They said this when Paul London and Kendrick won the tag titles.
It's just smarkbait

There's more money in Punk chasing the champion than him being the champion right now. He has no real challengers. Before you say Burke, we've seen Punk beat him countless times already, it would get old fast. I don't think Big Daddy V as a longterm challenger would be generate much interest and I really like the character. But is there money in having him chase Morrison again? I haven't watched it, granted, but by most accounts it wasn't like the feud was drawing much heat. At least in this way it has a resolution...would it really make any sense to just start it up again as if nothing happened?

I just think they weren't giving them enough time on PPV to really work up a heat filled match.

I just hate all the face champ chasing. Can't we have the face get a decent run before a heel wins again.

A wrestler shouldn't get their title back RIGHT AFTER they come back from suspension. It sets a bad example. Punk should have a long reign as champion, as he's earned it. They need to send some more wrestlers to ECW (heels especially), though.

You mean just like they did with Jeff Hardy?

Just to clarify, I'm not saying he should lose the title back IMMEDIATELY. But I do think there could be some money in him working so hard to get this belt and have him get screwed out of it by Morrison and have to work even harder to get it, slowly driving him mad because it just keeps slipping through his fingers every single time.

Big surprise, they didn't want to put the belt on Punk at the second biggest event of the year and only put it on him when the champ got suspended. Why should I have expected anything different?

Not really, I think all signs were pointing to Punk winning the title at Unforgiven and if Morrison wasn't suspended they would've announced that match this week and the match we saw last night would've been put on Unforgiven I believe with Punk getting the victory.

If/when Marcus Cor Von comes back. They should add him in a tweener role and just let him be the character we know he can be. He should be a guy who fights faces and heels and let the fans decide if they want to cheer him or not. A main event scene with Punk as champion, Morrison, Elijah Burke, and Cor Von would be gold.

im a Morrison mark, but even I'll admit thats one of the dumbest ideas i've ever heard. you'd basically be rewarding him for whatever it was he did that got him suspended, if this is true.

I love some Morrison, but if this happen to be true, they're not very polite to Mr. Punk's title reign and his fans. My thoughts exactly. I consider myself a fan of both Punk and Morrison, but at least make Morrison bust HIS ass for the belt, like Punk did. Otherwise, the angle had no point. I guess Punk has a month or so to show management he can carry the ball.

I'll believe this when it happens, simply because the thought of it pisses me off too much.

Morrison is not over.
Punk is.
You don't put someone who isn't over as one of your top champions. All that does is devalue the title, I mean if the fans don't care about the champion, then how can they care about the title?
Punk is the only guy in ECW right now that the fans really care about. And WWE needs to realize this, Punk is the only guy in ECW that the fans treat like a star.
I read that Steve Austin gave a speech backstage at Summerslam talking about how nobody there is a star. Well it's kind've hard to be a star when the company pushes people that the fans don't care about and constantly find ways of keeping the hot guys cooled off.
Punk needs to hold on to the title until December-Janurary and then move to Smackdown to go after the U.S. Title. A 3-4 month ECW Title reign will not only help elevate Punk even more, but to also help give the brand the champion they need.

To be fair, live reports seem to indicate a very hot crowd. Especially ECW.

I always wanted Punk as champion because he basically carried the show for most of the year especially during the Lashley and McMahon reigns.
