Punk isn't going anywhere. Unless it is just to heal up some injuries and take some time off like Jericho I don't see him leaving.
If he really wanted to take a good few months to a year off they would just put him on commentary or something.

I really doubt Punk would go back to the Indies.
He makes more money (might not be a lot more, but still more) and if he's burnt out, traveling like he'd have to on the indies to be able to make as much money as he is in the E would be painful for him.

I can see Punk leaving. There's not much more for him to do in the WWE, currently. He's won the important titles, he's headlined PPVs, and he's faced almost everyone. If he leaves for a few years, then comes back, there'll be fresh challenges. There's plenty for him to do. He's never won the WWE title, which is the REAL world title. He's never had a big time babyface run, which I know he's got in him. He's never been booked strong, and thats what I'd love to see.

Wait, if Punk leaves, doesn't that mean he loses the rights to the CM Punk name? No, he has the same clause RVD has

A Punk vs Joe feud would be interesting, but I could see TNA not signing Punk due to his "WWE Reject" status. Really? Have you seen TNA roster? Plus he would not be a reject if he chooses to not sign. The only time your a reject if they release you without the talent asking for it. Plus he was in TNA before he was in the WWE. So he be more of a return.

I think Punk is on the low-end of the totem pole salary-wise and that's where this newz is aiming. If you had access to the salary roster, it's probably one of those "Woah, he only makes X" things.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if outside of the big 5-6 guys on the roster, that alot of these guys get nickel'd and dime'd.

I don't really care if Rey resigns or not, he has honestly done everything there is to do and he is really beat up. He probably should retire. As far as Punk goes, if he doesn't resign I am betting it is to take a break and do things outside of wrestling like Jericho. I seriously doubt Punk would leave to go back to the indies and even less likely to see him in TNA, especially since they are an obvious sinking ship at this point. Unless Punk wants to be a Chicago based promoter and start his own company, which would be awesome.
I believe that either Punk is seriously burnt out and wants a break before he resigns or he is just playing for more money, which he probably deserves.

Punk won't leave. He's in the middle of a main-event push for god's sake. Besides, he hates TNA. That wouldn't leave any options except for going back down to the indies, which would just be absurd.

I wouldn't really call that a main event push. It's more like Orton came down to his level. His best push in the last year or so was the announcing gig, it got him over like mad.
Then of course they didn't do anything with it.

I am sure that WWE will offer Punk a better contract soon enough. They have put too much effort in building him up as a top level heel to let him go and from what I hear he has way too much fun being there. Plus he is pretty much guaranteed to not f*** up due to any drug-related issues. Both parties know his value and it will end in Punk getting a better pay.

His downside guarantee is probably significantly less than the Orton and Mysterio side of things, but between his cut from shows based on his place in the roster and merchandise cuts I bet he does pretty well. And even if he didn't 5 years in the WWE is still significantly more than what he was getting in the indies.

If Mysterio leaves I won't be terribly shocked due to all the rumors he's unhappy the last few years. And he's kinda broken down. He could make similar money for FAR fewer dates in Mexico than with WWE.
As for CM Punk....wow. I can't believe he wouldn't resign. What'd they do to piss him off?

I either see Punk using this as a negotiation tactic or going the Jericho route and take a year off from wrestling entirely. I don't think he'll be showing up in TNA any time soon.

Punk's situation is more that he wants to take a break, which is fine with me.

I'm not sure that pays that well in the WWE's pay structure. I'm like a broken record, but it's like when the leaked salary list came out, and Eddie (this was after his ME push and then heel turn) was making like $350K or something like that. Not something to sneeze at, but you'd think he'd be making more. And that was before operations got more streamlined and profit driven. I think if a list came out again, it would be shocking, the disparity between the top guys and everyone else, save for a mechandise mover here and there.

I can see Punk being frustrated and burnt out easily. A lot of his friends have been churned through the company and shuttered out because creative doesn't have anything for them, he's seemingly picking up a new injury every few months, and he keeps ping ponged between go nowhere feuds that WWE refuse to capitalize on.
On the other hand he is basically allowed to cut the promo he wants every time he gets a microphone, has merchandise that sells like hot cakes, and is on each and every PPV (which gets you a sizeable chunk of change just for being on it) in a mid-card or higher match that is generally regarded as a good to great match.
He said on the Art of Wrestling interview that he did with Cabana that at times he knows creative just doesn't know what to do with him because they don't 'understand' him or his gimmick that well. That can be frustrating, and when combined with everything else I can see him wanting to take some time off and just let his body (and mind) recharge. Plus I think he's loyal enough to the WWE that when he returned it would be treated like a big deal because the WWE KNOWS that if nothing else Punk can retain his heat like nobodies business.

Punk should just go away for a year or two and come back.. That way hes stays fresh character wise.. I don't think WWE knows what to do with his character really. Much like Raven.. They just have no clue what to do with that type of "Cult" character.
They don't know what the hell to do with him anyway, and I don't blame him one bit for what they have done to him creative wise.
