It's true. I can't suplex Kevin Owens. I'm not a wrestler. Kevin Owens is honestly good enough to where he could probably coach me into doing it correctly, but also I really can't imagine he'd be that eager to take a bump.

Since they got rid of the female battle royal, I would be in favor of this being a 15 man and 15 woman intergender battle royal. If anything at least it shakes up the match and gives it a fresh feel. I'm sure Mattel would probably be unhappy, but I feel like a battle royal is like the least violent match you could do this with, anyway, if you just have to chuck them out. No one even has to throw any strikes if they don't want to.

Time to get worried about Okada. Thank God they’ve prepared themselves by pushing *checks notes* Sanada, Finlay and Tama Tonga. Sanada 100 percent makes sense to push, honestly. I know Gedo has rolled with guys before they were ready several times to help force development under pressure, like Okada and Jay White, but I feel like Finlay isn't really working. Being the worst leader of the Bullet Club isn't a great thing, anyway, but it's worse still when the argument could be made that EVIL has more momentum than he does, and he's been stuck doing the same shtick for like 2 years now. EVIL is arguably a has-been (for now, this could change), but Finlay's currently a never-was, and that's not a good place to be. Tama's been given so many opportunities, and he just isn't compelling as a singles guy. At 41, I understand NJPW's desire to reward loyalty, but if that news bit about WWE supposedly being interested in him is true, let him walk. I simply think he has done everything he can do.

I hope it happens more in 2024, both because I do anyway, and because holy shit am I sick of topics about this.
Not directed at you, nelic, it's just we've had many, many threads about these kinds of things. I get why, with WWE and Impact to varying degrees leaning on the women in a way AEW hasn't managed yet, and that people actually give a shit about AEW, so it's not like with NWA where simply no one gives a shit about how they book their women considerably worse. Like, had Khan shut the f*** up, history would have wound up proving his point for him about how NWA's big women's show they did only happened due to his being charitable, because Corgan sure as hell didn't actually give a damn once he'd put the belt on Kamille.

It was because they were running a shitload of Triple H vs Rock because it was the hottest thing they had, and in doing that, they kept booking bullshit occurring to keep them from having a definitive end to it. Rock gets screwed over at WM2000, Austin interferes on Rock's behalf on Backlash so Triple H has some level of saved face, Undertaker screws up Rock's night on the DQ in a way that makes Undertaker kind of a wild card since he and Rock then have beef and distrust, and then they have McMahon tensions flare again since Vince screwed things up for Triple H. It's wacky, but they were just really not wanting to give Rock or Triple H this slam dunk on one another so they could pull it out of their back pocket at any time. Which never happened, oddly enough. Yeah, it's one of those things. Triple H getting injured and Rock going to Hollywood meant they spent most of 2001 out of each others' orbits, and probably dashed the opportunity for any sort of blow off.

That's a damn good question. Because they kind of address it the night after on Raw and then shortly after Michaels is written off tv. And then we got a low point of a great year, the weird Rock vs Triple H, Vince & Shane match at KOTR where Rock pinned Vince to win the belt back. So what was the point of Triple H winning a contested match the month before? He didn't even lose it, Vince did. And then Rock held the title until the fall. I am okay with it, if only because they are perfectly aware of how online their fanbase is.
It's a crutch in a way, like how Souls games can be downright obtuse because they know fans will collaborate and figure out mechanics, but it's also realistic that communities have changed. Like, even in the first game, Pikachu was supposed to be difficult to know is even IN viridian forest when you first go through it, not to even touch on Mew, so this kind of feels appropriate.

I know he's joking, but it'd be pretty funny if he did really get big into philanthropy post-Curb.

Kevin McCallister also went from child trying to defend his home to chile who knowingly lures two people, criminals sure but people, to a house of torture and attempts to murder them. They were going to steal charity money from sick kids and almost killed him. It's not like they went legit. Yeah, they explicitly make it clear they intend to murder him in the second movie, they do have it coming. Like even with the photographs, they weren't really that much more wanted as fugitives, probably, than they already would have been for breaking out of lockup. They could have just blown him off and escaped. They escalated it by following him to the apartment.

