I agree with most that the GTA games and FFVII are overrated, but for different reasons than most. I have never been able to really get into the GTA games due to their terrible controls. They were bad on GTA3, they were still bad on Vice City and they were still bad on San Andreas. I cannot play a game where my biggest obstacles are the controls. That's interesting, I don't think I've ever heard somebody say the controls in the GTA games are bad. They seem pretty natural to me. Even my younger sister used to sneak into my room and play Vice City when she was around the age of 6, though she mostly just crashed into s***. Then again, I thought that Max Payne had unbearably bad controls and couldn't make it past the second level. Also thought the same about the original Metal Gear Solid, and Manhunt. So I can totally understand how it feels to just be retarded when it comes to playing a game that nobody else has problems with lol.

I was a huge RPG fan when FFVII came out. I already had a PS at the time (Twisted Metal is what sold the system for me) and I was excited beyond belief for when it came out. I played my way through it without stopping. When I was done, I never felt the need to play it again. There was no part of the game that I felt was worth a second play. That is why I feel it is overrated. I found the side quests to be drab. I absolutely hated the Chobo racing. I didn't find the materia system to be interesting. The characters weren't diverse enough to warrant wanting to change your party throughout the game. It was just a slightly above average RPG to me. I understand some people love it and that is great. I just don't think it is that great. I think the lack of diversity and the materia system go hand in hand. You could set up any character to play any role in the game, and the only practical difference between them would be their limit breaks. All the characters were completely customizable, and that made almost all of them useless. That's the same thing that made 8's and 12's characters a lot less meaningful. You simply never have to use more than 3 or 4 of them. I preferred the customisation meself. Meant I could go with any character to any battle and have a good time with battling it out. In FF9, I had sometimes had to drag round Eiko, a character that annoyed the Hell out of me and was almost useless simply to get a half decent cure spell.

They are not responsive might be a better way to put it. I felt I failed most of the missions due to not being able to aim at who I want or drive how I should. I would compare the controls to driving an Oldsmobile. It is like driving a stick of butter.

I've never had a problem with the controls either, though my experience is limited to Vice City and San Andreas. They're far more responsive than most, and I've had both Vice City on PS2 and PC at one time or other. To each their own. And with decent Oldsmobiles, they're hardly a stick of butter, but you're not looking for turning speed, just balls to the wall displacement (Knows a guy with a cherry '71 442)

I don't see how FF7 bashing being more commonplace on the internet means the game is suddenly no longer popular enough to be considered "overrated." That's just a rather loud minority. There's a silent majority out there that still adores the game as one of the best games ever made. It's also one the RPG that more or less launched the modern era of JRPG's. The sales of FF7, as well as anything FF7-related prove that. I'm one of that loud minority who does think FF7 is overrated. Mind you I still liked the game, I just don't think it's one of the greatest ever made, nor is it my favorite in the series. I prefer VI, IV, V, and X over it.

To me, in those games, it just meant that I was going to always have the guys with the best limits as my main party, ignoring most of the rest of them because there just wasn't a point to bringing them along. That said, I loved the way FFX did it. I don't know why it took so long to decide to let players switch in battle, but it was the best of both worlds.

As much as I loved Vice city I agree that the combat system was flawed, it was often hard to lock onto the right target so you’d shoot a harmless of old granny instead of the guy emptying his gun into you.
I wouldn’t call it overrated but despite trying several times I’ve never been able to get into the Metroid series. The only one I did like was Fusion which doesn’t seem that popular amongst Metroid fans.

Only character out of the bunch I actually liked out of that lot was Steiner and I tolerated Vivi. Zidane was just a complete arse.

I have a "friend".. I use that term loosely, that is like the stereotypical WoW addict. Close to 40, lives w/ his mom, terrible hygiene, and plays WoW all day... despite the fact that he seemingly hates it.. he constantly rages about changes to the game, and how Blizzard favors the Horde etc. When hos brother asked him why he still plays, even though the game makes him so mad he said "I've put so much time into these characters, I don't want it to be for nothing" Basically he plays all day long, out of some sense of responsibility to play it, as opposed to for fun. I'll say this....as a longtime hordie for many years (Dire Maul release up to Wrath Mostly...aside from a sabattical to deal with the Belf Infestation) Anyone that claims that Blizz "favors" Horde hasn't been paying attention. If they did (A)The Barrens would have been split earlier/there would be an alternate route in the world. (B) There'd be at least 1 Ally City where you can DIE simply due to lag (The elevators in UC and TB) and the ONE dungeon that was Faction specific for so long would have had better loot. Blizz is just making up for some bad decisions early on with the horde now....it's about even over all. I do like one argument people use is that after Cata, in the Goblin area, there is now literally a horde insignia carved into the world map lol

I never thought of any games as overrated really. Growing up with a twin brother always had us gunning for two player games that made us competitive. That's why I loved MK 2, cause it would be my Sub-Zero vs his Mileena, and we would duke it out for hours.
haha well FF7 was pretty good too. If I can put an overrated game, it would be Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Never really liked it, and I was more of a fan of the CPS-1 music. I remember when they would hold SSFII Turbo tournaments at a local arcade in Van Nuys years ago, and there would be many playing, I would be telling myself that it's basically SSF II with supers. It doesn't even feel fast enough when compared to SF II Turbo. But that's just me.
Oh and Sonic 2 is the best of the Sonic series. The music was very memorable, and to me, the only stage music from the series I pick over Sonic 2 is the Doomsday Zone stage from Sonic & Knuckles...with Death Egg Zone act II when you fight the boss as a close second.

Oh I might get lynched for this, but I would also say Chrono Trigger. I just felt that without Akira Toriyamas art and everything, It probably would not have deserved all the hoopla. What do I know though, I still played it anyway.
I would pick Xenogears, and Suikoden I & V over any of the Final Fantasy games with the exception of VII (which was just ehhh for me, but the first PSX game I beat RPG wise), X, and maybe XIII.

Modern Warfare 2,
It's one of the worst in the series... It really isn't all good like people say it is, I would prefer Black Ops any day.

But I'm with you bro. I only played MW 2 cause all my friends were playing it and no one wanted to play NBA 2K9 or NBA 2K10. The bastards! Then after just a week, I stopped playing MW 2. I only actually Prestiged twice in the game cause 2 of my friends would just play the hell out of it when they would come over to my place.

MW2 on the other hand, playing it online it truly feels like it was developed out of malice. Like they wanted to go out of their way to make the most spiteful, irritating online experience available. It's just grossly imbalanced.

I initially played it (and was a huge FF fan at the time) and just couldn't get into it... but thought it was a decent game. The fanboys pushed me to hatred for it. I think my problem w. the massive faboys is that you can tell for many, it was their first RPG, so it gets this god status because of it. That and they just can't be ok with someone not liking it. Never in gaming have I encountered fans that just seem to wanna fillibuster for their game until you give up before you dick punch them. Seriously, try telling a FF fanboy in casual conversation you didn't like it much... you have to defend why, point by point... it's frustrating.

GTA IV was depressingly bad. I have never been so disappointed in my life with a game. Too realistic and too dull.
I didn't enjoy either Halo 3 or Halo:Reach. Both games just came across as ordinary FPS games to me. The genre in general gets dull after a while.

There's a lot more of us sane ones than you think.

Oh, I know...it's just the loudest ones lol Honestly, there are so many amazing games out there... declaring ONE as your favorite ever, and the end all, be all of gaming is kinda crazy to me. Like...I love Zelda... and OOT IS probably my fav in the series, but fanboys for that will crap on every Zelda, and right away just say "It won't be as good as OOT" before ever playing it.
