XXX Who needs Bond??? we've now got XXX!!!! Was XXX supposed to be a franchise? I thought it was pretty fun, but it never struck me as something that needed a sequel. Plus, I think State of the Union did more to ruin the popularity than anything else. Yeah, it was expected to be the American Bond basically.

There was a lot of hype around the time that it would be a "Bond killer" and be one of Vin Diesel's long-term vehicles alongside the Fast & Furious films. Of course, Vin Diesel then balked on starring in sequels for both, and then hit a run of flops. Funnily enough, according to the man himself XXX: The Return of Xander Cage begins filming this month. He just loves going back to franchises he abandoned, doesn't he?

The Divergent series, sure they've made money but at the same time these movies just seem to be……there It will be very interesting to see how Allegiant performs this Spring, after the surprisingly weak turnout for Insurgent.

Speaking of Vin Diesel, we can probably throw Chronicles of Riddick into this thread.

Definitely can't blame the guy for wanting to branch out.

I remember after RATM took the Christmas No. 1 off of Joe Mcelderry The Sun went into hyperbole mode, stating that it didn't matter as Joe was destrined to be a huge star. He currently does reality shows and Panto.

He currently does reality shows and Panto. To be fair, this is applicable to most of the winners from X-Factor. They're presented as the next big thing for a year, and then the hype train moves onto the next season's round of finalists and it's sink-or-swim time. Of the eleven winners so far, seven of them were dropped from their contracts gained through winning the show before their second album, though a most have at least managed to maintain respectable careers in music.

Too bad for them 24 came out when it did, which WAS the American James Bond.
