Kirk: Chill out man, I told you it was an accident, you probably went over a asteroid or something. Spock: Hey, the shuttle ain't hit no motherf***ing asteroid. Kirk: Hey look man, I didn't mean to shoot the son of a bitch, the phaser went off I don't know why.

Bones finally getting his profanity laced rant for the ages will be worth it. Or this: Bones: "Spock you green blooded @$#()&$$#%! ##%#!)(*&% #!_^)*^% " *Spock gives him the Vulcan Cock-Breaker Hold* Spock: "Call me a green blooded #$%!$%$#!^!^^ one more time asshole. SAY IT ONE MORE TIME" or Kirk having a hardcore sex orgy with every female on the ship. Gotta have lots of foot close-ups as well. You know Tarantino. Ask Uma Thurman.

I like star trek but don't think I can sit through probably 3.5 hour movie knowing Tarantino.

Tarantino did only a couple of movies I can stand and nothing since then. So he can go away.

Damn so much hate. I know Hateful Eight wasn't great, but Django was awesome and his earlier work is pretty sweet too.

Please for the love of God no. I don't care for Tarantino any more regardless, but the new Star Trek series has already got too dark for my tastes as it is. I don't need R-Rated Trek.
CAN'T WE MAKE ANYTHING HOPEFUL ANY MORE? PLEASE?

There are! Four! f***ing! Lights! In all seriousness, an r-rated Star Trek is just as wrong as an r-rated Superman.

Why would anyone think that this is a good idea?

Well sence I really don't care for Star Trek much, and love a good chunck of Tarantino's work, screw it, let him do this. I wanna see the batshit insanity a Tarantino Star Trek film will look like!
Next, let's have Micheal Bay direct a Star Wars movie

Damn so much hate. I know Hateful Eight wasn't great, but Django was awesome and his earlier work is pretty sweet too. I like Quentin Tarantino, mostly. I like a lot of Star Trek stuff. I just think this is less like peanut butter and chocolate, and more like chocolate and potato salad. The flavors just won't mix.

CAN'T WE MAKE ANYTHING HOPEFUL ANY MORE? PLEASE? Watch The Orville. Seth MacFarlane GETS what made Star Trek work, and has adapted it to a really good, slightly silly sci-fi show.

I'm no fan of Quentin Tarantino but it doesn't matter what director they get, a R-rated Star Trek is a f***ing stupid idea.

Future Tarantino Star Trek reviewer: I thought it was really good except for the 15 minute shot of Uhura's feet.

I'd love to see a Tarantino sci fi film, but Star Trek doesn't seem like remotely the right IP for him to work with.
Hell, Star Wars would be better with its seedy underbelly of bounty hunters
An original sci fi property would probably be best

Hell, Star Wars would be better with its seedy underbelly of bounty hunters An original sci fi property would probably be best It could work. Star Trek has always tended to focus on the Federation being a utopia threatened by races from outside its borders or by political corruption, while only rarely delving into the more seedy side of things - the episode of TNG where Picard goes undercover on a smuggling ship or almost any Quark-heavy DS9 episode, for example. There's potential there, but I think the real problem would be the fanbase. The JJ films and Discovery has shown that a good portion of the fanbase only want the philosophical utopia presented for the previous 40+ years.
