By the way, as much as I like to say with these that "don't name the asshole or show his photo, it's doing what he wants", there's currently intentionally false information being spread on Facebook to maliciously gravestand, so find out the right details from the News or Wikipedia or something, so you know which pages to block from your feed. Some of these people are just f***ing ghouls.

One was a guard who was a 15-year police veteran and the other was actually a cop who happened to be within earshot of the gunfire. Probably the two best people you'd want in the scene, and the reality of the situation meant neither could do more than irritate one of the shooters without putting further innocent lives at risk. Like I said...just for starters. Another problem to solve is preventing heavily armed assholes from gaining access to heavily populated student areas. That makes it easier to engage the bastards. I just went to visit my father a little while ago at the high school he works at that’s also my alma mater. Not only is there an armed officer on duty...but the school is locked down during school hours. There’s also security roaming the premises. It all comes down to what security measures that schools can afford too...unfortunately. The high school that I went to has the same setup, they have gates that prevent entrance after school is in session and the doors are locked from the outside.

Now the big call going round from the pro-gun camp is making armed teachers mandatory. Is this some kind of sick joke? Do they not realise how backwards that sounds? My father-in-law is a big gun collector. Even he says that arming teachers or getting rid of gun-free zones is certifiably insane.

I wonder if the Founding Fathers would have included the 2nd Amendment if they knew they were dooming thousands of people to murder? The one time people actually used their guns to fight what they considered a tyrannical government(Civil War) they were beat down by said said government anyhow and they had access to entire army bases.

So let’s see.
Weird loner that creeped his classmates out, stalked a female classmate, was not allowed to bring a backpack on campus and was expelled for getting into a fight with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend...an ex who he abused.
Was in constant trouble with the police visiting his home on numerous occasions.
Social media presence pretty much consisted of him showing off his gun collection and showing/bragging about small animals he’s murdered.
Was flagged to the FBI last year after he posted on the guys vlog that he was going to be a professional school shooter.
Now...how the f*** was this guy still allowed to purchase, let alone own an ASSAULT rifle?

There are certainly reasonable discussions to be had about the wisdom of sticking with a law about guns without any revisions, when it was written before the invention of bullets. That discussion is not permitted here though, and probably can't take place anywhere without people screaming at each other.

I used to do HVAC computer systems for schools and I can say some schools are easier to get into than others. Few, but not many have an open campus where kids openly walk from building to building. Some larger schools take your ID scan it and give you a badge wig your photo on it.
Most schools however just have a buzzer and it's 50/50 whether they ask what you're there for or just immediately let you in.

Now...how the f*** was this guy still allowed to purchase, let alone own an ASSAULT rifle? That’s a serious problem. It shouldn’t be so easy to obtain assault rifles. People need to pass tests to get a license to drive a car. Then they need insurance to drive a car. A similar system should be in place to make it harder for these mass shootings to happen. Make the insurance expensive. Price out the people like this younger guy that probably wouldn’t be able to afford it. If there are people with mental health issues living in a home with guns, guns shouldn’t be allowed to be kept there. That may not seem fair to people but it’s just too dangerous now. Keep them locked up at a shooting range or at a place where they won’t be within reach of someone that could potentially cause harm to others or themselves. I hope my suggestions aren’t seen as political. The only side I’m taking is the side of safety and human life. Too many lives have already been lost. Nothing will ever completely solve this problem but actions must be taken to reduce the chances of these incidents happening more and more often.

They're showing cell phone videos of students hiding in classrooms while you hear gunshots. The funny part is that they have to edit out people swearing. Yeah, that's the more offensive part, scared kids swearing. Not the fact that there's a sick f*** killing people in a high school. This country is so backwards.

I am neither a gun enthusiast nor a Prohibitionist. But the “thoughts and prayers” cycle strikes me as being like battered wife syndrome where a woman will stay with an abusive husband because she has accustomed herself to the abuse and thinks it is just a normal state of affairs. There is nothing normal about this kind of pattern. Even country’s that have far more lenient gun laws still have nowhere near the frequency of these kind of events, and no doubt they look at us in the United States and think we are all crazy for it. This is happening so frequently because we have resigned ourselves to it.

Quick word of warning, some scumbag journalist from the Miami Herald posted a story on Yahoo showing an actual dead body from the shooting. Like, not even hidden behind a spoiler tag, blurred out, or anything. The shit some of these "journalists" do for attention and clicks is disgusting.

I've seen that kinda shit happen before, on the front page of newspapers no less. I can't even say I'm surprised anymore.

Quick primer on UK gun law: And, as expected, there's some dickhead with the "but knives though" argument.

Quick primer on UK gun law: And, as expected, there's some dickhead with the "but knives though" argument. That dickhead needs to explain how the Las Vegas mass killer could have killed 50+ people from his hotel window with a knife. A ranged projectile weapon with massive ammunition capacity and a high rate of fire, will always be more dangerous than an object that only poses a threat in close quarters.

Well, this is just dandy. From what I can tell, his attack wasn't aimed at any kind of group though. Sure, he was "allegedly" (groups like this always try to make themselves part of tragedies to garner noteriety) part of a dickhead organisation, but it seems as relevant to this situation as him being part of the school chess club.
