Triple H obviously gets the lion's share of BERRYING hatred, but looking back at the Attitude Era, it sure seems as if the Rock did more than his fair share too.
The two most prominent examples off the top of my head are Rikishi and Billy Gunn, both of whom were arguably on the cusp of main eventing before pretty much a single promo by the Rock in each case derailed that.
Now I know it's easy to say more than a decade later that "they never would've been good main eventers anyway", but that's besides the point. The point is, in both times, their chances of main eventing got utterly obliterated because the Rock destroyed them on the mic.
For Billy Gunn, it was pretty much the "God Spoke to Billy" promo; considering that we got the term "Billy Gunned" out of the fallout, I'd say there's enough said. And for Rikishi, yeah, it was part of a stupid storyline that turned him heel for no good reason, but still, it's really, really hard to be taken seriously when you've just been told to "SHUT YOUR MOUTH, YOU THONG-WEARIN' FATTY!"
So yeah; the Rock's done more than his share of burying, more than we seem to want to give him credit for, but I think part of it might be because he was so painfully charismatic while doing so, verses a certain Nose of Noses, but I digress.

I think there's a world removed from insults like that to one person to the way HHH regularly dismisses all the talent in the company. f*** HHH.

I don't recall the Rock ever saying that he could get a better match out of a broom than the rest of the locker room.

Rock did the same for everyone in the same match, and I don't think Rock even won that match.
As for Gunn, it's not like you can get over with a loss. Sting did that, why can't Gunn?

I don't see how he buried Rikishi at all. And Billy Gunn could have recovered from that promo, he just never had the ability in the ring or the mic to stand toe to toe with Rock.

"God spoke to Billy" is probably my favorite thing Rock has ever done. It was marvelous.

Rock was known for, you know, losing matches during the time, and I think he even said on Larry King he preferred losing. The thong wearing fatty thing, like, for me that's not much of an issue because it's The Rock, of course he's gonna say stuff like that.
But yeah, Rock's promos though, he would really build up a match, no one does that like Rock. He starts off with his catch phrase, he does some comedy, then gets right to the point and builds up the match like you need to see it worse then seeing the birth of your children. And the thong wearin' fatty thing came up during a promo on 5 other people, so he didn't have that much time.
With Billy Gunn, I would have to see the promo again. And yeah, Triple H buried the whole roster during that whole walk out thing, especially the people he wrestled. Like, he wrestled Alberto Del Rio on a house show, who was the WWE Champion, though it wasn't on tv, so technically that wouldn't have mattered.

I would not call that berrying at all he just emphasised what everyone was pretty much thinking and told it like it is.
Rikishis failed heel turn , gunns numerous tries to get over ..rockabilly? the one? etc , those are what berried those guys.
I mean if The Rocks insults truly berried anyone with insults you may as well have brought up..the undertakers 33 pound head and micky mouse tatoos , or kurt angles pizza commercial , or rock singing la bamba to eddie guerrero.
The Rock annihilated them with insults but berried is not something he did atleast intentionally...If someone like the coach can recover from being made to dance the charleston then The Rocks berrieing skills quite frankly sucked IMO.

I always thought the term 'Billy Gunned' came from Edge's King of the Ring promo.
"I promise not to Billy Gun my reign as King."
Mr. Ass just couldn't catch a break from anyone.

Let's not forget the Big Slow, and everyone taking a piss break when his music hits. Man, Rock was awesome with his insults, people can still remember them to this day. I'm gonna see if I can find some on youtube.

But the "they'd never be main eventers anyway" argument does apply. Rock said harsher things to guys that were either main eventers or went on to become main eventers. HHH, Jericho, Angle, Benoit, Taker, Kane, Big Show, Austin etc. Not a single one of those guys was hurt feuding with him.
Billy Gunn not reaching the top had less to do with The Rock and more to do with the fact that...he's Billy Gunn. And it's not like it took The Rock to point out that Rikishi wore a thong as wrestling attire.

But that's what main eventers do. They go hard on each other on the mic. If a superstar can't recover from one promo, they aren't ready for the main event.

For anyone that says about The Rock's promos burying people, you only have to look at his win/loss record to clarify that.
For example, in a day and age when anyone and their grandma can win a 2 vs. 1 handicap match, The Rock pretty much always lost against The Dudleyz, tables or otherwise.

In my Booker T example, he beat Shane and Booker T in a handicap match on PPV.
He also did the "Who the blue hell are you" while Booker was the freaking WCW champion. You can definitely make a case for Booker.

HHH would just belittle his opponents' wrestling abilities and would pull some strings backstage to make himself and his stable or team at the time much better than the rest.

Just look at the differences between The Rock's feud with Jericho vs. HHH's feud with Jericho:
Rock: lost to him at No Mercy 2001, beat him on Raw, got turned on by him at Survivor Series, lost to him at Vengence, lost to him at Royal Rumble
HHH: beat him at Wrestlemania, beat him on Raw after Wrestlemania, beat him every single time they faced apart from once
And anyone good enough on the mic could hang with The Rock. Jericho did it, Austin did, Cena's currently doing it.
