Punk in his shoot from 2004 I think, talked about not being a fan of Vince Russo's writing style, so if he was to leave, I would doubt he'd be in TNA. But, The Sandman said he hated Jeff Jarrett and would never work for TNA again, and low and behold.

Punk leaving in the near future would be a surprise... but at the same time, if he's been smart with his money, he could've made enough by now that he could afford to step back from WWE's schedule and pursue other interests. If he leaves on his own terms while still relatively young and injury-free, good for him. There's a huge difference between having a lot of money and having a lot of income. No matter how much you have, when you start spending it, it's gone. Income keeps coming if you stay employed. And no matter what they make, people tend to live at or around the level of lifestyle supported by their income. People who make a million a year rarely live in houses with $1,000 mortgages, drive used cars, etc. Walking away from WWE main-event level money is a huge step for anyone, because they aren't going to bring in that kind of income in the indies or on TNA. Doesn't mean it can't be done or nobody would do it, but that's a major life decision.

Punk is healthy, has charisma and work ethic and still somewhat young I think they should try hard re-sign him.

PWInsider.com is reporting that CM Punk has been telling those close to him that he might not sign a new deal with WWE when his current one expires later this year because he is burnt out from being on the road for virtually 5 years straight without a break. We hope to have more information on this situation soon. -gerweck.net Can't say I blame him for wanting a break, but still.

It would be hard to replace Punk. Maybe they'll let him take a break and let him come back afterwards.

Why would Punk not re-sign? WWE is the only show in town. He's what - 32? Has no nagging injuries that I know of and is in good shape with a solid push. Why would he want to kill his own career?
Edit: If Punk is burnt out, surely the WWE will agree to let him have time off - perhaps they could do an injury angle or something - and give him a few months off. I know Vince is always reluctant to do this but if it lengthens Punk's career and makes him happier he'll work better, and surely then he'll draw more money.

Edge's forced retirement is probably making a lot of the guys look themselves in the mirror. Punk may want to get out before he has any nagging injuries that'll be with him for the rest of his life.

As long as he has saved up enough money to live the livelihood that he has been for the past five years, I see nothing wrong with CM Punk taking a year or two off. His presence will be missed, but he could revitalize his career again upon his return.

I've said it many times, but the guy is in Jericho territory where he can be used to get ANYONE over in an instant, and regain his heat within 20 seconds. Other then Cena and Rey, I'd say he's the most valuable full time guy they have because he can be used to make anyone a star.

I'd put big money on Punk re-signing. Rey Rey...possibly, depends on how he feels physically. He could do a Jericho and take a break for a while.

I consider Punk a lifer. He gave up a lot for the chance at WWE. Even took a pay cut for development. They have been very good to him. There isn't a company on earth more suited for Punk.

Rey spent more time killing the rumor of him leaving more than President Obama spends on telling people he's was born in Hawaii. He's staying as long as his body can hold out. May not be much longer though.
CM Punk is using playing the political game to get treated like a marquee player and the perks that come with it. I don't blame him. Punk knows WWE needs him and what to see how much they are willing to give up for him. He is one of their most reliable people and WWE already lost too many proven talent within the last 2 years. WWE will make a sweetheart deal that will be too good to pass up on.

How many times does Mysterio have to deny the news before people stop reporting that he's leaving WWE soon? If they report it enough times, eventually they'll be right.

I can see Punk leaving.
There's not much more for him to do in the WWE, currently. He's won the important titles, he's headlined PPVs, and he's faced almost everyone. If he leaves for a few years, then comes back, there'll be fresh challenges.

Could do a Jericho type thing where he leaves for a bit then returns after some time off. Or he can just become a commentator instead which I think is ideally where he belongs after his wrestling career is through.

If you follow Punk on Twitter I don't think him wanting to go is that surprising. He drops little hints (his "I want wrestling" post talking about how the mat used to be stained with blood; now its with fake tan, plus other little vague hints). Punk seems to be more driven by passion for the sport rather than success or money, and he doesn't seem to want to be rich for years to come. I bet he's made enough to live comfortably for a few years and due to how famous WWE has made him, Punk is in perfect position and perfect age to work anywhere in the world he pleases for however much money he wants. Punk is in an extremely unique situation in which he is enough of a "WWE guy" to get booked anywhere, but not enough of one to have undying loyalty to the company. I could see Punk giving a HUGE boost to the indies and drawing a lot of attention to a smaller company.
My guess is he'll do 2-3 years elsewhere before being brought back. He has a job whenever he wants it and he can come back whenever.

Punk's career has pretty much mirrored Jericho's so far, so it wouldn't surprise me if he vanished for 2+ years, much like Jericho did.

A Punk vs Joe feud would be interesting, but I could see TNA not signing Punk due to his "WWE Reject" status. Ken Anderson, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Mickie James, and almost all of TNA's roster disagree with you and want to know what you are smoking.
