Vince is the kinda guy that keeps stepping in shit, only to find that there's a check for $300 Million stuck to the bottom of the shoe.
This company doesn't deserve to get this kind of payout for the garbage they've put on TV the last 2 years. But that's how things work, I guess. The funniest thing that would come out of this is if Road Dogg shoot thinks he's done so good turning SD around that they're going to let it try to be it's own thing on it's own network.

NOTHING about this shit product will ever change with monetary value going up like this. Imagine someone paying $480 million dollars for the rights to According to Jim. What I'm trying to say is 1) WWE will never change their ways when the product draws ratings and 2) Jim Belushi is a wank pheasant.

I like to think that Vince is blasting this through his home and at Titan Towers.
(On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised to find it on WWE’s official channel.)

I mean... wasn't it announced that the last WWE deal was going to be like 3 times what it was... and they ended up taking a bath on it?

That number simply cannot be real. That would be around $9 million an episode. What they PROBABLY mean is $240 million, which would be three times Raw’s Rate once you take away Smackdown’s half. I'm guessing you're right, because yeah, $480 million is a level that makes no sense whatsoever.

Big deal. TNA just bought a slightly used mini fridge for the office.

It would be annoying to me personally if SmackDown stops being live and moves to a network that would require me to buy a more expensive TV package.

Have a real impossible time believing WWE is getting 9mil an episode unless USA/NBC universal is way more desperate than anyone thinks.
But again to believe they get nearly as much as Game Of Thrones gets per episode (10mil) yea I aint buyin it.

Can I just get the weekly shows live on the network? Commercials are fine. Whatever. I don't care. Just don't wanna bother getting cable in case I ever do feel like watching along with the live threads.

So the punishment for making an unwatchable tv product is to be paid 3 times more for one of those shows...I just don't understand life. It’s fascinating to observe. Think of all the stuff that’s happened since the last TV deal was signed, which I think was in 2014. That covers pretty much the entire Roman Reigns main event push and all the back-and-forth that has entailed. It’s covered two separate world title reigns where the champion barely appears on the show, and has not even wrestled a match on the show the network is paying for during that entire time. All those angles and feuds that have been maligned the way they have... And it’s led to an alleged TV deal that could be anywhere between 300 to 500 million dollars just for ONE show alone, let alone a possible fair chunk of change for the other one. Clearly the TV network doesn’t mind about the slow ratings decline judging by the supposed increase in TV rights fees, so all that’s left are live crowd numbers, which seem to be... largely steady year-over-year, I think? What motivation is there for them to change direction? They’ve just had their entire business model validated. Given in the course of three years they've added reality shows to other channels, picked up several national/global sponsors, show off their charity work and have mostly kept their nose clean, the company is being rewarded for bringing in more ad revenue. The network showing the product doesn't care if it's crap or not, DAT AD REV DOE

That assumes USA is paying equally for Raw and SDL which isn't the case since Raw gets more than SDL based on the 3rd hour. Once you include Raw's higher viewership, Raw is probably getting closer to 100 million a year now I would wager.

WWE's current deal is worth 180m per year, but it's not an equal split, as NBC are "only" paying 30m for SmackDown. If this report is accurate, then the minimum would be 450m.

Didn't we have this song and dance the last time? DVR proof! Big money increase incoming! Only for the increase to be less than they'd hinted at. If NBC drop smackdown, that's probably it for the brand split as it'll struggle to find a new home.

If that's true, then again I have to wonder what SmackDown's value on the open market is, especially now they've gone back to a hard brand split and RAW and SmackDown are... well, I wouldn't say 100% equal, but it's a MUCH closer gap in 2018 than it was in 2014. Over/under... $150 million?

Over/under... $150 million? Depends, FOX are really interested apparently. There's a reason why Fox execs were only at SmackDown a few months ago and not RAW. Having lost UFC they need more content, and the upcoming buyout will mean they have more cash to throw around. I wouldn't be surprised if WWE are asking for at least 200m for SmackDown. There's also the potential of putting it on FOX rather than FS1 or FS2.

If NBC drop smackdown, that's probably it for the brand split as it'll struggle to find a new home. There's actually competition for rights this time, that's a major factor. NBCU wants to retain them, FOX are interested, they were paid almost $2m by FaceBook for the Mixed Match Challenge. There's a lot of room to negotiate. Personally, I think that's the main reason for the brand split, they always planned on separate rights deals for RAW and SmackDown.

People said there was competition last time too, but it ended up with NBC as the only serious bidder, so I won't believe there's a big money deal incoming until the ink is dry on the contract.
