There's two kinds of people. People that can watch a Benoit match perfectly fine and enjoy it. Then there's people that wince and get really uncomfortable seeing him take a chairshot or do a flying headbutt.

What Benoit did was awful, but erasing him from history is murder to me. Well then it's a good thing they haven't erased him from history, then. Wouldn't want WWE erased from history too for their awful, horrendous crime of murder. It's more like Benoit's that black sheep, creepy distant relative that makes a bad name for your family. So everyone flat out ignores him unless they absolutely HAVE to acknowledge him as part of their kin. Besides, there's nothing wrong with distancing yourself from a lunatic. I mentioned that I bought the WWE Encylopedia because they will actually SAY something about him. Again, I'm not asking them to promote him. As for altered commentary - there's a ton of "awkward silence" on the Satan's prison DVD when it comes to Benoit in matches

Because....my god. I knew people took this fake sport seriously sometimes but....my god. Please tell me I'm wrong and people don't want a guy that did unspeakable things to be put back into circulation of media just so their dvd sets can be complete. Please. You are incorrect, sir - I merely ask that what happened at the time it happened be represented accurately. I'm not glorifying him, I'm not even saying make a DVD About him now. Just when he is in a match, don't remove it from the event DVD, lie about it ("That footage was destroyed") or alter it because when it happened we DIDN'T know this was going to happen. They did keep Benoit's matches, positive commentary and all in the anthology dvds and tagged classics. The only reason they stopped them was due to low sales. This makes me wonder though, have they ever shown any footage of Woman on 24/7 post benoit?

I remember JBL saying this only a few months before he did what did.
Also I can't help but shake my head at morons who think he should be still inducted in the hall of fame. Vince and CO (not that this would ever happened mind you)would have to be out of their bloody minds to induct a child murder when they are marketing a product towards children and their parents.

Before i get jumped on for what i am about to type i realize they arent in the same ballpark but they kinda are.
If what a guy did in his personal life matters so much to you people then why is Mr. Perfect in the HOF? He did drugs and it killed him. Is he next to be erased?

Perfect didn't intentionally hurt anyone else by doing that. That's the difference. There's no reason to discredit him. For the record, I'd love to see Austin or Art Barr get the same treatment Benoit gets today.

The worst I could find on his wikipedia is that he stole Jericho's Loverboy tapes, and while I can hardly condone such a thing I don't think it quite warrants blacklisting.

Also if he lost, the bad publicity would harm the local wrestling business, driving away customers.[4]

Killing yourself accidently with drugs as many wrestlers have, isn't even close to being in the same ballpark as brutally murdering your wife and kid as that pyschopathic bastard Benoit did. That's why Eddie Guerrero is still beloved and Benoit is only seen by many (including myself) as nothing short of an absolute monster. I honestly don't even see how you could possibly compare him to someone like Hennig.

To be fair he is essentially disappeared from wrestling as far as WWE goes.

Wade Boggs lost a good friend. Hardly a victimless occurrence.

Intentionally murdering your 7 year old boy with a wrestling move, and strangling your wife to death, then killing yourself to avoid prison time is much, much worse and totally different than overdosing on drugs. If Benoit had only killed himself, then maybe the two would be comparable. Otherwise it's strange and reaching to try to lump Hennig in with Benoit. If Benoit's still your hero, fine. But don't sully Hennig's name by comparing him to that monster.

If WWE were to release a Benoit DVD today, i would never buy it. No matter how many great matches he had, he still murdered his wife and his own child. If other people can enjoy his matches, more power to them but I cannot bring myself to relieve a man's career when I know the incredibly dark ending to it.

For me, it's like this :
Benoit is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. Not was, is. I can still watch and enjoy his matches.
However, by no means should be ever be in the HOF. He murdered his family. Just... No. Absolutely not.

but then everything before those unfortunate circumstances are lost then!
if there was a release there must be context of them, and clarification of the events, but still chris benoit was an incredible athlete in the ring sometimes and was part of some of the most controversial story lines .....
yeah i agree that a HOF position is out of the question

I can't even believe you can compare Hennig and Benoit. There is absolutely no comparison there.

Erasing history =/= not putting a guy on a wrestling DVD. A wrestling DVD is a money-making product, not a means to archive important events in the world. Comparing not putting his matches on a DVD to murder is just so over the top to me that I can't really figure out how to respond.
I don't have any issue with people who can still enjoy his matches, don't want him erased from DVD's, or don't want commentary changed. None at all, it's your right to be interested in that thing. But some of the arguments about this subject get so far out there that it makes the messages really hard to me. I know this is a touchy subject, but it shouldn't be that hard to keep things grounded without invoking Godwin's law here.
