I was a pretty big Benoit fan back in the day but I can totally understand and I totally respect WWE's decision to mostly erase him from wrestling history. The one thing I do wish though is that when they make a DVD set of someone or of a group and there is a classic match involving Benoit they should include it. As someone mentioned previously, if they ever make a Kurt Angle DVD set there should be one match between him and Benoit.

The Hall of Fame shouldn't be an issue for Chris Benoit anymore- IMO, the perfect way it was handled was in 2011. The Four Horsemen went in as a stable. It's covered. If you think Benoit should be in the Hall of Fame, then he's in as a Four Horseman. If you don't think he should be in the Hall of Fame, you don't have to recognize him as a Hall of Famer. The Four Horsemen is in- that's all that needs to be said either way- whether you want Benoit in or you want him out, you're right. You sir are a genius, and should run for office.

Well, I think the OP's(who I noticed slunk away once the arguments went full burn on here, I'm sure pleased at a job well done, as I think he started this thread for exactly that reason, rather than an intelligent debate)has been answered. While the decision made by WWE not to induct Benoit into the HOF was made rationally, it's because they know the strong emotional response that inducting him into the HOF would raise. Heck, look at the various emotional responses seen just in this thread.
For the record, I was a HUGE Benoit fan, and while it took me a while to be able to watch his matches, I can now, although, with a great deal of head shaking, and stating, "Such a damn shame." I understand why WWE has decided against mentioning/promoting him unless they have little choice but to, but I can also see the point of the people arguing against removing him from history (although, I notice they've got a little better at including him in certain things, ala the encyclopedia). Of course, people in power altering history for certain reasons (most often to suit their own desires) is hardly a thing restricted to wrestling. At least WWE has somewhat of a reason, as I'm sure the outrage would not be worth it for WWE, both financially and PR wise. I'm sure if one of the SNL cast members did the same thing, Lorne Michaels would probably do something similar, and you wouldn't see that cast member on too many "Best of" compilations.
It really kind of annoys me more, however, when people on this board refuse to mention Benoit, like he was frikkin Voldemort or something. I almost want to post to those people, "Oh, you mean CHRIS BENOIT: THE CANADIAN CRIPPLER? THE REALLY GOOD WRESTLER THAT WENT NUTS AND KILLED HIS FAMILY/SELF? THAT GUY?!?" People are such Pussies sometimes, and it's sad that Political Correctness (and this it not a PC bashing statement, as PC does have its good points) has extended to people just not wanting to mention ANYthing bad, like shielding their eyes from the horror of real life is going to make it just vanish into thin air. I get that the Benoit murders was the 9/11 of wrestling, but not mentioning the guy by name is just spineless, IMO.
And yes, I know that some of that is in jest (the Bob Holly thing), and that's fine, but the people who just refuse to acknowledge him at ALL because of what he did is just silly to me. WWE doing it is one thing, as they have much more to lose, but normal people refusing to mention him/say his name is just so weak to me. These people need to grow up and live in the real world.

While they mentioned that they had other members, I think they officially just inducted the first incarnation of it, not including Mongo, Paul Roma, etc. If you check out their website, they only have pictures of the original horsemen.

Yeah, I think I'm happiest if you just put Mongo in the never category alongside Chris. Jarrett deserves better than something like that. Like he should headline the Wrestlemania that he headlines the HOF for, with With My Baby Tonight as the theme of the event and the theme used for every wrestler.
