Gotta keep the course, I said it. Product is cold, gonna take a few months to turn it around, etc. TK has got to fight his own worst tendencies if he wants to pull the nose up though. Like, enough of the "I respect you but I gotta prove I'm better!!" stuff. Dawg, no, hahaha. Even UFC understood a long time ago that what sells fights is HATE. When Hangman was talking about his match with Punk and basically said "f*** all them stars, I'mma f*** dude up because I don't like him for real." THAT is more of what this company needs. I think this is the one thing I hope AEW gets out of the Hangman/Swerve feud, among others. The best parts of sports is the rivalries. When it leaves the competitive realm, and just goes straight into the hate territory. That's how you get a sports based product to cook with gas, not soap opera material.

When it leaves the competitive realm, and just goes straight into the hate territory. That's how you get a sports based product to cook with gas, not soap opera material. I honestly don't even think the AEW product is cold right now. I think it's more a case of AEW's live television viewership having distilled down to its core fanbase by virtue of having existed for over 4 years at this point. That happens with literally every television show that has ever existed. Just because it's on my mind due to coming on after Dynamite and entering its last season, just look at Young Sheldon. Season 1 averaged 16.3 million viewers and Season 6 averaged 9.32 million viewers. Some people just stop watching things live when it's not the new hotness anymore. To me, AEW's core fanbase keeping it within the Top 5 week in and week out is a good thing and a sign of the company's continued viability and success. I swear, AEW is the only entertainment property I can think of that draws so much flak for appealing too much to its fans and not appealing enough to non-fans. It's bizarre. But, at the end of the day, it's all that keeps toads like Jim Cornette clinging to relevancy, so it's never going to go away.

It's near the playoffs too so the ratings are gonna take a big hit too and all the trolls are gonna do a victory lap.

Dude needs to work a lot harder on his story telling. Yeah wrestling matches are cool but we need more than that.

I could be wrong, but it feels like every week the number goes down a cliff when the young bucks are on. They don’t. Their segments were some of the highest since they returned. That slot has always been the worst performing regardless. Feel like at least some of that is people flipping channels between AEW and Survivor and that chunk is Tribal Council.

I get people want her to wrestle, Dynasty's in a few weeks so she will, but telling what is basically now their biggest women's talent to not talk as much also feels kind of... shitty? I get Mone's not rock solid on the mic, but they're actively giving the women more segments and time off the fact she exists. She's been all over the shows, and featured at the beginning and end of show cards... you do her match on TV, it gets like 900K views? Then congrats, she didn't break a million, because lose-lose situation goalposts You do not do shit to pop a one week rating, that is literally something WCW taught everyone... you can obviously do crazy stuff, but AEW does do that, they give away a lot of insane matches on free TV, which is also why doing Mone's first contest on free TV makes even less sense to me. You have a PPV to sell, she's drawing tickets, she's doing what she needs to do right now and until Dynasty gets here. Copeland’s first two matches were on TV. Danielson’s first 9 matches were on TV. Adam Cole’s first 7 matches were on TV. Also they debuted Punk with only like 3 weeks before a PPV. So it wasn’t that long to wait to see him wrestle. With Mercedes, you’re talking about SIX weeks or more. That’s a long time for a woman who’s biggest talent is her in ring work.

I guess, but Tony doesn't generally drag his heels in cases like this (when in comes to keeping to a game plan like Cargill/Statlander? Oh heck yeah that's a slooooow burn). Cole didn't even have the excuse of wrestling on a named Dynamite. All within two & a half weeks of their debut.
The Punk outlier's about the same.
You're tilting at windmills I think. I would hope no one at FAN is coming at this sideways in the way you might suppose. But wrestle more, i.e. actually wrestle? I'm for that.

One of these weeks I'm just going to copy and paste in posts from previous ratings threads and see if anyone notices.

This is not to say this week's rating is good but I feel like data like this helps contextualize ratings trends over the past few years:

Dude needs to work a lot harder on his story telling. Yeah wrestling matches are cool but we need more than that. AEW has incredibly few "matches for the sake of matches". I think I get what he was going for, in the sense that the matches generally are really good and storylines generally are just ok Like Danielson vs Ospreay I cannot wait for, that match is going to absolutely rule but the storyline is essentially “Let’s see who is the best” but there is no hostility to it. Some people that will work for and are going to like it and some want there to be a bit of an edge to it So think poster is looking for more stuff along the lines of Swerve vs Hangman etc I agree with the poster who said stay the course, I think the past couple of months have shown a good basis to move forward with and a few more tweaks will help the perception at least Edit: Dynamite at least. Collision still has major relevancy issues IMO

She's going to wrestle Like... Again, kind of shocked people just expect her to have her first match not on a PPV. Then what about Edge, Danielson and Cole all having their first matches on TV? She's the most high profile signing in the women's division and her whole gimmick is about Mone... why wouldn't she wrestle her first match on the PPV? Again don't see what having her wrestle on TV is gonna do outside of either bumping the rating one week or not bumping it enough that people goalpost about it.
