I don't understand why Miz fans seemingly paint Maryse as some sort of object that Miz won instead of actually being a person in a consentual relationship. Unfortunately, that's how a whole lot of women are viewed in general; as an object to be obtained, flaunted and, of course, "banged." Forget their own desires or what they bring to the relationship outside of external appeal and sexual ability...

I'm a Miz mark. Not a huge one, but enough so that when he comes out, I do get psyched and pull for something good to happen in the dude's favor.
That said, I agree with many of the detractors in the thread. Here's why:
The man has not lived up to his potential. I'm not really sure I can put into words just how huge of a Miz mark that promo package before WrestleMania made me. It was one of the easily one of the greatest pieces of material WWE has ever produced on that side, and that's really saying something. Miz looked like someone who definitely earned his place on the roster and in the spotlight.
But after that, I never got the moment or promo I was still really waiting for. Miz never took a huge bump that would be a key point on a highlight reel, and Miz has never really looked seriously vicious or pissed off. I know that not everyone can be a bloodied Lesnar or something, but Miz really needed an underdog moment--even as a heel--to solidify that he can hang. He needed to take a huge bump, then come back limping or with a crimson mask or something that meant that he was not going to give the f*** up because he had gotten this far. He could have played the cowardly heel the rest of the match as he pleased, but for a moment or two at WM, he needed to look like someone who could seriously stand up to Cena if he felt like it. It's not really so much a size thing so much as it is an attitude and offense thing.
The big spot never came at WM, and it never came afterward. Miz has really done nothing to really make me say, 'Now THAT's why I'm a fan of the guy.' The arc of him being a guy who worked hard and never got his due finally ended at WM when he walked out the champ (more on that in a second) and then he needed to transition his character into something new. Maybe make him more muted. I'm all for loud, flamboyant characters but maybe Miz could have gone in the opposite direction for his own good. Start calling him Michael Mizanin more (making the Miz more of a nickname than a name) and build him up as some kind of threat. Tone down the douche, as hard as that would be. But nothing has happened, and that really sucks.
I watch a lot less wrestling than most people on the board in that I follow story lines and results but I don't really watch matches unless there's some cool stip or something of actual consequence on the horizon. (I know I miss out on stuff this way, but my patience is limited for a lot of generic matches.) That said, I can think of great spots/moments with most of the main guys on the roster off the top of my head. There was Ziggler's cash-in (or, in a weirder moment, the time he did the weird sell after he ran into Brodus' headbutt), Cena doing a thousand things, Punk's GTS on Cena at MITB, etc. I have nothing like that for Miz and it sucks.
All this said, can we throw the guy a bone since his push was basically sub-plot fodder for Rock/Cena? The guy got the WM main event, but really, that could have been anybody. Imagine giving that spot to ADR, or Orton, or even the Big Show or even Punk. Would have barely made a lick of difference since the whole thing was predicated on building to Rock/Cena I. The Miz played total second fiddle during that match and period, so he probably never had a chance of ever getting a big moment during that match/feud anyway.
