recovery from it looks different now than the last time Brock battled it.
A sad note though, from my understanding is that while ability and everything returns, modern Diverticulitis survivors are advised to never eat popcorn or anything with seeds again, which unless I'm misremembering would take out a lot of Kenny's personal favorite foods. I don't want t speculate, even though I just did, but that's a bummer to think about.

Yeah, someone I know has Diverticulitis they can't have any seeds or things of that nature my understanding is that it might get stuck .

I think you also have to adopt a high fiber diet?

I went about 2 years without any flare ups, then had a burger that was on a sesame seed bun and didn’t even think about it. Spent the next week not being able to move without insane pain.

Dear wrestlers and wrestling culture STOP KILLING YOURSELF FOR AN INDUSTRY THAT WON'T CATCH YOU WHEN YOU FALL He was sick before the Page match and still wrestled, and guess what, it turns out he has diverticulitis. That seems pretty bad! Probably shouldn't have wrestled on that! Too many wrestlers continue to work hurt, and get shitloads of praise for it from fans and other wrestlers, and it's f***ing appalling. I hope Kenny rests for as long as he needs to, maybe heals up an injury or two while he's off, and comes back feeling better and wrestling less often so that we get to have him for longer

I'm sure plenty of wrestlers have wrestled under the weather, which yeah is definitely not ideal, but it's still a matter of degrees.

He probably thought he just had a stomach bug at first and not something as serious as diverticulitis. Especially when the early symptoms are just typical stomach bug stuff like nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc. and Kenny also doesn't seem like he has any of the obvious risk factors.
He probably didn't realize how serious it was until the symptoms not only didn't go away after a few days, but got actively worse.

It absolutely is a matter of degrees, but I have been hearing for years about how Kenny is broken down as f*** and still working, so it's just the latest example

I don't know if this had anything to do with it or not, but while Kenny looks better and is in better shape than a majority of people something felt off with how he looked. I don't know what gave me the vibe but he just has looked a bit unwell.