They’re clearly exploiting a loophole in the testing…if they’re even testing anymore since no one has gotten busted in forever. That said all of the 40+ dudes probably have legit prescriptions for TRT at this point. They probably are, but Lance Storm pointed out ages ago that the wellness program is pretty lax on steroid testing. It happens, but there are ways of getting around it. Hell, Maven's video about steroids is probably not even that out of date.

So when are the contracts of FTR up so they can go to WWE and be CM Punks bitches? They just signed long-term deals this year and Bald said it was AEW or nothing. So it's gonna be awhile. This match was intended as a tribute match to Jay Briscoe as it was around the anniversary of his last ever match, so I can see where emotions would be raw and where something like someone being on their phone would come off as disrespectful to Jay's memory. Still not a good look for Dax though.
That's honestly an excellent point. I do think he overreacted, but I also get where it's a frustrating situation to be in.

Ryback nearly taking out Punk and Bryan within a span of like 2 months in 2013 was peak Ahmed performance. It still blows my mind that Ahmed is probably the first guy to hit rolling German suplexes in the WWF/WWE, and how f***ing astonishing it is that anyone would agree to taking that move from him.

I really despise the “they’re young” excuse. When the time comes, the time comes. Also the crowd really did NOT like Billie just going back to being a minion. Whether or not it's an excuse is a matter of debate. What happened to Brock Lesnar when he was given everything possible in like 3 years of being in the WWE? What then happened in part due to them running out of like anything new to do with him? I do think giving it to Billie here would have been good, but I also don't want her to peak early and then have diminishing returns afterwards.

I love Athena, but I'm sort of worried she's going to be in a situation where by the time she loses it, she'll have nothing left to do. I guess they could then move her to AEW proper, but still, ehhhh.

Obviously I want to see more of this in AEW but I hope this puts to bed the weird idea that Tony Khan somehow just doesn't like women and feels forced to book them. Yeah, like if he did not like women's wrestling at all, it'd be apparent and much more like Billy Corgan's "who gives a shit, leave the belt on Kamille for 400 years" booking. He has made many mistakes, but they're not the mistakes of someone who is apathetic.

Wasn’t this promoted as a Fight Without Honor? Or did I make that up? I believe it was. I certainly put it that way in the original post! Yeah, wikipedia has/had it as one, too.

You can tell how expensive Final Countdown is by how rarely Tony pulls it out. Yeah, I believe it is handily the most expensive entrance music, and that's including Born to be Wild, Jane, Where is my Mind, etc.

I wonder if painkillers or extreme pain were the reason why he sounded so distant and out of it during that promo last Wednesday. I don’t think he drinks or gets high so it was all the more strange when I saw it. Edge, Christian, Danielson, HBK they’ve all come back stronger after indefinite multi year breaks and I’m sure this will be the same. Probably pain, like I know for sure he doesn't drink or get high, it's come up quite a bit.

It's probably Three Houses for 2023, though I've been playing a lot of Rune Factory 4 Special lately, and prior, Shredder's Revenge and Octopath Traveler II. On checking properly, Three Houses was more last year, this year it had been Octopath Traveler II, followed by FF7 and then Rune Factory 4 Special.

Horsewomen vs Damage CTRL is an awful idea. Damage CTRL are not on their level. Charlotte or Becky alone can fight off 3 of them without much trouble. Bayley and Sasha are about the same level as Asuka. IYO is weak. Dakota even weaker, and main-roster Kairi is straight up jobber status. They'd have to pull a 'Stone Cold joins the WCW Alliance' and give Damage CTRL Rhea or Bianca to make it an even fight. I feel you are selling Kairi too short, and I would not call Iyo weak, but, I do agree that Dakota isn't really presented right now as a big deal, and in general, I do think Damage CTRL isn't on a level where the match would be what it'd ought to be. Now, if they built Damage CTRL through the course of 2024, then yeah, maybe that match would be a big deal for 2025's 'Mania, and that'd be enough time for Sasha's absence to feel like she'd have been gone long enough to have fresh things to do, but after the War Games match, there'd be basically zero doubt who'd win the match. It would not be compelling.
