So mostly criticism followed by "that one guy" jumping into defend it. I'm so glad we've evolved since then. [/sarcasm]

The only thing we have left is knowing that wrestling companies don't like each other. During the Monday Night Wars, WWE pulled all kinds of tricks when WCW were ahead. How many times did we hear how Austin was fired from WCW about not being marketable enough; JR burying Hogan & WCW in general during matches; guys like Waltman & Jarrett bitching about them on WWE TV; Gillberg; camera close ups to anti-WCW signs in the crowd; Billionaire Ted; the DX army, etc. McMahon quite rightly ignores TNA because it would be counter-productive to even acknowledge them, but I find it laughable how many lickspittles get offended and appalled on poor Vince's behalf. As for Jericho, if his last WWE run is any indication where he is right now creatively then forgive me if I don't treat his every word like solid gold. Ex-WWE talent saying nasty words about their former employers pisses him off; TNA not pushing themselves as the best promotion in the world pisses him off and TNA copying WWE pisses him off. To be honest, if a very short, tongue in cheek promo that was actually quite clever (imo) provokes such utter rage from a dyed in the wool WWE man like Jericho then TNA must be doing something right. The "DX army" thing was the one rib from WWF against WCW that I can look back on fondly now. It felt more within the lines of DX's collective character rather than the more obvious and cynical ones. Outside of that, that trick never works. It's like an up-and-coming MC trying to battle a more established one, but their rap focuses on whining about the other guy way more than establishing their own flow. On the contrary, I think pushing Austin as the hottest guy in wrestling while reminding the viewers that Bischoff didn't think he was marketable was very effective in making WCW look incompetent. The WWF done a very good job of highlighting WCW's weaknesses & shortcomings and there was nothing wrong with it - it was fun. The same applies to some of the shots that WCW would take as well. I wish people would stop being so hyper sensitive to these things and take it in the spirit that its intended.

Who cares what jericho says. Do you think the wwe never copied anything. Or even stole ideas. , how about all those larry fling. Segments. I think you all know mexican wrestlingbhad all the ideas of valets and characters way before the wwe did. So did the wwe steal or copy them. Look if the best thing that tna stole from wwe was the 331. Segment that thats not saying much is it. Maybe wwe needs to starty worring about putting a better product out.

Bushroot.
Wait, no, that's a Darkwing Duck villain. Eh well, run with it.
While I thought the Sting promo was funny, I do agree that it is the latest in a long line of taking swipes at, trying to emulate, or just mentioning WWE when it'd be really nice to see them truly try and stand on their own. In that vein I agree with Chris. It'd be great to have a true alternative; even if it's just little things that once set them apart in the early days of TNA- focus on the X Division, six-sided ring, etc etc.
They've got a reputation of WWE Lite, and that rep isn't unfounded.

For all you hip-hop heads out there please refer to the 50 Cent vs Game feud. Anyhow, TNA has been name dropping WWE for years. I remember when TNA did that live Impact back in 2008 the weekend before Wrestlemania and when showing all the famous people there, they show that one dude from The Highlanders and announced he was in WWE. It made TNA look 2nd rate, like their roster was a group of wannabes and not on the same level as a member of a curtain jerker tag team in WWE. TNA needs to find their own identity, and work on trying to put on the best show possible.

Sucks to see that Jericho lacks a sense of humor about the situation. Especially since the humorless people that are complaining about this whole thing are going to take this as validation. ETA: Yup read the thread for like a page before getting too frustrated to continue.

ECW made their company on whining about being held back. Remember Austin and Foley. Remember Shane Douglas shoots about Ric Flair.
Jericho is a good little WWE slave. I guess dog poo storyline would make him ask for more of the same. He's been whining about the things in WCW for ages yet it was the place he was at his best.

I hate to break this to everyone
But TNA IS (in a way) bush league.... Everyone is compared to WWE.
Everyone knows WWE.... Not everyone knows TNA..... There hoping to get some kind of rub by "ripping off" WWE
And it's not altogether that bad. Especially in the past few years.

ETA: Yup read the thread for like a page before getting too frustrated to continue. Oh, I have a sense of humor. To quote Meatwad: "I get it. It's not funny, but I get it." I see what they were going for. Doesn't mean I think it was effective in any way.

He is spot on except that I really didn't take any issue with the 3-3-11 promo video it was just a spoof. You can bash TNA for overvaluing ex-WWE talent, looking to past WCW/WCW/WWF success and trying to emulate that rather than move forward, and not having a singular creative direction. But the 3-3-11 thing was just for fun that's the one thing I think its a little unfair to get on them for. But in a general sense Jericho is completely correct. He may be correct with the rest but him saying this now only put gazoline in the fire. The guy has never been the most classiest of guys.

Oh my God, guys, please don't tell me anybody honestly cares about this promo.
I'm having trouble wrapping my head around a world where a 30 second promo that's basically a satire of another one from another company turns into some all-encompassing metaphor for the landscape of the current wrestling industry.
Whine and moan about TNA not booking things well, I won't blame you a lick, but this is the silliest "controversy" I think I've ever seen.
EDIT: Admission, I'm not watching any wrestling company right now, but I did see this promo in question. I still stand by this: Jericho, a random Internet poster, anybody getting worked up by this thing is out of the gourd. Who gives a flying damn?

If this controversy was worth something is revealing how WWE fans are desperate to have a good product and are tired of Cena era.

I wasn't watching wrestling then, but were people calling WWE bush league when they had a FAKE RAZOR RAMON and a FAKE DIESEL? At least TNA haven't taken things that far...yet. Didn't the WWF only create those characters to win a lawsuit against WCW for "stealing" their character traits?

Jericho regularly take TNA to task over it's Napoleon Complex so this isn't an isolated comment from him. Plenty of people in the wrestling business and its fanbase want TNA to succeed. Steve Austin has praised and criticized TNA. The wrestling industry is better with a viable option being out there. Plenty of people don't want TNA to waste their opportunity. Wrestling suffered greatly when WCW and ECW went out of business. Who wants to relive that again?

You know when people have their heads shoved so far up their backsides, when people are calling Chris Jericho "Stupid" for criticizing a Company he wants to succeed.
