I wasn't fond of Vampire Weekend at all. I tried to get into them but they just did nothing for me whatsoever.
And The Spill Canvas' last record was technically from 07, though it had another release last year. Great album though.

VW is definitely something that is an acquired taste. I had no idea they put out the Spill Canvas record twice. I haven't really kept contact with Nick and he was how I found out what was going on with the band, dude got busy though.

#2) The Killers - Day & Age God this album is just so amazing. I think the first time I listened to it, it didn't quite click with me, but every subsequent listen was just awesome. It's not QUITE as good as Sam's Town for me, but it's definitely right up there with it. Hot Fuss is my least favourite, but it's still good too. Seriously though, this album is just awesome. I was definitely glad to hear they didn't abandon that "big" sound they had with ST. I dunno what it is about them...it's tough to describe, but they just sound big and epic these days. It's a great direction from their post-punk revival stuff of Hot Fuss, which was good, but only could've gone so far really. And I just hate it when bands make the same album over and over again. And yeah, this album definitely isn't the same as ST. It's got more synth elements going on, and some different songwriting aspects I can't quite put my finger on. I wasn't really surprised by the album, I figured I'd love it...and I was definitely right. It was amazing.

It hasn't clicked with me yet. Something really feels like it is missing.

I've actually heard that from someone else. I felt that way about a few albums this year that made honourable mentions...but Day & Age definitely just felt right for me.

Yeah, I know that feeling really well.
That's currently how I am with U2's new album. I can tell it's good, and I wanna love it, but it just runs together and does nothing for me.
Of course I feel that way about all of U2's albums. I think they work a lot better when I just listen to one song at a time.

With U2 I think they work better no songs ever, but that is me. But I know what you mean, there are a lot of bands I feel that way about. Can't listen to a full album, but a song here or there, or a mix tape, they are perfect.

Have to say I wasn't very big on The Killers and PATD new albums. The Killers in particular was a real dissapointment, their worst album so far. Glad you liked it Dude but couldn't get into it at all.
O and Vampire Weekend must be one of the most overrated bands on the planet, can't stand them at all.

Eh, different strokes for different folks, my friend. I still feel Hot Fuss is their worst album. It is by no means bad, it's just my least favourite. I'm not worried if you didn't enjoy it . We all gots our own tastes and whatnot.

Well Sam's Town is in my top 5 albums of the decade for sure so for them to go from that to this album is sad. Just hope they come good on the next one.

Yeah for your sake I hope so And yeah, Sam's Town was just...there was something about that album that was just absolutely incredible. I do agree that Day & Age isn't as good, but I still found it spectacular.

I'll get in on the conversation just to mix things up. Sam's Town is actually my least favorite of their albums. I like it and think it is really good. I just wasn't feeling it as much for some reason. I've liked all of their albums but Sam's Town just didn't appeal to me as much.

YOU'RE A TERRIBLE PERSON HOW DARE YOU.
No really though, my friend Evyn feels that way too. He's biggest on Hot Fuss. Not that weird, I can see how it wouldn't appeal to someone.

Like I said,I really like the album. Just not my favorite. It's still better than 50-60% of the stuff being released this decade though.

I'm not feeling Chinese Democracy is going to make it into the number one slot, so I'd like to read your opinion on the long awaited album. In my opinion, it seemed more like the Axl Rose variety hour, featuring what's left of G N'R. The vocals were way too loud.

In my opinion, it seemed more like the Axl Rose variety hour, featuring what's left of G N'R. The vocals were way too loud. I thought it was pretty interesting. Not on the level of their old stuff, but it's not really the same band so it's tough to compare. I enjoyed it though. It was really quite good. Just not good enough for my top 20 . SPEAKING OF... #1) Amanda Palmer - Who Killed Amanda Palmer? Yes. Yes. Yes. Everything about this album is just so f***ing amazing. Just...no, really. It's spectacular. One of the greatest albums of the 00's, not just of 08. The songwriting is top notch, the lyrics are great, production is superb, the songs are meaningful and poignant and they can be funny...and it's everything I've come to expect from Amanda and much more. It really solidified her as one of my musical idols. She's a genius. And just amazing in every way. I can't say it enough. I mean, the album has a surf-rock song about abortion. There is no way that is not awesome. Most of the album describes ways I've felt in my life no other artist ever has. Her work with the Dresden Dolls did that too. Seriously...I may be repeating myself, but you owe it to yourself and the world to hear this album. I feel everyone should hear it at least once. It's that f***ing good. Just beautiful.
