I would've had Austin try to attack the Higher Power, only to get attacked by the Ministry. Then they'd hold his arms, allowing the Higher Power to plant him with a familiar move--the DDT. He then unmasks as Roberts and cuts a promo. He would explain that his run as a Christian was merely a ruse designed to create, in his words, "a chaos bringer"--Austin. By "creating" Austin (by becoming his victim), Roberts introduced chaos into the WWF. He knew that Austin's rise would cause Vince to take action, bringing the two sides into conflict and leaving the company ripe for takeover. And while Taker had opposed him in the past by succumbing to a false sense of morality, he had now come back to his dark ways (and to Jake). It could've been a huge dialectic web that connected every angle in the WWF. you sir need to write for the double double E! Thanks.

Ted would have made sense because he sort of brought Taker into the WWF. "Money is the root of all evil."
Jake would have made sense as a demonic cult leader.
Brother Love would have made an interesting choice. He was Takers first manager and could have become an evil "fallen religious figure" who used to claim to be all about love and now he preached hate and evil. Very interesting to see them turn him from a comic character to a very scary character.

No one should have been the higher power. The whole story was stupid because it underminded Undertaker's character. It made no sense for such an evil powerful character to be subordinate to anyone.

i went and rewatched the segment when the higher power was revealed, and you're right on the money. can you imagine the crowd reeaction when the hood is pulled back to reveal jake, who then goes on to cut an insamely evil promo, then goes on to feud with austin. It could've been a huge dialectic web that connected every angle in the WWF. Very, very creative.

we should turn this thread into a thread inserting JBL into every possible angle and talking about what would happen Yeah JBL should return to the ring, replace Vickie as GM, Remain Announcer, be revealed as Vince's real bastard son, be revealed as the person behind GTV, and take responsibility for the Save us video That would work on soooo many levels.

You know what may have been the best idea for the higher power? Someone new. A new wrestler, or manager/authority figure type. It was a great platform to imidiatly push a new superstar. Kind of like how Kane made an imidiate impact by debuting in the storyline with the undertaker

I don't mind it being Vince, it just made people hate him 100 times more. The reason most people hated Vince being the higher power wasn't just because it was him...it was because it made no sense from any logical point-of-view. I mean, the Ministry had spent weeks kidnapping Stephanie and screwing with the McMahon family, and we're supposed to believe that Vince allowed and condoned this JUST to get at Austin? That said, I agree with Jake or Dibiase. They both had connections to Austin and Taker, and neither would have been letdowns. I lean toward Dibiase myself.

"Yes, I'm the Higher Power. Do you have a problem with this? Then let me introduce you to my two friends Jack Johnson and Tom O'Leary." I would've marked out. It could've happened. It's science.

Hmmm...I was disappointed because I was hoping for Ted Dibiase and the fact it wasn't him was such a let down for me. I think once I got over the anticlimax of it being Vince, Vince is actually a not bad choice. But man, it could have been a classic moment and instead it was just another good RAW.

Dibiase AND Roberts... dressed as a pantomime horse.
Or in regular clothing, one of the two.

In the Inside Pulse archives, Jed Shaffer did a Re-Writing the Book with Jake as the higher power. It was pretty good. A shame to see what's happened to Roberts, BTW. I always thought he was a good wrestler.

Jake would have been great if he wasn't such a mess. DiBiase and/or Brother Love would have been better choices since they both introduced him to us at Survivor Series 90.

If Russo really wanted to go for the something shocking, Taker and Shane McMahon should have taken the hood off the robed figure to reveal a mirror and point it to the crowd to reveal that the highet power is...
them, the audience.
It would have been the ulitimate swerve.
