88. 28 Days Later - Watched this on Blu-ray. I ordered the Blu-ray of this, along with the Blu-ray of "28 Weeks Later" off of eBay a few weeks ago. As a matter of fact, I won the auctions and got fair enough deals on them. I told myself to watch this one tonight.
I had heard plenty of good things about this film. Before I get into my take on the film, I will say that despite buying the Blu-ray, the picture wasn't that great, but I'll let it slide given that it was shot with a Canon XL1 with 512x492 resolution, but I let it slide because the picture quality added to the overall feel of this movie. It's weird because while this movie is considered a zombie film, I think this film was what also set the trend involving zombies of a different sort that they were infected with a virus that makes them more feral and rabid than anything. I would almost think it inspired games such as "The Last of Us" and "Days Gone."
I thought that Alex Garland had a good script and story for this film. I also thought that Danny Boyle's direction worked in some scenes, especially with some of the closeups to some things that were in the foreground, as well as that shot with the camera ascending as the characters drove down to Manchester and saw that it was up flames. The sexual tension between Cillian Murphy and Naomie Harris didn't feel forced nor did it have too much focus as the their character developments drove the plot more, which worked when there was a time and a place for their romantic subplot.
I noticed that there were some deleted scenes and alternate endings for this. I may check them out soon.
I may watch "28 Weeks Later" soon, and maybe read the comics based on this film.

Thriller about woman convicted of murdering her husband only to discover he's still alive. Pretty meh.

37. The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
I'd been looking forward to this since Snow was the most interesting part of the originals. Didn't go the way I was expecting, but there's still space for that story of him playing the political game if they wanted to.
Loved the performances, they all feel real, the design and world are fantastic as steps to where we know it goes.
Probably could have cut out maybe half an hour to tighten it up, but it didn't drag and happy with every minute I spent with it.

62-Evicted-York Entertainment DVD
Paid a buck. Thought I was gonna get an American Pie like comedy, cause of Shannon Elizabeth being the only person on the cover and how the back of the dvd case compares the film to Rock N Roll High School,Dazed and Confused and Slacker.
Micro and T are broke and close to being evicted. Shannon is a stripper who gets maybe 10 minutes of screeen time.
Once he knows he is evicted Micro throws a big party. And that is the last 2/3rds of the film.
This feels like the writer and director saw Clerks and wanted to make that movie but with scummier leads.
And this would be one of the many totally forgotten movies made after Clerks, but 2 things keep that from happening. First off while this was filmed in 98/99 it didnt get released till 2004. Which by then Shannon Elizabeth was a big star. So an early film role from her helps this not be forgotten. Then the other is this is the last role for Laurence Tierney.
With a slightly bigger budget and some better casting this could be at least a decent cult classic. As is it is another forgotten 90s comedy.
4.6 bathtub acid trips out of 10
63-SAVED!-MGM DVD
I know I saw this years ago. She is a huge Mandy Moore fan. Great plot and well cast. Thinking this might be the best film I have seen Macalluy Culkin in.
7.8 massive zits on Mandy Moore's Chin out of 10.

89. 28 Weeks Later - Watched this on Blu-ray. I had done some research prior to watching this film. I knew that this was a standalone film as no characters from "28 Days Later" returned. I read that Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris, and Megan Burns were asked to return but declined due to other projects at the time. While it could help to watch the predecessor to know about the Rage virus that is a key plot element in these films, it's not necessary as this could be watched it on its own.
As for the film itself, I saw that it was different than its predecessor. It has a different feel to it. I think it was because there was a different director this time (I might have to add that Danny Boyle was approached to direct this one, but he, too, had other projects going on). There was a little more action this time around, as well as some suspense. I also have to give Robert Carlyle credit for his performance, especially when his character was infected. However, I could see that in some scenes, there was an underlying theme about choice and how some choices can affect things. It worked with the way the story was told.
I could see why a lot of people prefer "28 Days Later." I would say it was the better film, but that isn't to say that I didn't like this film, which I did.
I must add that next year, "28 Years Later" will come out with Alex Garland writing the script and Danny Boyle directing. I have also read that there was talk of "28 Months Later," which didn't happen. I wonder if there is a script online somewhere.

