It's pretty sad that I believe this is simply another way for Cena to overcome the odds...but the fan in me still has a sliver of hope that either Punk will walk out of Chicago with the title, or we will see a surprise MITB cash in.
Next week should further develop the angle. I hope they really leave us guessing!

Heres a what if, what if John Cena, CM Punk end up gone after MITB and at summerslam we have something similar to how the NWO formed at Bash at the Beach 1996
2 weeks after MITB Colt Cabana shows up on raw proclaiming that"we are here and were taking over the next week CM Punk returns and says"Vince, we will take out everybody in the back until the company is ours" after the break, show R-Truth, Rey Misterio, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Miz, and Alberto Del Rio layed out with a shadow of someone standing over them with CM Punk and Colt Cabana with baseball bats looking on with approval at the mysterious figure
Meanwhile back in the ring Randy Orton is asking for help against this hostile takeover and the people not carried out on stretchers come to the ring in solidarity including the whole smackdown roster and the Raw GM chimes in and proclaims"There is an outside force trying to take over the company, but that is never going to happen, because me and Teddy long have made a team up to take on these idiots. It will be Colt Cabana, CM Punk and their mystery partner vs Randy Orton, R-Truth and Rey Mysterio, we cant let the enemy win or that force is going to belong to them"
At summerslam CM Punk and Colt Cabana can be heard behind closed doors, and a third voice can be heard, but the interviewer cant really tell who it is, but the voice sounded familiar to him, like he knew him in some way
Main event Randy Orton gets the advantage on CM Punk, Punk tags in Colt, Randy tags in Rey, Rey then proceeds to beat the living crap out of Colt then Rey tags R-Truth who then proceeds to continue to beat up Colt R-Truth goes for the pin and CM Punk stops the pin, but on the outside Rey attacks Punk and temporarily incapacitates him while Randy gears up for the punt, but accidently punts R-Truth out of the match
End of the match: Colt has Randy down for the count and Punk has disposed of Rey meanwhile Cue John Cenas music, John Cena rushes to the ring as people are thinking that hes there to take R-Truth's spot when all of the sudden Cena gives the AA to Randy and they win the match and dispose of the ref while Jerry Lawler climbs into the ring to interview Cena and this is how the promo goes"Vince just couldn't let go of his big ego, and you people just eat out of the palm of his hand, these two guys are professional wrestling and in Punks case, you just s*** all over him and make him look like a joke, but now the jokes on you, and I have something to say about the fans, you can kiss my ass"
I would love a ROH hostile takeover angle, but this is not likely to happen
The scenerio that most likely to happen is Punk wins and Del Rio cashes in and wins the title

Punk has to win. How could they miss out on that pop? Chicago would blow the f***ing roof off if he beats Cena. The fired angle seems like it's in place to give Cena some time off. Why else would they do another fired angle with him only a year later than the one with Barrett?
The best thing they could do imo is turn/ keep Punk face and have him feud with Vince and a new corporate champ. Probably Del Rio. The surprise Cena return is always good for a big pop. The anonymous gm could reinstate him down the road.
Or Mcmahon could finally get sick of his guys not beating Punk and he's forced to get Cena back to do it.

At this, I know much of the wrestling audience isn't to be tested, trusted or anything.
But really? Firing Cena again? Are there people who won't remember that?

Sheesh, you guys.
Cena wins. McMahon's speech tonight completely and totally sets up a Cena/Vince feud. Punk doesn't even directly have anything to do with the way this is going.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Cena won, and then McMahon, in frustration, gets the MitB winner to come out, only to ALSO fail to get the title (maybe by Cena getting intentionally disqualified, or some other heel-except-it's-the-top-face thing).
In fact, this is what I'm calling. Look for Truth... or maybe Swagger... to win MitB, only to be the first to come up short in cashing it in.

Who confirmed that Punk is actually planning on leaving? His promo about leaving could be part of an angle too.

I honestly think Punk is winning, and that he's going to become Corporate Rock 2.0.

Not that it will happen... but imagine THIS.....
Cena needs time off since he's hurting.... so Punk beats Cena.... walks off with the WWE Title....
Let's say Alex Riley wins MITB
Punk goes to random ROH show.....Punk talks his crap... maybe even works a match with WWE Title in hand....after match Riley ....on ROH show... cashes in and "brings the title back home"
wanna talk about an instant star is made?? Hot damn.....
will never happen though, but it would be amazing.....

Why would ROH allow Riley to cash in another fed's contract at their show?
One thing I'm sure of in this angle is aside from a mention or two, ROH isn't going to be involved.

Here's the thought I have. Hunter is behind this all. This is his 316...All you Hulkamaniacs can stick it... moment. He was there when Punk outpopped everyone at SS... and he knows Punk is the guy that can make him a credible booker in the long run.
Now.. the "summer of Punk" will not be copied word for word. Let's acknowledge that now and get it out of the way. He'll win the title and "negotiate" an open deal that let's him do what he wants. This will be WWE's way of incorporating non-WWE talent into the fold. Let them bring NJPW, ROH, NOAH, etc. guys as legitimate contenders and then have their champ go over. Hunter is a NWA guy at heart. I really really believe and hope that he will do this. An acknowledgment that other promotions matter. Pay off the other promotions to do a to the limit loss to their champ to legitimize them... and build prestige to a champion.
Hunter is a very straightforward angle guy from his own feuds. You don't like me.. I don't like you. I hope this comes through on this... and gives a kick in the ass to an artform that I've been a big believer in since I saw the Giant nail Hogan with a chair on Nitro when I was a much younger person. I can suspend disbelief.. but I will not do so unless you give something I want to believe in.

