Well, this has the potential to make things even more interesting in that region, to put it very lightly. It's got the makings of pretty much another Korean Air 007 since from what I've heard both sides are blaming each other at this point. Condolences to the family of all involved and wow, Malaysia Airlines cannot catch a break this year.
Update: Pictures of the fuselage are beginning to surface on Twitter

When I first heard the report, I thought they were talking about that first missing plane.

Depending on how this shakes out Rusev might be an American loving dancing machine sooner rather than later.

Wow, this coupled with the 370 incident could spell the end for Malaysia Airlines. Really unfortunate of them. If indeed shot down, can't blame them for this one.

The only times there have ever been accidental shoot-downs that I can recall have been due to misidentification of the target.

I know, but if the shit really hits the fan, it would be hard to continue with it. I was mostly joking anyways though.

Rusev doesn't suck as bad as Hassan did without the gimmick to rely on, though, so he at least has that going for him, and he can go right back to being Bulgarian.

I really hate the people sometimes.

Considering how bored Rusev looks with the whole "Crush Him!" gimmick, this might be a blessing in disguise. That said, I am both horrified and disgusted by this. I first thought it was a deliberate attack, and I withhold my opinion until we know for sure, but I cannot believe this.

I'm just afraid that the crash site is going to get thoroughly looted well before any investigators can get into the area. Which may be what's desired by the local forces...

The route that MH17 was flying is a heavily-trafficked airlane for airlines flying from the Middle East and SE Asia to western Europe. A number of jets including a Singapore A380 were shown making big turns to avoid the region and stay on the same route.
The scary thought is, not too far behind MH17 on the same routing was a Malaysia A380 going to Kuala Lumpur from London...
Edit: It was also reported that MH17 was flying a more northerly route than usual to avoid weather in the area as well.