90. The Hitcher (1986) - Watched this on Max. I had rented (or borrowed) the 2007 film from the library, but I wanted to watch this version first.
I have to say that it's definitely well regarded and with good reason. I felt the terror C. Thomas Howell's character went through. Rutger Hauer was one scary dude in this film, too. I felt the suspense throughout the film. At first, I didn't like it when one person was killed off, but I see why it was done and it worked.
ETA*
91. The Hitcher (2007) - Watched this on DVD. Call me lenient on remakes if you must, but I am not like a lot of people who dismiss remakes at first glance. There are plenty of decent, if good remakes out there. I have seen and defended some remakes because some of them are different takes on the plots of those films. The point I am trying to make is that remakes aren't always a bad thing. However, there are remakes that aren't so good.
This is one of those examples, unfortunately.
Despite it not being a good film, I can think of some redeeming qualities. Sean Bean did fine. He was intimidating, but I found Rutger Hauer frightening in the original. There was some suspense in some scenes. Even some of the lighting in some scenes added to the feel. I also didn't mind that some bits were lifted from the original. Some of the soundtrack was decent, especially given how mid-2000s this film was when I heard "Move Along" by The All-American Rejects.
However, I don't think it was enough to save it. Some parts felt a little more action-y like the chase scene and also the explosion towards the end (I wonder if some of it was because Michael Bay was one of the producers). I know some thrillers like this have action scenes. The original film had an action sequence, too. I think some of the problems with the film were because I didn't have much reason to care about the main characters. I didn't like the changes made with some of the characters, either. There is nothing wrong with making changes to differ from the original, but I just didn't think it worked here.
I am aware that a sequel to the 1986 original exists, but I heard that a lot of plot elements from that film were used in the 2007 film. I'm not sure if I want to watch it but I am curious about it.

74. The Mummy (1932)75. Blades of Glory (2007) 76. The Muppet Movie (1979) 77. Teenagers from Outer Space (1959)Another one where I don't remember what put this on my radar, but it's on YouTube. Simple story, aliens come to Earth with the intent on using it as grazing ground for their food supply, one younger alien refuses and runs off, and teaming up with a local girl tries to stop them. It's what you'd expect. Bad acting, slow pace, non-existent production budget. It does do a decent job building up tension at points, so it's not as boring as some of the other drive-in B-movies I've seen, but it's nothing all that particularly interesting either. 78. Streets of Fire (1984)I first heard about and watched this movie about two years ago during the pandemic and it has quickly grown into one of my favorite 80's movies. The 50's greaser movie motif mixed with the gritty 80's dark fantasy style, and just a pinch of cyberpunk, gives it probably one of the most unique aesthetics I've seen. Throw in some wild action, cool dialogue and an awesome soundtrack, and you probably have one of the most underrated movies ever made. I'm genuinely surprised it isn't more widely known and praised.

Wow, I remember the hype at the time, it feels almost forgotten now. Cgi could be shakey but this was a journey, what good sci-fi should be, can't say how much I love it.

92. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga - Saw this in theaters. I had initially planned on seeing this with a couple of people, but whenever I talked about it, they were either booked that weekend, or something else had come up. Given that this had not been doing too well, I was not going to wait for this to come on Max because I would rather watch this on the big screen.
It was worth seeing it that way, too.
I was not expecting the story to be told in chapters. It worked that way as it touched on the titular character's backstory and also stories about her journey. Anya Taylor-Joy did well as Furiosa and wasn't trying to be like Charlize Theron. I think this was also the first time I saw Chris Hemsworth play a villain (okay, there was the 2016 Ghostbusters film, but that character was possessed by the main villain's spirit). It seemed like he hammed it up in that role that he was actually entertaining in the role in some scenes.
It may have been long in length, but it did not drag at all. It didn't feel like it was 2.5 hours long.

Would you recommend seeing “In a Violent Nature” in theatres or should I wait? Big slasher fan, but I’ve heard mixed reviews.

93. Godzilla Minus One - Watched this on Netflix. I had heard a lot of good things about this film. I recall it was showing at a nearby theater but I didn't get a chance to see it. I also recall that a black and white version was released but I didn't get a chance to see that version, either. One day I might do that. However, I finally got to see this film. It really lives up to its reputation.
I didn't go into this expecting anything like WB's Monster-Verse or anything like that. With that said, I enjoyed this type of take on the Godzilla character. Granted, there was a lot more story in here than I anticipated, some being emotional that hit the feels for me. I was also impressed by the visual effects. I read that Godzilla was done in CGI, but it almost looked like someone in a suit. I wondered if some of the other effects were practical because it looked like some miniatures were used. If they weren't miniatures, then color me impressed with how the effects were done.
