Raw was down too..(3.0)..how much of that was TNA and how much was changed schedule is up for debate. What was the RAW rating last time it wasn't at it usual time? That will clear that up. Last time it was on another channel it was a 3.6. Last time it was on at another time it was a 3.3.

Raw can do up to above a 4.0, but it usually gets a 3 something (3.4-3.6) due to competition from Monday Night Football on ESPN.

Last year's Thursday Raw drew a 3.3, so I wouldn't say it's too bad, I'm sure it'll be a 3.7 or 3.8 on Monday when it's back in it's original timeslot.
But yeah that pretty much killed any notion that TNA is ready to go head-to-head with WWE, plus they need to advertise a lot more and that "This is TNA" special from what I hear didn't exactly draw a whole new slew of fans, a live taping as others have said would have a lot better.
I didn't see last night's show as Raw was more interesting to me, but I did switch off on commercials and the only thing that really entertained me was the Nash/Lethal/Dutt skit, apart from that it was boring.

I think the reality of the situation is that there is a very finite market that wants to see professional wrestling on television and most of that audience prefers something similar to what the WWE is offering. Furthermore, it'd seem the audience that prefers the WWE product also is willing to spend more on merchandise and PPVs.
TNA's stuck in an identity crisis, as they can stay true to their roots and deliver matches that focus on athleticism while keeping a small niche market, or attempt to capture the WWE market and go further down the path they've been in for a while with a refocus on storylines and character building. Organizations like ROH have the advantage of lower costs and can chase that niche market and be financially sound (for the most part). With TNA's current marketing strategy, I really don't think they can try and appeal to that small market and keep their investors.

I still think TNA can tap into WWE's audience without losing/alienating the regulars, but it will be hard to do quickly.

I am waiting for Kent Jones and Kurt Angle's response to this. I am sure both will claim that the TNA rating was higher then the WWE's.

I think when MVP appeared on RAW, 3/4 of the TNA viewers switched to WWE just to see his greatness. Hence MVP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> TNA

Damn. And it was a good episode, too. Hope the replay does better, unless a lot of people want ot see a replay of RAW, too. Most people (at least on this forum) only seem to watch RAW to whine about how awful it was. So, yeah, there'll be alot of moaners watching that replay. I used to do that. But the last 2 weeks I just skipped RAW. No point in watching a crap show. I watched Impact last night instead.

I wonder how TNA is going to react to this. Probably say it was a good try and give Russo his undeserved dues. It's what they've done every other time

Damn that sucks. Not that I was expecting them to beat WWE but Impact was a lot better than previous weeks.

Like I said, they need to stop trying to insist they're a competitor for the E and just focus on being an alternative right now.

I wonder how TNA is going to react to this. TNA had record ratings this past Thursday. It was the highest rated wrestling program that had a Gauntlet with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle in it.

Hmmm. I guess we won't be seeing a new revival of the Monday Night Wars anytime soon. WWE put TNA in the camel clutch, and made it humble.

I believe that WWE should never acknowledge them or any of the things they say, but I would LOVE to see them flash a graphic on the screen that said something like "0.5, lol."
Or when a heel does something horrible, JR could say, "King, thats lower than primetime rating on Thursday nights."
