t181) 2 pts Velvet JonesActor: Eddie Murphy Character Type: Recurring Show: Saturday Night Live Who was he? Velvet Jones was an ongoing character played by Eddie Murphy on the American sketch comedy Saturday Night Live in its seventh season. Velvet was depicted as a pimp on the program and first appeared on the October 17, 1981 episode (with guests George Kennedy and Miles Davis). What else did he do besides this skit? Subsequent episodes had Jones selling items such as Velvet Jones Harlequin Romance books, which included fictitious odd titles including Kicked in the Butt by Love. Who loves Velvet Jones? Probably Cornfed, he's an Eddie Murphy on SNL mark. Damn straight!

Baggin' Saggin' Barry Actor: Kenan Thompson Character Type: Recurring Show: All That
You trying to throw us off with fake videos now? No. Yet more skits and characters I can't find. So I put the theme song up instead. If anyone can find sketches out there I'm more then happy to edit these entries with them if you send them to me.
So why did they call him Baggin' Saggin' Barry? He was a teenager with enormous pants which contain a wide variety of strange items.

Joe Pesci Actor: Jim Breuer Character Type: Recurring Show: Saturday Night Live
What was he doing? Jim played a version of Joe Pesci based on some of his movies, mainly Goodfellas. He was use some of Pesci's lines and manuarisims from such movies to intimidate guests on his talk show "The Joe Pesci Show".
Who is with him in this clip? That is Colin Quinn playing Robert DeNiro. Also a version of DeNiro based on more of his mafia-movie work.
Pat attention for: The real Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro confronting Jim and Quinn.

Franz Actor: Kevin Nealon Character Type: Recurring Show: Saturday Night Live
Who is he? Franz would team up with his best friend Hans in order to PUMP! *CLAP* YOU UP!
They sound familiar! Well little girlly man, that's because they are spoofs based on the one and only Arnold Schwarzenegger whom makes a cameo in this clip.
Here me now and believe me later was a catchphrase used my Franz often.

Leonard Pinth-Garnell Actor: Dan Akroyd Character type: Recurring Show: Saturday Night Live
Who was he? Leonard Pinth-Garnell was a recurring character played by Dan Aykroyd. Pinth-Garnell, always clad in a tuxedo and black tie, would lugubriously introduce a short performance of "Bad Conceptual Theater," "Bad Playhouse," "Bad Cinema," "Bad Opera," "Bad Ballet," "Bad Red Chinese Ballet," or "Bad Cabaret for Children," and then exult in its sheer awfulness. Aykroyd played the character nine times from 1977 through 1979, and returned for a single appearance on November 3, 2001, introducing "Bad Conceptual Theater." (The show was hosted at least one time by Laraine Newman as Lady Pinth-Garnell.)
Was he based on anyone? Pinth-Garnell was loosely based on the longtime PBS Masterpiece Theatre host Alistair Cooke.

Hint for the upcoming 5 way tie for 167th place: - Has a buddy in the list already - Co-Host of his own local access TV show... not the first or second name that comes to mind though. - Possibly modeled on Robin Williams - This list? He hated it. - Based on a co-host from Discovery Channel

Hans Actor: Dana Carvey Character Type: Recurring Muscle Man! Show: Saturday Night Live
Didn't we see this guy before in the lis? No! You saw his friend, brother, cousin, whatever Franz! Remember, Hans is spelled with an S!
Well, tell me more of what they did. Pumping Up" with Hans and Franz primarily consisted of them denigrating others for not being strong, and then striking bodybuilder poses to show off their "muscled" bodies, complete with strained facial expressions. The two finally received their just deserts when Arnold Schwarzenegger himself made a guest appearance on the sketch (to much applause) and ridiculed "his cousins" for being girlie and weak.
Did you know? A movie was in the works for a short time, entitled "Hans and Franz go to Hollywood," but was scrapped once producers saw poor box office performances from such SNL sketch-inspired movies as Stuart Saves His Family and It's Pat.

t167) 6 points Azrael Abyss Actor: Chris Kattan Character Type: Recurring Goth Talk Show Host Show: Saturday Night Live www.hulu.com/watch/4816/saturday-night-live-goth-talkWho is he? He along with his co-host, Circe Nightshade, hosted Goth Talk, a a late-night Tampa Bay cable access show. The hosts spoke in a melodramatic, woeful tone, and wore dark gothic clothes and black make-up. Azrael spoke in a grating, high-pitched voice and frequently made noises like a cat. What happened on the skit? Recurring themes included Azrael's job at Cinnabon and Jim Breuer's interruptions of the show as Azrael's older brother Glenn, a stereotypical jock attending Michigan State. Glenn would ruin the goth mood by turning on the light in the garage and calling Azrael and Circe by their real names, Todd (Henderson) and Stephanie. Often the dark aspects of their lives were juxtaposed with their surroundings, such as the time they mused that "The Tampa Bay Lightning aren't very goth." The show's sponsor was a clothing store called "The Gloom Room," which had a slogan that went, "It's an orgy of the macabre... located right next to the Pizza Hut on Hibiscus Road."

Kedzie Matthews Actor: Tom Kenny Character Type: One-Shot Stand Up Comic Show: Mr. Show
Yet Another one... ... that I can't find a video for, or even a picture. Any help would appreciated.
Who was he? Kedzie Matthews is a zany and immensely popular stand-up comedian who temporarily replaced Bob during the opening sequence of episode 307 "Bush is a Pussy". His appearance and comic style is a parody of mediocre stand-up comedians from the 1980's, and possibly modeled on Robin Williams based on his clothing and delivery. Kenny performs as Matthews in several of the show's DVD audio commentaries.

There are... episodes of this show on You Tube, but I don't know which one has this character. Any fans care to point me in the right direction and I'll be happy to edit it into this post to share it with everyone.
Not much to say... about this character. Based on the former co-host of Discovery Channel's show Daily Planet. The character was played by Gavin Crawford in drag.
The real person... was a television reporter, known in Canada for the television show Daily Planet, on Discovery Channel Canada and in Northern and Central Scotland for her reporting role on STV's The Five Thirty Show.

Antoine Merriweather Actor: David Alan Grier Character Type: Flamboyant Recurring Critic Show: In Living Color
What skit was he from? Men on Film was a parody of Siskel & Ebert. A pair of extremely effeminate gay men, Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather, review films completely based on their potential for homoerotic content. Variations of this sketch include Men on Television, Men on Fitness, Men on Vacation, Men on Art, Men on Football and Men on Men.
What does Antoine think of his low placement on this list? HATED IT!
Why would he say that? It was the source of many popular catchphrases such as, "Hated It!", "Fish!", "My second favorite form of liquid protein", "Three words - fa - bu - lous!" and "the yet unheard of Zorro snap, in Z formation!"