Money in the Bank PPV: Punk beats Cena Alberto Del Rio uses the MITB briefcase Punk walks out for a count out to end the show.
July 18th Raw Vince Fires Cena to start the show and buts gets a Call from the GM to end the show telling him he has a solution to the WWE Title situation and Vince tells us to tune in next week for the news.
July 25th Raw Vince announces that the GM reminded him that Punk is still obligated to the WWE due to his Championship clause and as long as he wants to hold the title and collect his merchandise money he must defend the title in a WWE ring within the mandatory 30 days or he will be striped of the title.
Vince then goes on to announce Alberto Del Rio as the #1 contender and it will be at SummerSlam, Vince then tells Punk over the air that he expects to see him at Raw next week in Indianapolis to make it official.
August 1st Raw Punk shows up and says he isn't scared of any man that Vince puts in front of him and its on at SummerSlam, he then points out he finds it ironic it took him leaving with his belt to force Vince to give him the main event spot he deserves and that he will be more than glad to take Vince's main even payoff but he's going to walkout of SummerSlam still with the gold.
Punk then shoots on Vince and his family again and Vince gets mad and slaps him, Punk then acts like he's about to kick Vince's as when Alberto Del Rio makes the save. Punk escapes into the crowd and Vince bails up the ramp.
At the top of the ramp as the show is coming to a end Vince said Punk has forced his hand and that he had to do something he didn't want to do but had to ensure that his Punk didn't walk out of LA with his championship and announces he hired back John Cena and made it a Three-Way elimination match for SummerSlam as the show ends with the Kids cheering while Del Rio and Punk are dejected.
August 8th Raw Cena returns and does his thing when Alberto Del Rio confronts him. He tells Cena even though he's in the match at SummerSlam now that its still his destiny to become WWE champion but he already knew that.
Cena tells Alberto that his destiny is he's about to get his ass kicked right now when the GM chimes and said to cool things down and save that for Sunday but since they wanted to get physical that he put them in a tag team match for the main even with Punks boys Otunga and McGillicutty.
Punk shows up in the match and destroys both men and Nexus then cuts another shoot promo to end the show.
August 14th SummerSlam PPV Fall #1 Cena beats Punk Fall #2 Del Rio beats Cena as he celebrates beating Punk
Basic Fallout: Punk takes some time off only to comeback later to wrestle SCSA at Maina Cena chases Del Rio for a while and later wins belt back in time to face Rock Del Rio wins Royal Rumble and faces Orton at Maina

***I really hope I'm wrong***
There is NO way Punk is leaving with WWE title at Money in the Bank. NO way.
***I really hope I'm wrong***
This is yet another ego-boosting gimmick on the part of the bookers and writers and Vince himself that he can STILL work these marks (myself included, not trying to get on a soapbox) and get people talking and hyped for "something possible" that is absolutely in no way possible.
I just think Vince and the gang are laughing all the way to the bank on this one (pun intended where appropriate).
***I really hope I'm wrong ***
Like I've said three times, I hope I'm wrong. But hope is the lie of the business. You never give fans want they want. In the end, they'll still be fans. I've fallen for it my whole life.

Punk controls most of the match, Vince runs down to ringside. Cena gets Punk on the ground, locks in the STF. Vince yells to "ring the damn bell". And Cena embraces Vince, turning heel.
CM Punk comes back at Summerslam, costs Cena the title. It's revealed that the RAW GM is Mick Foley and he's re-hired Punk.
Punk goes after Cena and McMahon relentlessly. Eventually Triple H comes in to "defend the family's honor", and they meet at Wrestlemania, where Punk emerges victorious.
In the main event, Punk lays out both the Rock and Cena, ending the match in a no-contest.
Punk is cemented as the company's number one face (as a Stone Cold style anti-hero). The PG era is over, and the Era of Punk (for lack of a better name) begins.

Punk wins and leaves Chicago with the WWE Championship.
If Punk wins the Championship only to lose it to the Money in the Bank winner five minutes later it would kill the (probably) pro-Punk crowd. It would be stupid and a waste of time. However if Punk leaves with the Championship it could become the storyline of the year and really show that the old saying "anything can happen in the WWE" still rings true. It should also mean good ratings for Raw the next night as fans will be wondering what will Punk do next?.

Punk wins He starts off his reign by basically being a leader this time, not like New Nexus or SES, but rather actually coming foward by saying that its about time that the WWE Superstars stand up for themselves and stop being what the creative team wants them to be. He says that even though he is not employed by WWE, he still wants to stay around to not only show that he has been the best since day one, but to also see how much chaos can happen when Vince's company actually starts turning against him Meanwhile Cena goes down and out and fired, like Nexus....however here's where my sick and cynical mind starts turning....what if after Cena loses, Punk has a sit down interview with him in the middle of the ring. You would expect Cena to turn on him and start Pointless beatdown number 317465, however he doesn't.....mainly because Punk actually beats him fair and square and the fact of the matter is that Cena actually has the same amount of respect for Punk as Punk showed at the beginning of his promo What happens next is one of the greatest moments to ever hit WWE. Cena says that instead of going against Punk at the next PPV, He will simply bow out gracefully Now, heres where things gets tricky Couple months down the line without Cena, and Punk is reigning in as champion.....until he loses the title suddenly to an up and coming challenger, namely (hopefully) whoever wins MITB. As the winner is celebrating, Cena runs into the ring, no theme music (since he isn't hired), and FU's the winner. WHich leads to Cena getting rehired and challenging for the title Cena Heel Turn Punk forms an alliance with Cena Cena wins title You have your perfect feud right there The Rock (or Dwayne) vs. John Cena with CM Punk in his corner for the WWE Title Original WWE vs. The New Generation Yeah....when depressed and homeless, this is what keeps me pre occupied lol
