Definitely a bigger deal than Hogan. Agree/disagree? I guess Vince going over HBK at WM should have happened to, since he probably drew more money over the years...

When Austin turned face he really did encourage it, though, leaving pauses in his promos for it and everything. When the heels (mostly Kurt Angle and Vince McMahon) started reacting to it and angrily telling the fans to stop saying it, that's when it exploded. Yeah. At that point Austin kinda had to though, because the crowd would start with it even when he didn't pause. Not saying he didn't encourage it though, I mean he did have a freakin t shirt that said What? on it. Just that it wasn't something that was forced on the fans, it happened a lot more organically.

Austin didnt really encourage it. The crowd just picked up on it and started chanting it, even when he was a heel in the Alliance [which is where its origin came from].

Christian still hasn't learned not to go for the Killswitch only a couple minutes into the match after all this time.
If you are facing Kane and its been more than ten seconds since he attacked you, it would definitely be a bad idea to stand up and turn around.
Ditto for sitting up on all fours if you are wrestling Orton.

This sounds like a good idea executed poorly.
IE. showing how WWE being the only game in town has negatively affected wrestling. Do I want to see a 15 minute head scissors? No. I also dont want to watch John Cena talk for 15 minutes either though. Both are equally boring.

Yeah I miss him, I liked him but didn't think much of him in the ring. He was often very sluggish and mostly gave lackluster matches. The Dark Kiss should have always been his finisher, a vampire using a CRUCIFIX powerbomb? C'mon son. In fairness the motion of the move makes the crucifix go upside down. :] Annnnnd crucifying people is all demonic and whatnot.

Not good. No JR this week only made me realize how terrible Todd Grisham really is. Matt Striker tried and failed to cover up for Todd's suckage on Friday. As for the new guy on ECW.......haven't actually seen him. But on a lighter note, here's hoping JR gets well soon. The new ECW guy isn't too bad. He isn't Striker or JBL level good, but he has a good voice and sounded enthusiastic about what was going on. He is better than Grisham at least.

Wes Craven had his name proudly attached to Hills have eyes 2. He has no room to talk on the quality of anything. Thats the whole point. If he will attach his name to a POS like that, not wanting anything to do with this remake is not a good sign. At all.

25 has been mentioned a lot, but it's definitely the most blatant recent example. 24 felt like a big show, with a lot of drama and, if not fresh, at least interesting match ups. 25 just bored me to tears. I agree. The whole thing just felt flat and uninspired. Which is a symptom of WWE these days. Taker vs. HBK was great, but they come from a different era. Nowadays wrestlers are more concerned about camera positions during a match and entrance poses rather than engaging the crowd with great storytelling.

I thought we were supposed to hate the PG movement. Why do we complain when we see something that isn't PG? ITs pretty obvious this thread isn't COMPLAINING. Its pointing out that its illogical to change something like the "FU" but keep "Five Knuckle Shuffle." Its silly to me too. Especially when "FU" could really mean anything, given its context as a wrestling move.

Couldn't stand it. Sheamus is awesome, but they need to take a better approach to getting him over than doing the usual conveyor belt crap where they have a jobber devoid of credibility or reaction get crushed by a monster heel and repeat it until jobbing him out to a main eventer. He's really too good for that. Sheamus actually looks substantially less intimidating to me now that he destroyed Jamie Noble. Why? Because Jamie Noble is one of the smallest guys on the entire roster, and hasn't won a match on TV in ages. Nobody on the roster ever loses to him. Sheamus beat Goldust and he beat Shelton Benjamin, both of whom are higher up in credibility, so why backtrack by having him revert to "Heel steamrolls nobodies" mode? Because its RAW. I called this when it was first announced that he was moved. He will probably be doing this for the next two months, then cut your standard "Where is the real competition" promo, which leads to him feuding with MVP or something. Yawn.

Did they even tap out back then? Not in the WWF. Taz is actually the first wrestler to make an opponent tap out in American pro wrestling. Before that it was all verbal confirmation with the referee, but I assume they switched to tapping once they realized that it was easier for the audience to clearly see the wrestler give up. In the WWF, Shamrock was the guy that started the tradition of forcing the opponent to tap out. Then the tapout was phased in to the regular rules, instead of verbally submitting. By Montreal time the wrestlers in WWF WERE tapping out to submissions. I remember, for instance, off the top of my head at the very Survivor Series in question Ken Shamrock made a couple people tap out in the Elimination Match he participated in, including the Rock. Not sure when it started in WCW exactly but they sorta just adopted it since WWF did if memory serves. The Taz thing is correct though, he was the first wrestler in America to cause tap outs. As far as this thread goes, I am a big Bret fan and I think its no big deal. Anyone still up in arms about Montreal really needs to just let it go.

I agree, and I actually enjoy womens wresting on TNA, in indies, japan, etc.
In WWE though...nope. About the only enjoyment I can ever possibly get out of it is counting the botches per match.
