He's in Jericho territory. Jericho had a awful title run and mainevented a Wrestlemania and didn't get another title opportunity in 5 years. If The Miz remains injury free through those years he will improve as a veteran and get another shot eventually. I guess you could say there were about 3 years between Wrestlemania 18 and Vengeance 2005, but really Cena/Jericho/Christian wasn't an opportunity so much as it was a tragedy, same for Summerslam 2005 Cena/Jericho match.

He's basically taken over Kofi Kingston's role as being 'king of the midcard'. Does that mean Kofi can finally get a real push then? No. This post brought to you by:

I just don't think Miz has the credibility or frankly, the charisma, to survive languishing like Jericho did. He was pretty over for the first few weeks, then when it became clear that he's a glorified jobber fans have responded with indifference largely. They should at least give him a heated feud rather than these passive battles for mid-card titles. I'd argue that, months into his face run, fans still have no reason to cheer for him. Though I just watched Smackdown and his promo against Heyman could be a good start.

Miz simply should not be a main eventer. I'm a fan of his work but he should ideally be in the midcard, doing midcard storylines and wrestling midcard guys with the occasional match vs a main eventer.
Above all, Miz is lacking a lot of the skills and psychology in the ring to be a headlining wrestler. In order to be successful, he needs someone who excels in that department to cover for him. Whether it was the flashy Morrison or the deliberate, old-school Orton, the opponents during his WWE title reign were chosen so that his deficiencies wouldn't damage his credibility as a world champion. Nonetheless, his weaknesses were still apparent to a lot of people. And they should be, since much of his offense is just a bunch of punches. That's how it was in 2009, and that's how it is in 2013. He hasn't developed much as a worker and at his age is unlikely to make any significant improvements in the near future.
I've been a fan of him since he debuted, but mostly as an ironic, awkward comedic heel. That's when he was getting some of his best heat yet it was in the early stages of his career. There's very little to recommend him as a face.

I think the Mizperiment's been over for a while. They've tried having him make time by going after the various midcard titles, but they've got guys who are bigger priorities holding those belts. He's above Midcard King Kofi since he's actually comfortable on the mic, but he's at best barely clinging to the fringes of the Guys Who Actually Matter tier.
In other words, he's wound up exactly where they dumped Morrison when the In-Crowd split up, only Miz isn't good enough to be able to feed to new guys to make them look better.

Same problem that keeps Evan Bourne, Justin Gabriel and kept Paul Burchill from going anywhere. If you're not a fantastic talker, you better make damn sure that your matches are absolute garbage, or management will use you solely to put over other guys.

There's very little to recommend him as a face. I agree with you to some extent. Miz works best in the midcard. But I don't think this is necessarily implies of lack of ability on Miz's part. I've said it before, but I think Miz carries himself like a top star, and thus that makes the midcard divisions look more meaningful whenever he is holding or competing for a midcard title. Miz could get jobbed out in a two minute squash match one week, and come out the following week acting like a big time player. I actually love Miz as a face. I feel that a lot of those in ring deficiencies you brought up actually help him out as a face. Miz's smaller size and perceived lack of workrate make him a easy to sell as an underdog. And I think that Miz's "ironic, awkward, comedic" aspects of his character work as a face. I like the idea of Miz as some comic relief "suited up" dude-bro who amuses all the little kids and older, but "immature" fans (i.e. high school/college guys, "manchildren", etc.) with his wacky antics. Let Miz be a full on frat boy who annoys heels with oddball behavior like burping, farting, juvenile games like "the circle game" and "gay chicken", and playing pranks backstage .

All you Miz haters will like him a lot better if you just think of him as '80s Michael Biehn working in WWE.

The problem with Miz is that he can't play a heel OR a face. He's too douchey either way, and both characters would make me want to change the channel.

I really don't get the "Miz is too much of a douche" thing. Come on, this is WWE.
-As noted, Sheamus is a bullying jerk -Orton's not much better -Daniel Bryan whines constantly and is always in a bad mood about something or other -CM Punk is a self-righteous know-it-all who was seemingly put on this Earth to complain
Miz is WAY less annoying than those guys are.

I disagree. None of those characters are as unlikeable as MizTV Miz. Actual daytime talk show hosts aren't as unlikeable as Miz's portrayal of one.

You have to be pretty damn hapless to have the crowd feel sorry for you for not being a good wrestler. The way WWE books now, where only the top half of the card matters at all, there's no sympy for sucking. Otherwise 3MB would be ridiculously over.

He's in a position now where the WWE will insert him where they need him. He can stay credible in the midcard and wouldn't take much effort to insert into a main event program if needed. I don't know if he's main eventing Wrestlemania again anytime soon, but he'll have a fairly prominent role for a while.

He's planted firmly in the middle of the card when he does happen to wrestle, but he's mostly a talk show host and a commentator. Maybe it's setting him up to get all intense again or something, ugh.

Miz' problem is that he's a jack of all trades, master of none. he's decent in the ring, which was fine a few years ago when most of the roster was still Johnny Ace's shit worker signings, but now with so many superlative ring workers, being decent isn't enough. he's also decent on the mic with a decent amount of charisma, which once again was fine when his main competition was guys like Carlito and Bobby Lashley, but now there are so many guys who are just plain better than him that being decent isn't enough. really all he has going for him is his Real World connection, and I guarantee you a vast majority of the fans don't give a shit about that.

I think this speaks to a bigger problem WWE has. they try to elevate EVERYONE to be a main eventer, instead of recognizing when a guy should be a midcarder for life. in turn it makes the actual midcarders look even crappier and bloats the main event with guys who never realy belonged there, but WWE's going to keep pushing as so-called main eventers because they don't like admitting they were wrong about a guy (Swagger's probably the ur-example of this kind of booking).

Miz is fine. He's good at everything but excels at nothing. He manages to remain credible despite not having a big win since.... Mania against Barrett I guess? You could put him in an Elimination Chamber or multi-man match for the WHC and I will always be scared that he could win. He'll be World Heavyweight Champion sometime down the road I'm sure.

Miz looks like he'll be in it for the long haul, unless he majorly screws up. I can see him being heel again within a year.

Couldn't possibly disagree more. Well, except about Sheamus, but the other 3 are nowhere near as obnoxious as Miz is. -Orton doesnt do anything. Seriously, he doesnt. He goes out, wrestles, makes weird faces, kinda yells shit, and hes done. That is the extent of Randy Ortons entire being over the past year. -Daniel Bryans gimmick is that hes basically a paranoid crazy person. Of course he'd whine, because he thinks people are undervaluing him and that they think hes a weak link, when he knows hes not. -Punk knows hes the best, and for some reason needs the validation of other people to tell him hes the best, so he demands that they respect him for being the best. Miz just comes out, makes douchey faces, makes thinly veiled gay and fat jokes, says really a bunch of times, acts like a smug asshole, and does not have near the ability to back it up like how Punk or Bryan have. Hell, Sheamus does the same thing, but at least Sheamus has good matches and looks like he could kick your ass.

I dislike Miz alot, but I think he would excel at being a heel manager who only wrestles occasionally.
