I can't even believe you can compare Hennig and Benoit. There is absolutely no comparison there. Agreed. Completely ridiculous.

This thread kind of makes me feel guilty for buying Ladder Match 1 from Ollie's more/less just because it had Benoit/Jericho on it.
Also for a Hennig comparison, they are both deceased fourmer Horsemen.

The Benoit thing is...It sounds so callous when I say it but I just don't care. I don't care about wrestler's personal lives, I care about what's on my TV. Christ on a bike..."personal lives" as if he was found with a few rude pic on his phone and didn't, you know, murder his wife and child. Did it show up on my TV? If not for the tribute, was it part of the weekly television show I watch every week? If not, it doesn't mean a thing to me.

I really don't care how Chris Benoit spent the last days of his life. I really don't care all that much he murdered his wife and child. It has no affect on my life at all. I don't condone it, but I don't care. Chris Benoit has always existed simply on my TV screen. A great lot of the time, when he was on it, he entertained me. When I watch a match he was in that I liked, he still entertained me for the same reasons he ever did.
It's all the same how I can listen to White Christmas and not be bothered how awful Bing Crosby was to his kids, or how I can watch the Naked Gun movies and laugh at OJ's antics or go out tomorrow and buy a Volkswagon, even if it was commissioned by the Nazi's originally (I know!! Rule Who Gives a f***?)
Unless you knew Chris Benoit, I don't get the reaction of "He wasn't who I thought". Chris Benoitto was exactly who I thought, whomever he was pretending to be on TV. He only exists that way to me. His final actions place no bearing on his other accomplishments and to deny he was a great wrestler, retroactive to that is wrong.
I'm mean the fans. WWE is a different story. They'll never release a new Benoit DVD, or put him in the Hall. I see no problem if they do, but I understand why they don't.
As this generation of fans goes away, I think he may come back, when there's time to say, "Hey, what a great wrestler. Know how he died?"
Admitting someone was good at something doesn't condone actions beyond that accomplishment.

I'm perfectly fine with watching old matches of Benoit on the internet, but I'd feel pretty uncomfortable if he was ever mention on WWE television again.

Im not surprised people defend this man still, iv seen people defend all kind of murderers and killers on the internet so im not surprise people still love and admire Benoit. I was a big fan of his, a hero of mine no doubt. But i cannot find any way to ever give him any praise or say how great he was, when he killed not just his wife but a tiny little boy. I mean if any of us did what he did, do you think people would give a crap how good at our jobs we may have been? Its sad that people can defend killers for the simple reason that they gave us great entertainment. I just dont see how people get angry with WWE for erasing him either. He killed a child. Theres nothing worse then that.

Please stop equating respecting his work with defending his actions outside of his work. I bet you appreciate a lot of things that have less than moral origins. Does it bother you when you are shopping for you're next new phone that the people who make it have a suicide fence outside their workplace the conditions are so awful or are you just interested in it's download speed and don't really pay attention to the real lives of the people behind it? www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVTXFsHYLKA

Maybe it's just me but I think saying "I don't care that he murdered a 7 year old!" is......alittle weird.
To say the least.

A lot of people here are very callous about this entire subject. I can't believe the absurdity of some people saying that Benoit was just a guy on TV to them so the murders didn't effect them.
Personally, I went from outrage over him not wrestling Punk to sadness over his death. When I found out what he did, I was fascinated yet disgusted. Benoit did something that was absolutely beyond f***ed up and can never be made right. If there is a hell, Chris Benoit deserves a spot. However, it has been 6 years and my emotions just don't really get stirred up when discussing this anymore. I also never had a problem watching his matches, though it certainly helps that he was a phenomenal wrestler.

It is completely outside of the "what they do in their personal lives is their own business" concept

I can't even believe you can compare Hennig and Benoit. There is absolutely no comparison there. Yeah. In fact, it's probably the worst comparison I've ever heard. Up there with ignoring Chris Benoit is akin to murdering someone.

I think it's time to rephrase this arguement. Everything is about Benoit's matches and his killings and his personal life. Maybe Nancy and Daniel Benoit's names should be mentioned more often. This is about their deaths after all.

Well, there's not much to say about Daniel that isn't incredibly sad now. Nancy had her own wrestling career though so I am surprised at how little she comes up.

For me, it's like this : Benoit is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Not was, is. I can still watch and enjoy his matches. However, by no means should be ever be in the HOF. He murdered his family. Just... No. Absolutely not. Pretty much my stance on things.

Maybe instead of saying "since Chris benoit killed them" say "since Nancy and Daniel were killed by him" drive in the point that this whole discussion is about more than things Chris Benoit did in his life and is instead about the people who were affected by what he did

You are incorrect, sir - I merely ask that what happened at the time it happened be represented accurately. I'm not glorifying him, I'm not even saying make a DVD About him now. Just when he is in a match, don't remove it from the event DVD, lie about it ("That footage was destroyed") or alter it because when it happened we DIDN'T know this was going to happen. They did keep Benoit's matches, positive commentary and all in the anthology dvds and tagged classics. The only reason they stopped them was due to low sales. This makes me wonder though, have they ever shown any footage of Woman on 24/7 post benoit?Since nobody answered this, for the record, they at no point stopped showing Woman footage even immediately after the Benoit murders. June-December 2007 was when Classic on Demand's History of ECW series was covering her involvement with the promotion up until February '96, and each scene with her was left intact without any alterations (outside of music, of course). The same goes for her WCW work sans Benoit. However, at this point Classics on Demand were entering late '96/early '97, so there wasn't a whole lot that fell under that umbrella

Also, as weird and unsettling as this thread got, I'm at least glad we got to seven pages without some nutzoid saying they didn't believe Benoit committed the murders and posting a conspiracy theory.
