Last night's airing of TNA Impact took a huge hit in the ratings as the show drew a 0.59 rating going head-to-head with a special Thursday night airing of WWE RAW. Last week's show drew a 1.1 rating, and thus there was a 47% decrease in viewership this week. This was the least watched edition of Impact in the show's history since the move to Spike TV. Additionally, the two hour replay of 'This is TNA!' that preceded last night's Impact drew an even lower rating, a 0.48 cable rating.
'Pros vs. Joes', which aired right after RAW and Impact had concluded at 10 p.m., drew a 0.77 rating. 'Inside the UFC', which usually draws a fraction of Impact's audience, drew a 0.46 rating.

Guess that special didn't entice anyone to watch instead of Raw.

Damn. And it was a good episode, too. Hope the replay does better, unless a lot of people want ot see a replay of RAW, too.

Hardly surprising, really. WWE's a lot more mainstream than TNA is. As much as I rag on TNA for sucking lately (and they do), this has more to do with how big WWE is, not them.
They should take this as an indication that they're nowhere NEAR a competitor for the E, and just try to be a good alternative.

Well said, and it;s good market tracking for TNA to know that "their" audience really does overlap quite a bit with WWE, so they can cannibalize the WWE market share too.

This should put the whole idea of them competing against each other on any given night to bed for a while. However it wont.
Raven Michaels is dead on. Air a live iMPACT! (a one hour special and a one hour live show or mix the two together) on Monday and it would have been much smarter.

Yeah. What a competitor, that TNA. Maybe they'll give up the "we want to go head-to-head" spiel for a while now. Doesn't help that the show stank either. First half of the show: One match (a squash), an arm wrestling contest, two promos, an Eric Young skit, Paparazzi Idol, Sabin acting old, and Killings playing Rocky. Wow, what a way to hook viewers. Way to go, TNA. Don't put on actual, full-length matches, that would have been so DUMB. Wacky skits was the way to do it. And people wonder why they struggle so much.

The only positive spin I can put on this is...there were times when TNA only did a .7 uncontested by WWE in the time slot...and almost pulling a .6 head to head says to me that their audience HAS grown.
But yeah..I've never seen the logic of TNA going after the top spot..and maybe this is a semi painless way to wake them up to the fact that they need to concentrate on being a good alternative that will hopefully make money.

Let's be honest, who DIDN'T see this coming? I'll be honest that it's worse than I expected--I really got caught up in my own smarkdom and started thinking of TNA's audience as different from WWE's. But I agree that a LIVE TNA show really just became a lot more marketable now.

Wow...almost as low as WSX. Wonder what the "TNA is gonna destroy WWE and become the new #1 promotion" shooters are gonna say now. On the plus side, Angle just got 5 movie offers in the last 5 minutes alone ;D

Still nothing compared to the competition of the Monday Night Wars, and TNA lost a much greater percentage of its aud than Double Double E did.
