They were a family night tradition for me as a kid, but I readily acknowledge there were some doozies. Fireball island was fun but insanely complex. When you step back and look at it, Mouse Trap was designed by a certified genius or an authentic wacko. And now there is a board game called Flushing Frenzy, a board game the revolves around pooping. What’s your pick?

Perfection, when you think about it. Basically a puzzle where you match shapes quickly or else BOOM. And even after you finish it they still go BOOM unless you stop the mechanism.

When you think about it, the person who made Monopoly must have really hated their friends.

mouse trap was incredible, having to build up the device was great, that kind of 3D progression hasn't really been matched has it! sure buckaroo and operation was kinda that, but that was on another level!

No one played Mouse Trap the way it was written up to be played. Same with Monopoly.

Are You Dumber Than a Box of Rocks?
It's a trivia game where you're literally up against a box of rocks.

You ever played Perfection as a kid? You have problems with anxiety now as an adult.

Gooey Louie involves picking boogers out of a man's nose until his brain pops out of the top of his head.

Doggy Doo
The year that game came out every kid I knew wanted it. Sold out fast locally too.
Now feels like it is forgotten.

Not so much a board game but a game of timing, but Turn the Terrible Tank was one of those games.
Consisting of a sloped plastic bridge/track with a spring loaded garrison at each end that fired ball bearings up and over the bridge and a tank with no gun turret but a spiral drill as its weapon, the goal was to fire the ball bearings back and forth to turn the aforementioned terrible tank toward your opponent.
The key was to hit the oscillating up/down switch on the underside of the tank with a ball bearing to turn it away from hitting your garrison and "exploding" it, thereby losing the game.

When you think about it, the person who made Monopoly must have really hated their friends. We never had drama with monopoly. I was surprised to learn that so many have. Risk on the other hand, Risk came close to ending friendships.

I picked one up at a convention called Good Dog, Bad Zombie.
"In Good Dog, Bad Zombie, you bark, sniff, and lick your way through the apocalypse to save the hoomans you love. Zombies roam the city, but you and your doggo friends have found refuge in Central Bark. You’ll have to cooperate as a pack of dogs to sniff out hoomans in hiding and bring them back to safety. But beware! The danger of the city could turn your pack feral before you get a chance to build your forever home."

The Mad Magazine Game IIRC one of the rules was you had to use your left hand to roll the dice. Owner of the commic shop I went to years ago had a copy. Once a week he would do "Late night" gaming. The shop would be closed ,the late night gaming was invited only. And we would play old board games or magic deck drafting.

Unmatched is one of my current favorites. It basically plays like games kids would imagine in school about what if x fought y, who would win. Except over half the historical/mythical figures aren’t even fighters n the traditional sense… or any sense really.
For example some of the characters you can put against each other in bloody combat are Nikola Tesla, Little Red Riding Hood, Bigfoot, Bloody Mary, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Houdini, the Genie of the Lamp, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a pack of Velociraptors, William Shakespeare, Bruce Lee, and a whole lot of others.
But wait, there’s more. Don’t want to play a tabletop version of epic battle simulator? Then how about teaming up your characters to stop Mothman from blowing up bridges, or fend off a Martian invasion, cause you can do that too.
