I wonder how many lives would be saved here over the past 200+ years if the second amendment was never included in the constitution. It's sad to think about. America's obsession with guns might not exist. This amount of shootings doesn't happen anywhere else.

Damn, this student at the rally today dropped a pipe bomb on the politicians. For accepting NRA money and being cowards.
And just when you think Fox News couldn't be any more disgusting, the other night, they were all upset that other networks were reporting that the shooter was involved with a white supremacist group.
Like they were defending racists. The kid might not have been a member, but he posted many racist, homophobic, and anti Jewish comments. Then they bring on a congressman who was shot at the softball practice, and he goes on with the, "It's too soon." bullshit.
I really hope these kids start ripping people new assholes and get real changes happening.

At this point, at least some level of compromise would be better then nothing. I don't see anything wrong with someone owning like a bolt-action rifle or a revolver, but why do you need an assault rifle? For self-defense against a horde of gangsters? At the very least, they need to go. This is exactly the problem with people who complain about attempts at gun control; the guns being discussed are ones civilians shouldn't have and don't need to begin with. Why do civilians need a gun that can fire dozens of rounds per minute? Protection? Yes, because there's the ever-present danger of being attacked by a group of grizzly bears and we just need the firepower to repel them. Hunting? Sure, because every hunter needs an AR-15 to stop those resilient armored deer they're apparently after.

I’d think Police unions would be 100% in favor of it as well. If you’re raiding a suspects house do you want to potentially be running up against a weapon of mass destruction?

Most people aren’t asking for the 2nd Amendment to be repealed. They’re merely suggesting that maybe hqbivin weapons that can massacre kids at a high school, concert goers, or people at a club shouldn’t be so readily available.

The problem of getting change is one side of the issue was always more passionate than the other. Having things be taken away from you is a motivating factor.
While it's good to see passion in the political sphere, we will see coming election time if that passion correlates with votes.
Guns in general is a complex topic because there are states with high gun ownership with low crime rates. Those states not coincidentally also tend to be states with high average incomes/wages. The majority of guns homicides are suicides which is awful and the presence of guns makes it easier to kill yourself but that is not with a semi automatic weapon. The other portion of homicides sadly impact inner city youths which is not something that impact the majority of America.
I think it's far easier to (easy as policy gets) to fix the economic and social issues that minority deal with which will bring a lot of positive effects including lower crime rates.

I really hope these kids start ripping people new assholes and get real changes happening. I don't know how spread out it is, but I'm seeing a lot on FB and social media that high school and college students/teachers are planning a walkout to advocate gun reform on April 20th. Which is just a wonderful date for them to choose... -___-

I'll give these kids a lot of credit. They are the ones standing up and really trying to rally and do something in the aftermath.

All of these jackasses “joking” about shooting up their high schools on social media the day after. Filth...absolute filth. There was even one that got arrested for it at one of our local high schools.
