Also looking at the rankings is Thunder Rosa back now? Her and Deonna both are above Skye Blue and Hikaru Shida which seems weird to me.
Than again I haven't watched in a bit so Rosa could have returned, and Deonna could have not been hot shot to #1.
Also some rankings in tag and trios seem odd too, and why is Hangman #2 in Mens? Swerve definitively won that feud. I think I need to pull up the DVR and binge the last couple months of Dynamite.

Rosa returned at the end of last year and has had three matches, two singles and a tag.

I don't get the question about Hangman? He and Swerve have been achieving parity with wins, and Swerve is ranked higher presumably on the basis of having beaten Hangman twice.

What you need to know about the new rankings is they are entirely reflective of the last month only of wins and losses, because they're brand new rankings, and they will update each month now and not each week So some wrestlers have wrestled and won more matches in January than others, Swerve and Hangman are both undefeated in January and have been wrestling almost every week to face Joe

See, i'm fine with having rankings and such, but this really highlights what's been bothering me more and more with Tony's booking : he's often making his endgame so obvious early on that 90 % of the matches that happen on tv are essentially filler. You have so many fighting champs, open challenges, title matches going on (including ROH matches, and the odd foreign company title match happening in AEW) that are just showcases for the title holder or the biggest name in the match, that they end up being fine matches, but without any stakes.
I don't know, I'm just a bit tired of the current AEW formula, it could do with a little shake-up here and there.

New rankings dropped: Damn, that course correction on the tag division rankings. Nice to see a more proper tag team lineup as opposed to last month's hodge podge.

New rankings dropped: Few notes for each Singles: Takeshita in the top 5 is a big win, really glad to see it Tag: Looking more coherent now after another month. FTR vs Mox/Claudio looks like it might set up the next contenders unless the Bucks leap them. Ricky and Bill obviously are also still in the mix... if they stay together. Trios: FTR/Garcia have the spot but they're opting to go for other belts, wondering if Bullet Club Gold turn on Acclaimed sooner rather than later, because Hardys/Mark Briscoe also haven't done anything, might change for this House of Black feud. Womens: Pretty much the same as expected. Willow might be looking to push up the ranks with Skye ranked 4th, Statlander is also hanging around. Shida's been away a bit so unsure if she'll keep her spot unless she returns in time Overall solid heading into the second drop, all of these make sense

So did they just drop the rankings again? I've heard maybe they're monthly and if so, we should be seeing them later this week. But yeah, seems odd they're not out yet.

They might be waiting until next week since there's so many title matches on Dynamite

Honestly, if it ends up becoming an end of month thing, that's fine. Especially if it's closer to a PPV like this one seems to be.

They gotta fix this shit if you gonna keep doing it, lmao. Take LOST his last big singles match, no bullshit. How is he now in line for a title match because he beat Medium “Bulge” McGraw on Rampage??
There’s a reason college football rankings value strength of schedule and margin of victory. Losing a big bout decisively means more than beating a couple underneath guys that should be lay ups in theory.
And you could have still gotten the rankings over with this match! “If Swerve wins, he’ll all but be locked into the #1 spot but Take, while not quite at the top of the ladder, could easily land himself a top 3 spot with a win here” and you didn’t devalue your #1 spot but no. Just f***ing call it a #1 contender’s match 😭😭😭

I really did like the ranking system, but the discussion around it is tiresome. Some people seem to think it should work exactly the same as pro sports and be mathematically sound, others are more willing to go with the rankings being kayfabe and don't mind if they're smudged a little, and nobody seems to agree which is best.

People do overthink the hell of out it a lot and it’s one of those things I get and should be ironed out but on the other hand, you can storyline justify some stuff rather than keep grounded in doing it. And then there’s people who are like “Why are we counting other shows?!” and it’s like “Well, because the people involved want you to watch them and have them be important?”. If they didn’t count, then they might as well not exist.
