They had a "In Memory of..." right at the beginning of the show. I had the tv muted, so I don't know if they actually mentioned his name on air, though. Really? That's odd, I didn't see it....oh well

According to my friend, BTR is saying Awesome hung himself.
Seriously, whenever I younger and would talk about my dream of one day being a pro wrestler, the guy who I always said, I was literally scared of ever facing, was Mike Awesome. That man was single handedly one of my favorite wrestler's growing up as probably the youngest kid in the Elks Lodge for the old ECW Queens shows.

I love the matches he did in FMW as The Gladiator.
Had some wild six man tags with i.e. Terry Funk and Masato Tanaka

Was it really suicide? Could it have been foul play?

Every time I watch the Awesome/Tanaka ONS match I can't help but be awed. I also can't help wanting to punch JBL in his face.

I was getting ready to get offline last night and watch the "Extreme Rules" DVD when I found that Awesome died... I then went to the world title match with him and tanaka and that as a tribute..... RIP Mike.. You kept me interested in ECW at a time I was about to quit watching it.... On another note how? why? ?

Why Mike why? I wasn't a big fan of mike, as i never got to see him in his ECW days, but i did in WCW and his short(too-short) WWE career, but it's very tragic to hear of the suicide. I saw the amazing match of him and Tanaka at ONS 2005 and i wonder why the hell they never kept him, they should've, i wouldn't be surprised if the WWE kept him meaning he had a healthy wage, this might've been avoided. RIP MIKE.

R.I.P. Mike Awesome....one of my favorite unstoppable monsters of all time.
I was sorry to see him leave ECW, but he one of the few wrestlers who could make WCW somewhat watchable, and the only one to make me actually buy one of their ppvs.
Somebody please make a tribute video with his GOOD entrance music (Bruce Dickinson - The Zoo)

I thought 'The Zoo' was Bam Bam's 2nd ECW theme after welcome to the jungle, not Mike Awesome's theme? I could be wrong, but that's what I thought. Of course, they could both have had that theme.

Pretty sure The Zoo was Awesome's during his first run (pre knee injury), and later Sid's.

It sucks. Awesome was something else. I always thought his name sounded dumb when I had heard of him but not seen him. That ended the first time I saw him go to work. The sight of that dude coming flying over the top was quite impressive. As was The Awesome Bomb. Especially on little Spike Dudley. He and Masato Tanaka were like peanut butter and jelly chemistry-wise. Shame on WCW for doing him the way they did. To his credit, Awesome tried to make 70's guy and the fat chick thriller work. It's sad how many great wrestlers are dead seemingly prematurely now.

Check out his matches with Kobashi from '99 and 2004. A little different than what he usually see from Mike. Proves that he was also a damn good worker.

That about him gearing up for another run makes me even more skeptical and confuse as to it being suicide. If he wanted to return to the ring why would he suddenly do what he supposedly has done? It just seems strange to me.
