^^^ I don't think you have to use the "arguably" qualifier when you say Otunga is one of the more intelligent midcarders. Not that the other wrestlers are dumb or anything, but the man graduated from Harvard Law...

All the rejected storylines were awful, and were rightly shot down. this except for ice-cream-ricardo

Thanks for that (lol just didn't want to be the one calling the other wrestlers not-as-smart as Otunga), it's really a no-brainer in this post-WWYKI Reality age of WWE Superstars.

I am dying laughing at the mental image of Matt Striker completely opening his stance while giving an interview to Mark Henry. How would he interview Rey Mysterio? On his knees? He'd still be taller than him ;D

They both live and breathe the biz, but they come from two very different types of wrestling. Vince created sports entertainment and made wrestling a national product, and has a very northern perspective, whilst JR has always had a more southern perspective on wrestling. I believe Cornette has mentioned that Vince is always making fun of southern people (though I may be extrapolating/misremembering) and his problems with Russo and Heyman are indicative of a north/south divide. I think Vince has to know that JR is very talented and knows his stuff, otherwise he simply wouldn't have been lead annoucer and head of talent relations for so long. Its just that Vince sees JR as a target who won't respond to his juvenile sense of humour, and JR isn't willing to play the political game to get into his good books. They share the same passions but appear to be incredibly different people with different perspectives. Great hypothesis, I think you nailed it on the head. Having the WWE headquartered in Stamford, CT of all places really drives home how much Vince is a product of the North. It also puts the WWF/WCW fued into a new perspective (WCW was headquartered in deep south Atlanta, GA) and kinda makes JR a residual remnant of the 'enemy' towards Vince's brand of sports-entertainment. Lately though, there have been traces of McMahon loosening his iron grip on the storylines like the very MMA-like Extreme Rules main event and allowing Punk/Bryan to have an oldschool slobberknocker (as JR would say) at Over the Limit. He seems to be listening more the IWC elements of the writer's room in some ways-- but then again the whole Big Show turn angle seems to have come directly from the 'top' and that's the current 'big storyline' so 1 step forward, 2 steps back I guess. I never understood this North/South divide crap. I'm from Cali, so a lot of the cities are like the North, but a lot of the rural areas are like different versions of the South. It's just a fact of life. We make jokes, but it's nothing serious.

If the dude's to be believed he basically confirms what anyone with a brain suspected: NXT only had a couple of guys writing it with basically free reign to do whatever they wanted which is why we got the soap opera stuff. Bateman, Curtis and Maxine basically just went nuts and had fun with the whole thing.

I don't want to be THAT guy, but this guy's total bullshit; a clever con-man, skillfully piecing together fragments of easy to digest WWE gossip and reiterating things guys like Meltzer and other former writers have already said. The whole thing was apparently started on Scott Keith's blog of all places, and then mutated into the Game Faq's thread from there. Hardly the place to blow the lid off the Industry.
That said, I know a guy very well who actually works in WWE Creative, and while he tells me like literally nothing of what goes down there, for obvious reasons, he totally refuted a lot of this guy's specific stuff.
I have to give the dude credit, though; he pieced together some truly believable stories. He WILL eventually bury himself more and more as he posts though (unable to keep up his own continuity and contradicting himself). Liars always do.

It started on the GameFaqs board first, then someone copied and pasted parts of it to Scott Keith who put it on his blog.

Liars always do Not sure why he'd lie, there's no big revelations in his posts and he freely admits to not knowing the answer to a lot of questions. He also freely admits to having just been an assistant, not a big deal at all in the world of WWE. He also posted a youtube video he took from the gorilla position at Survivor Series. And according to other users on the board, he was spoiling all kinds of things during his time with WWE. Nobody knew he worked for them though so when he said stuff like "Brodus will return as a dancing face" nobody paid him attention. All the evidence points to him being legit. I just have a really hard time believing that a well written, educated fan would make up all these mundane stories just to get some attention of a message board. Not that people don't lie on the internet, but the stuff he's telling people doesn't sound hard to believe at all.

Not that people don't lie on the internet, but the stuff he's telling people doesn't sound hard to believe at all. I agree with you, but they do exist, sadly. We live in a world --especially online -- where people will often go to great laborious lengths just to gain even the tiniest bit of fame or temporary notoriety. I've seen grown men pretend to be 'hot' women on Twitter just to get more followers. I've seen people pretend to have diseases or commit suicide just to see who "really cares about them." Hell, about 9 years ago, there was a big scam online where a dude posing as Tammy Sytch of all people tricked former shock writer Chris Hyatte into posting a weekly manifesto. It was insane. That said, I personally have no firsthand knowledge whether the guy's fake. I'm just going on what I was told by my friend who legitimately works there. He swears up and down the guy's timeline is way off in some cases and that certain stories aren't even true.

I still believe him. It's really interesting stuff and it's good to know that Triple H isn't the dick that everyone assumes he is.

The guy could post a video of himself talking to Vince in the elevator and some of you guys wouldn't believe it. There's just no convincing some people.
