I hear everyone bringing up Jake and Dibiase. But wasn't Jake "in no condition to perform" during this time? And isn't Dibiase a born again Christian? Something tells me he wouldn't have been comfortable being involved in a Satanist angle.

I've always wondered if the Owen accident had anything to do with Vince being the higher power. I believe the accouncement came a week or so after. Perhaps whoever was originally planned backed out of being a satonic cult leader with all the negative mainstream press surrounding the WWF at the time.

I am in the school of thought that it was a dumb storyline because Undertaker should have been subordinate to nobody. Realistically, though, we have to imagine someone in the storyline that it would make sense that Undertaker would take orders from and have a good reason for it. That eliminates Jake because even though it would be an interesting angle, there is no reason Undertaker would follow Jake. Vince McMahon is his boss, so it makes sense that he has to obey him. Dibiase might have worked with the almighty dollar being everyones master. Paul Bearer would have been a cheesy end to the storyline but i would have prefered it to Vince and that is who I thought it was at the time.

I'm not usually one to criticize an opinion... but red-X's shouldn't have been the Higher Power.
