Welp AlphaOmegaSin is boned under this new set of rules. Thank goodness, I can't stand that guy.

What if someone uploads a video at a Museum or at a war reenactment or even just a "war weekend" like some heritage railway places do? They'd be punished by Google?
Those terms are extremely vague.

The "Done in a comedic manner" exception sounds vague. Does this mean stuff like AVGN and NC and the like have nothing to worry about? Also, what about when content holders happen to upload stuff that violates this like red band trailers. Finall, the violence tag may affect wrestling, forget WWE owned footage, I'm talking about indy feds.

Yeesh, those guidelines are vague.
On the one hand, it's YouTube's right to set out whatever it wants its guidelines to be, especially as sponsorship money is its lifeblood. On the other, there are no equivalent platforms to YouTube, so it's not like a lot of content providers or viewers have other viable places to go.
If this is indeed a case of YouTube simply saying "these have always been our terms, if you get flagged this is just to give you an idea why" then that's at least a step better, but some of the language in there is just flat-out strange, especially the idea of not swearing in a video unless it's "comedic" (who decides that?), the idea of not discussing politics and history is flat-out insane, etc. If they clarified it to say "discussion of politics/history/whatever done to advocate for causing harm to others", that'd be one thing, but it doesn't say that.

I saw some YouTubers on Twitter claiming that this isn't new and has been a rule for at least a year. If that's the case, why are all these YouTubers only being affected by this now, and all at the same time?
The whole thing is kind of weird. I just hope that it sorts itself out, I watch a lot of YouTube and I'd hate to see any of my favourite YouTubers end up quitting or being shut down because of something like this.

And seriously don't worry, huge channels won't be affected, Google's not that dumb.

Not to be a dick, but their site their rules. Does it suck? Ya. But it is what it is, nothing we can or should do about it. If they wanna switch to all gospel music videos only tomorrow, then they're free to do so.

Personally, I knew this crap with advertisers was going to happen at some point which is why when I had a chance to monetize my Monster Crap blog (which was an option), I chose not to do it. I dont think I could review a movie while knowing that some PR person from any advertising company or company that advertises might have issues with what I say so I didnt think the future headache was worth the small cash (because you dont get much). It's just the way sponsors are.

Egoraptor contacted Youtube about this and basically this is not a new set of rules, these have always been the rules, but Youtube is now being less vague about videos that have been flagged for any reason. A ton of videos have been flagged under these rules for years but the creators were never given an explanation past something real vague. YT is just stepping up their game. Much ado about nothing. Phillip DeFranco who has been a longtime personality on the site just recently got his videos unmonetized, and The Young Turks had twelve of their videos censored. This isn't nothing, YouTube can tell EgoRaptor what he wants to hear but that doesn't make it the truth. The fact that the Young Turks are getting censored raises alot of red flags. They are a news outlet/political commentary channel. Yes they will say things that are not sugar coated and with a bend(all things of that ilk be it Young Turks or Paul Joespeh Watson on the other side) will do that. But they also draw in large numbers of viewers. So either Youtube is trying to kill off a decent subclass of channels (Not counting the other rules) or they can not reach out to advertisers that are willing to advertise on such things and would rather shut it down than outreach to those.

Welp AlphaOmegaSin is boned under this new set of rules. Thank goodness, I can't stand that guy. I don't like AlphaOmegaSin either, but doesn't he have a right to exist? I mean, I can think of plenty of far worse channels with much bigger audiences, some of which could be considered harassment/bullying, and compared to those AlphaOmegaSin is nowhere near as bad. I'm not defending him or anything, as I said I don't like him either, but I haven't seen any stories of him harassing or bullying anyone. I saw some YouTubers on Twitter claiming that this isn't new and has been a rule for at least a year. If that's the case, why are all these YouTubers only being affected by this now, and all at the same time? The whole thing is kind of weird. And seriously don't worry, huge channels won't be affected, Google's not that dumb. Hopefully that's true. If big YouTubers are affected by this I doubt they will be quiet about it, and if that happens I'm guessing there will be a pretty big backlash against the policy. nah, they've been affected by it for a while, it's only now that they're actually being given reasons. And seriously don't worry, huge channels won't be affected, Google's not that dumb. You say that, but then I remember Google+ That, and channels being shut down (at least temporarily) by false copyright stuff, or false copyright claims in general. If channels can be hit with false copyright claims, then it may be possible that they could be falsely affected by this, and that's what's worrying about it. RIP iDubbbz/Papa Franku. I hope not. They (along with MaxMoeFoe) were the first channels I thought of when I saw this. EDIT - Off topic, but this was my 1000th post. I don't remember posting that many times here...

I wonder if people will go to that Amazon program designed to fight YouTube, where your videos go up into Amazon Instant Video?

If only they had a ratings system so that content was filtered by the age of the viewer....
Wait, no, hang on, they've had one of those for literally 10 goddamn years. They've had this since the pre-google days when they allowed actual porn on the site.

Google fighting the real battles here. I call bull on this. Sonic Adventure 2 was fun. I mean, the PC port is the only version I've played, and that was coded by someone who was wearing oven mitts, but I can see why people liked the game. Holds up better than Heroes does anyway.
