The way the poster described it didn't make it sound like he was trying to be friendly or joke around. Then you took it completely differently than I did, and that's fine. I didn't read that he meant it as an insult at all, it sounds far more like a playful joke about strategy guides. But even if you took it differently, that's still not an insult at an employee the way being snarking at a customer for their gaming habits is an insult at the customer.

whenever I've shopped at Gamestop, I've just said "no thank you" when asked to Preorder/buy a strategy guide.

That doesn't make it any better. Rude is rude, disrespectful is disrespectful. You can be insulting towards someone without personally attacking them.

A joke is, in itself, not rude or disrespectful unless the content itself makes it such, and what he said wasn't. Those labels are contingent upon the tone, context and intent it's made in. As I read it, I didn't see it as a malicious statement, I saw it as a lighthearted comment, and that's not being insulting. If his tone was condescending to the employee, then that'd be something else, but I didn't see it that way.

I have. At my jobs, I've been bitched at, insulted, berated, lectured, accused of being a thief, accused of being a racist, called a liar, and pretty much everything short of being physically assaulted. Gamestop doesn't have the market cornered for having mistreated employees, not by a long shot. I'm still not going to condone a coworker insulting someone and management responding by refusing to serve the customer if they respond in kind. The employee gets no sympathy from me. If she was really just being nice and the guy was snarky, fine, he's the asshole, but you can't fire first then complain that someone fires back. But he was snarky first, with his "whatever I've got the internet for that" attitude instead of just politely declining the offer. So it sounds like he's the one who "fired first and then complained when someone fires back". How is basically saying "I don't need a strategy guide. I have the internet for that" being rude or snarky exactly? It wasn't a personal insult towards that particular employee. It wasn't an insult towards ANYONE. What that employee did was NOT "firing back" and even if it was, a customer saying they don't want a strategy guide because you can use gamefaqs is a pretty petty reason anyway.

When I worked at a cleaners, people didn't take a dump on the floor, so I guess I'm lucky there. They took the dump on their clothes and brought them in, yeah, but it wasn't on my floor.

I actually had people dump on the floor a few times in my old job. .... what kind of job was that? Cinema Manager. And it wasn't always a case of people missing the seat. People actually took a dump in the Auditoriums and on one occasion, a fire escape.

Cinema Manager. And it wasn't always a case of people missing the seat. People actually took a dump in the Auditoriums and on one occasion, a fire escape. ......... Someone managed to break in through one of the external fire exit doors. Unfortunately for them, they got up the stairs and the next set of exit doors were closed firmly. So they left us a nice present at the top of the stairs. Which I cleaned up with a hot dog tray. I then walked across the lobby with it (I was taking it to the toilet) and asked if anyone had a hot dog bun.

Oh my god, if I got started in here, I'd get mad lol.
I've had SO many terrible experiences at Gamestop, mostly with the workers being complete asshats. Lately, however, it's been better, and I've had more pleasant times.
In particular... I sold them the Nights sequel on Wii. I had bought it from Target for pretty cheap and played it that night for about 3 hours. It was not nearly as good as the Saturn original and was a huge disappointment, so I took it in to Gamestop to get some used credit. "Wow, I'm impressed," the clerk said. I said "What?".
"This game is in impeccable condition."
I said " Yeah, I only played it for a few hours, and it sucks."
He responds with "How do you know if it sucks if you only played it for 3 hours?"
Seriously? Just take my f***ing game, you nerd. You play it for 3 hours and tell me it doesn't suck ass.

That's what I do,even to the condescending douche bag that work at my local Gamestop;I see no point in being a smartass to them, unless I know them, which I don't.,I will talk games with them(hell, one talked Fire Pro with me while he checked me out,how cool is that )

The only problems I've had with Gamestop were really small things. One time, back when they were still selling PS1 games I bought Final Fantasy 8 used and it froze at a certain part on me. So, I took it back and they didn't have any other copies, and they gave me money back instead. No biggie.
The only other thing that happened was when I bought Kingdom Hearts 2, they gave me Kingdom Hearts 1 instead. I noticed it as soon as I got home. I took it right back (I only live about 5 minutes from it), they realized their mistake and gave me Kingdom Hearts 2 with no problems.
Aside from the fact that they only charge $5 off of new price for used games that are already out (which is understandable since they're trying to make a profit), and the fact that they only give you a little bit for store credit (which again I can understand because they're a business) I have have had no problems with Gamestop.
